Torchy's is always a great choice. Staff here are super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed that they get into the holiday spirit and decorate for Halloween. It feels like most places don't do that anymore, sad! Fake spiders, pumpkins, and skeletons, oh my! Now on to the food. I had their breakfast tacos today after church. Let me point out the genius construction. They make their scrambled eggs in a disc and put it closest to the tortilla. This helps keep toppings spillage to a minimum. Although you will still have some grease/sauce drips out the back of the tail end of the taco.

8:05 and the door still isn't open. Annoying especially since it's says 7:50 on the maps and I drove here from the congress location that does not open till 9. Why do you bother selling breakfast burritos for those of us who actually have freaking jobs that start at 9 o'clock?

I order this place maybe 3 times a week while I'm in the last phase of pregnancy, it's all I want to eat. It's amazing quality & taste I used to work for torchys for 4 years when I was younger & will always love it. Hoping this raises awareness with whatever staff is on the clock today bc I don't believe this is a reflection of torchys at all. Accidents do happen I understand. It's been great but all it takes is one hair in the queso to get me to write this. I'm really writing it so the manager can go tell the runners/expo to put their hair up or see who made the queso or poured it for a door dash order on march 6, 12:30pm. I pulled it from the chip I dipped and placed it on the bag. Hair has its bulb. Which is a sign it was plucked from the follicle. I hope that's not the case! I am a long haired blonde so it's not mine...

Torchy's has gone downhill. Friendly service, but taco size is small and sad now, not good value at $5 a taco. Used to be tacos were stuffed with toppings, now my tacos were just small pieces of meat and barely any toppings. Street corn still tasty, habanero salsa still fire, but can't justify $20 for this small amount of food. Bummed, go up the street next time to el rancho where you can have a full dinner for a few bucks more. Next time I'll take my own advice.

Torchys holds a special place in my heart. Easily the best queso I have ever had and if you haven't been here you must try it. Tacos are a bit pricey but they are large and will fill you up. Certainly more of an American fusion taco style place so not your street taco style restaurant. That said, some really delicious tacos like the brushfire, crossroads and baja shrimp. Salsas are really good here and complement each taco very well. Service is typically fast and sitting inside is nice as it has ambient lighting and nice wood tables. Very clean and modern look. Love Torchys!

Torchys didn't disappoint! Brushfire all gone Crossroads I ate later. The chips and queso had right amount of flavor and the Marrgarita was refreshingly delicious! Great friendly and professional staff. Wait was not long. Friendly patrons. My order was to go I would not have had a problem eating in.

Casual vibe and great food. Arrived around 7pm on a Wednesday and it was pretty empty inside. Ordered at the counter and the food came out quick. The brisket taco was amazing (flavorful and tender) and the fried avocado taco was good and similar to the ones I've had in California. The chips at the beginning and churros at the end really stole the show and completed the meal. Highly recommended and will definitely be coming here again!

I got the fried avocado and spicy queso. Both were tasty, torchy's is my favorite Texas taco chain! Our food came out so quickly after ordering, which was nice. We sat outside on the patio and it's definitely a casual dining location, but love to pop in for a bite when I visit!

Bad service and cold freaking food. When I arrived, I explained I had a online order and gave my name and was told to wait. 7 minutes later, with no customers in the place ordering it waiting to order, I asked how much longer since it should have been ready. The same person asked for my name again then pointed to a shelf. After getting home I notice the bag is cold, given I was there a little after my pick up time I wasn't going to fault them. However, my 2 tacos bacon egg potato and cheese tacos were not made fresh. Had to be cold from the start if the cheese did not melt. Although I should be getting a refund this shouldn't have happened. I don't plan to return to this location again

And don't come expecting cheese or sour cream -- the only add‑ons here are cilantro, onions, salsa, and guacamole. It's a stripped‑down menu, and they stick to it. The tacos are solid. The beef isn't anything remarkable, but the chicken is tender, moist, and genuinely flavorful. The quesadilla is the sleeper hit; the baked cheese gives it a deep, savory punch that outshines the tacos. And if you're hungry or just want the best value, the burritos are enormous -- stuffed right up to the tortilla's structural limit. The onions and cilantro greatly balance each bite, while the salsa and guacamole are necessary and fundamental to tying the flavors together.. Sixth Street's neon and noise are basically next door, the Capitol sits up the hill, and the whole area is packed with people, bars, and that classic Austin mix of polished downtown hustle and late-night chaos. Velvet Taco is pure counter-service: you walk right up, order at the register, and then grab a seat. There's plenty of seating, so even with a couple of kids in tow it was no problem finding a spot. The place leans hard into what can only be called white-people tacos--soft, sad flour tortillas that taste like they came straight out of a grocery-store package, loaded with every wild creation the kitchen can invent. Global mashups, brunch hybrids, burger impostors, the works. No one is pretending these are the real deal. I went for the chicken-and-waffles taco, which was actually built on a thin, real waffle instead of a tortilla. Surprisingly good--crispy, a little sweet, chicken holding its own. The burger taco tasted exactly like a cheeseburger that had wandered into a tortilla and decided to stay. We also tried the shrimp taco (fine), one daughter got the kids' chicken taco (perfectly kid-level), and the other ordered the chicken tikka (spicy, saucy, and very much in the "why is this on a tortilla?" category). Everything was okay. Comparable to Torchy's in that same creative-American-taco lane. If you're looking for a true Mexican taco, stay far away. But if you just want to play around with some decent flavors on a cheap flour store-bought tortilla while sitting in the middle of downtown Austin, this is your spot. Not my favorite. Glad I tried it. Won't be back.

The fill ratio was correct: I was able to hold it closed without really squeezing, and better, nothing was soggy to weaken the very lightly warmed tortilla. But I wanted a higher salt level in the eggs and steak, and some crisp on both proteins would've improved texture balance. It's pretty solid. I think my mom would give it a 5. I had only stopped by this Food Truck (area) to try Desnudo Coffee, and spotted this business. I had heard some good things about Veracruz, but I was planning lunch elsewhere. Well, that other spot was CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS! Seeing my situation, I saw it as opportunity to try the options at Veracruz --- including the famous from Food Network, migas taco. I ordered 4 tacos: the migas, migas poblano, shrimp macha (!!), and the Dona Reyna tacos. All of these specific tacos were priced between $6 and $6.75 per taco, not bad in Austin, and not bad considering the quality of said tacos. As you can see from my order, I opted on the more "novel" choices and they did not disappoint; that said, I do HIGHLY recommend the two variations of the migas taco and the shrimp macha taco. Oh, the shrimp macha was so FIRE, the flavors were bold and smoky with a kiss of heat. The migas tacos were FULLY LOADED, and the scramble with the tortilla chips were flavorul. TIP: They will ask corn or flour --- do flour. Everything is handmade, but those corn tortillas fall apart with all the sauce. Flour = durable and flavorful.
