This place is absolute, unrepentant, garbage. I got two tacos, some chips and queso, and a couple cookies and everything is saltier than a salt lick. The chips are absolutely crusted in salt, the salsa is just spicy salt, everything is disgusting and inedible. It's like trying to drink sea water. I had to drink a gallon of water before my kidneys stopped hurting and I didn't even eat half of my order. I can't comment on their cookies because they weren't included, even though I paid for them. I wish they'd just forgotten my whole order. I would absolutely have paid to not eat this garbage. I also need to point out that each of my $5 tacos would fit in an 8oz measuring cup. It's like that joke about the two people eating at a restaurant, and one complains that the food is awful and the other agrees and adds that the portions are also too small. This is one of those Lakeway "hotspots" that is perfect for all the alcoholics around here who have blown out their taste buds with Stoli and cheap wine. I can't think of a single good thing about this place, from their faux-extreme Hot Topic image, to their cutesy menu names, to their trash food - everything about this place sucks. This is the kind of place for people who think margaritas are supposed to be lime slurpies with whatever cheap booze. They're the same people who don't think mixed drinks don't count as "drinking". Went to Torchy's for the last time today in Lakeway. Their food and service has consistantly gone down hill. I asked for beens and rice for my Fiancees Grandson and I got refried beans and they said thats all they had. My Airstream Salads was OK but not as good as it used to be. I left 20% tip and no one came to check on us. Frankly I"m not going to give a 20% tip and order a top shelve drink for no service and bad attitude and very low quality food. I can make better stuff at home in 10 minutes. No excuse Torchys use to be a great place but like most great resteraunts their days are numbered. too bad last vist for me and I will not recomend Torchy's to any of my customers that I relocate to Austin again. Torchys is our go to breakfast Taco place. We've always done pick up orders and never experienced any mistakes. They always give plenty of salsas! By far best breakfast taco we like is Migas with added bacon! We've tried a handful of their Tacos but that's the winner. If I had to choose a 2nd runner up I'd say the Democrat, but the breakfast Tacos are just far more filling. Highly recommend always tastes great and they are always on time! If I had any complaints it's that I wish they were open earlier during the week. 10am is a late breakfast for me. read more

I love torchys but this location in lakeway has the worst customer service. Ordered online for pickup. Went up to the register and no one looked me in the eye or said good evening welcome to torchys or anything. But that's not the worst of it My call in order was scheduled for 6:37. I arrived on time I was told to sit down they'd deliver my order to my table. I was handed a number. Sat for about 20 min. Went up to the register to ask about my order. Stood behind another frustrated takeout customer finally was told they weren't sure when my order was going to be ready. 45 min after my takeout ready time and I still don't have my order. If I didn't have grandkids at home waiting for torchys I'd walk out. read more

This rating is specifically for the Lakeway location. The ordering process is always a disaster and the food often is because their kitchen staff can't be bothered to actually read the instructions. It used to be that ordering online was easy. Then they changed their system. Without fail, if you want to order more than one taco, the online system will tell you the wait is an hour. We typically order 4 tacos and 2 chips and queso. It's not a big order. If you call and actually get someone to answer, it's 20 minutes, except when it isn't, because the order is still wrong when you go to pick it up. As for the order itself, it is never right. You'd better make sure to check before you leave if you're getting it to go. Most of the time, I have to wait while they remake something because they put the cotija cheese on it after being explicitly told not to as it makes me sick. This location has also decided to short the customer on portion sizes. After explicitly complaining about the large queso order when I placed my phone order, and was told that they use a 10 oz container for 8 oz, the container was still half full at best for one of my orders and approximately 2/3 (at best) for the second order. They topped off the half full queso, but not the one that was 2/3. Even without a measuring cup, this is easy to eyeball... 8 oz in a 10 oz cup is 80% full. Not half, not two thirds. As for my Mr. Orange, the portions were virtually nonexistent. The picture is below. Complaints have been made to the managers at this location on multiple occasions. They are very nice in the moment, but nothing ever changes permanently. Despite trying to give the benefit of the doubt, the problems continue and are never addressed. Nothing changes. They either can't hire competent staff or can't be bothered to care because they know they have no direct competition in Lakeway/Bee Cave. As much as I actually do like the food, when the order is correct and the portions are actually fair, I will have to say we have definitely agreed to give up on this location permanently. I want to not only enjoy my food but not have to be stressed out about the whole ordering and pickup process. I shouldn't have to perform quality control for their work to ensure I get what I paid for. From now on, the only time Torchy's will be on my radar is if we happen upon a location outside of Lakeway. read more

Tacos were ok. I ordered a full order of chips and queso on the app and when I got to the store I wanted to order a side of salsa (the app doesn't have the option to order a side of salsa). I told the cashier I already ordered a full order of chips and queso and just wanted a side of salsa with it. He told me it would be $4.60. Four dollars and sixty cents for a small container of salsa (without chips). That's insanity. I joked about it with the bartender while I waited for my food and he laughed and said he could just give me 6 small containers of the "free" salsa which is the same kind as the $4.60 one. Tonight was in really slow queue, on way to LTISD game so in a rush, get to front to be told because I was getting take out I had to go to another queue. Mrs. Texas and I decided to try Torchy's Tacos for the first time and we really enjoyed it. They have a very good and what some may call strange taco selection. I went with the brisket and Mrs. Texas with the bacon and egg, but there are others we want to try once we sat down and studied the menu. They have chips and various salsas as well as some beers. Mixed drinks are available at the bar and they offer traditional beverages such as soda and tea. The prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly and the dinning area was clean though several groups got up and left their mess on the table. "Come on people and be and act like friggin adults and carry your stuff to the trash cans. You're not special and you're not royalty that forces their workers to clean up after you. Mrs. Texas and I carried our stuff to the trash can as every reasonable adult should, especially when that is the intent in this establishment." Back to my review. For those of you who know or follow me, you know I love spicy. I did order my taco with their hottest sauce, Diablo, which is a Habanero based sauce. Though it had a good flavor, I was highly disappointed in the kick of this sauce as it barely had one at all. Other than that, no complaints and we will visit again as there is a location closer to our house, but since we were out checking out the Mansfield Dam, we decided to give them a try. Neat interior with indoor and outdoor seating including an indoor/outdoor bar. We sat at the indoor bar and were served by a very exuberant gentleman who I believe went by the name of TJ. He was a great waiter/bartender and very entertaining. They have a decent number of beers on tap, and we were able to try a couple before picking the ones we really liked. Based on TJ's suggestion, the two of us split three tacos, and it was plenty. We ordered the green chili pork, the baja shrimp, and Mr. Orange (salmon). They were all tasty and each came with a different sauce. The only mild complaint I have would be the thickness of the corn tortillas. I prefer my thin but these were pretty thick. However, as they stuff the tacos full it makes sense so they don't fall apart. We would definitely return. read more

I am posting another review this week following up on my review on 12/10. I noted that, as a loyal Customer, the food at Torchy's is outstanding, but the beer selection is lacking. 10 draft beers, but no dark beers. I addressed the review to the Beer Buyer, but received a response from Torchy's "M". Mr. "M" responded with "Thank You" and "greatly appreciate it"; a very canned, patronizing response. No action, no acknowledgement or understanding of a valid issue, no next steps. Given the time and effort Torchy's spends on the quality of their food and service, it's hard to accept that they listen to sales reps rather than their Customer Base. Last Review: 12/10/21 We eat at Torchy's 2-3 times per week. Quality is outstanding! One on-going complaint: Beers on tap selection. Torchy's has 10 taps. No dark beer. Torchy's offers hoppy beers from 512 and Pint House along with many other IPA styles. They even picked up the latest fad in Austin, Yuengling. That salesman should get a raise for his new distribution across the Market. As an Easterner, it's just a fad taking up a tap. You'll see. When asking the bartenders about getting a dark offering, none of them had any power to affect the selection. I am tired of complaining to them. 512 has a Signature Pecan Porter and already does business with Torchy's. The same goes for Pint House, which offers a Bearded Seal Stout that would even sell at a premium. Either one or both would be a great addition to the offerings. I adore this location. The bartenders (specifically Brandon and TJ) always remember our orders, and even if they're busy make sure we know that they know we're here. It's a popular joint and during lunch hour, it is really busy. I suggest preparing for that time wise as this is not technically fast food. They always take into consideration my gluten needs, and are really kind about it too. The to go ordering has always been seamless and painless and I love that this is my lunch go to when I am in Lakeway! I am a big time fan of the Torchy's queso, so it pains me to write this review. This was my first time at this location, and I came in to place a to-go order. However, when I got there, I could see through the kitchen doors that face of them were not wearing masks and taking them on/off as they went in and out of the kitchen (aka, touching their bare faces and then presumably the food/containers). One man behind the bar wasn't wearing one at all while the other did thoroughly wash their hands. Additionally, they were seating people right up next to other full tables, no spreading out of parties whatsoever. Great food, bad hygiene and protocol amidst a pandemic. read more

When my family came to eat on Father's Day today, our son was the first to order, and the worker at the register was completely 'short' with him. The worker looked and sounded frustrated that our 11 year old had questions about the tacos. After we were all done ordering, and the guy working he counter had been curt to all of us, our son looked like he might cry. He was confused as to why someone would be so rude for no reason at all.
