Crack Salad. The name is simply on the nose. My partner and I each got one and could have eaten three a piece. Parmesan galore with capers and citrus playing a strong supporting role. Unreal. We think the vegetables could have been roasted a bit longer for optimal chewiness but they were still divine--especially the way the dressing clung to the brassicas florets. As a kale lover, I would take much more kale, but that's just personal preference, not any denigration of the dish (more kale would make it more of a salad and less of a share plate). The service was friendly and the space had a peaceful minimalist appeal. I imagine other dishes are wonderful too, but it'd be hard not to repeat the salad over and over. We're from out of town but if and when we return to Vancouver, this will definitely be on the itinerary. read more

A friend took me to the restaurant for the first time last Sunday on our walk. I'm glad she suggested the place for lunch. We shared:the Prawn Sando and the Chicken & Crack Rice. I like Torafuku's rendition of the prawn toast that i grew up with. The toasts were done perfectly golden. The bread pieces were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There were chunkful of prawns in every bite. Personally, I wish the prawn filling were a bit more springy. We both loved the chicken and cracked rice. The fried chicken pieces were well balanced with seasoning and tender. I was also very happy with the broken rice used in the dish. There is more surface area with broken rice to pick up the flavours in the seasoning. I hope the soon-to-be-opend new hospital nearby will help revitalize the neighbourhood. read more

Ambiance was really nice, hard to find parking. Our service was pretty slow, they seemed busy and weren't able to check up on our table often so we were waiting pretty long in between meals. Food was okay, came here for Dineout to try out their menu. Felt like it was slightly over priced as it was served family style. The striploin was cooked nicely but there's a lot of green onion ginger sauce masking the taste of the meat. Everything else tasted good but nothing really stood out. read more

Located in the Chinatown area of Main St has me hesitating to visit. Parking can be a problem as well. Today we braved the area and we're glad we did. Hugo is an angel. He recommended their most popular dishes. Knowing it's our first time here, he also informed us of their Omakase menu. We had their BEEF NOODLE SOUP as well as CHICKEN & CRACK. Both dishes were good. Every time I take the Amtrak to Vancouver, Torafuku is a must-stop for me. On this trip, I had lunch at the restaurant and grabbed takeout for my train ride back. The vibe is great, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. ​The Food: For lunch, I tried the Pork Belly and the Chicken. The pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the chicken was perfectly crispy and easy to eat. I left feeling very full and satisfied! For my dinner to-go, I ordered the "Finger Lickin' Chicken," "Crack Salad," and "I Love Dumplings"--all were fantastic. ​The Service: I arrived a bit early to pick up my order and asked if they had a good coffee. The staff was so kind and take care me a cup of coffee while I waited. That kind of hospitality really makes a difference! ​Why 4 Stars: The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the bowl served during lunch was chipped in two places. Since they are a Michelin-recommended spot, I expected a bit more attention to the condition of the tableware. ​Overall, it's a wonderful gem in Vancouver with amazing flavors. I dropped in for a quick lunch on a weekday. Kale Salad The kale and tomato were very cold, I really should've sent them back to be microwaved for a good 15 seconds. The crispy topping were nice. Beef Noodle Soup Very beefy and beef perfectly cooked, very nice soft poached egg, good portion of thick noodles. Two ladles short of broth. Dessert The dessert I wanted wasn't ready and they offered me another dessert on their regular menu. There is no name I can find online or on menu and the server just said chocolate, however this was a good 9/10. Reminds me of Chez Christophes chocolate torte. I really liked the raspberry sauce and milk powder crumble pairing. The reason why it wasn't a 10/10 is the choice/brand of chocolate used. Few qualms considering its under a Michelin Umbrella hence the expectations. Out of the 3 dishes, all 3 plates/bowls are chipped. Chip dishes/bows harbour bacteria. The choice of the Taiwanese Noodle Bowl is a good 20cm tall, it's very difficult to eat from and the choice of ceramic reminds me of eating out of an old planter. When I asked about the tableware, the server wasn't knowledgeable about the artisan or acknowledge my concerns if there is another option to eat my noodles in a different bowl. Service was good and friendly, nothing above and beyond. Ambiance is nice and cozy. Food was overall good, most items were a 4/5. Kale salad had a funky taste like sardines but there's no sardines in it, so that was a 3.5/5 for me. Pasta had good flavour but alittle too al dente (3.5/5). My favourites of the night were the potatoes with the delicious dipping sauce, the chicken wings were good (not crispy since there's sauce on top), and these deep fried mushrooms. A few days ago, I went to this place and had such a lovely experience. The food was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. I ordered the French toast, which was perfectly golden on the outside and soft on the inside, not overly sweet, and very well balanced. The fresh strawberries and light cream on top added a nice freshness without overpowering the dish. I also really enjoyed the overall atmosphere. It felt relaxed, cozy, and ideal for a slow brunch or a casual catch up. Service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Very enjoyable experience for date night which made it special and more importantly, it was kid-free! Heads up that there was a WEIRD smell, maybe bad BO or something, when we first entered, but I'm glad we stuck it out instead of leaving because the staff was very attentive and food/food timing was excellent in pacing. Shared the tasting menu with my husband, which was interesting with complex flavour combinations and lots of ingredients that I wouldn't put together at home in a million years, so it was definitely worth it. Portion sizes were just right and I'm glad I was sharing with my husband as opposed to anyone else because it was comfortable eating from the same bowls and things. The huge long table was empty the whole time we were there but it makes me think it would be a lovely place for a big group (i.e. small to medium-size company dinner). We enjoyed our amply sized booth for two near the door. The opening and closing was actually refreshing for the air needing to cycle. We got used to the weird smell though and dinner was great. We had to push it back to 12:45 at the last minute and couldn't do it online but were able to call to do so. It wasn't busy here, only a couple other tables. Our server was friendly and helpful. Visited Torafuku for Dine Out and had an absolutely stellar lunch experience. Everything from start to finish was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Started with the green beans and fried tofu as appetizers; both were fantastic. The green beans had this perfect crunch that made them satisfying to eat. The fried tofu was a standout though. The batter was incredibly light and the tofu itself was fried to perfection. What really elevated it was the sauce, which had just the right lightness to balance out the richness of the fried coating without overwhelming the dish. For the main, I went with the 1/2 rice bowl (pork belly and fried chicken) and I cannot recommend this enough. The pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the fried chicken arrived crispy and piping hot. The sauce paired beautifully with the chicken, but the real MVP here was the poached egg. When you mix it with the rice and pork belly, it adds this wonderful creamy texture that brings the whole bowl together. Finished with the panna cotta served with berry sauce - a simple dessert done right. Sometimes that's all you need to cap off a great meal. Torafuku absolutely delivered on the Dine Out menu. This was a tough one to bite, or even finish. Like some of the other reviews here, we too were victims of another Vancouver social media marketing scheme. TLDR: this place just isn't it. Third star only going up because cocktails were pretty good. How Torafuku managed to get Michelin recommendations is beyond me. The $70 chefs tasting menu screamed "HELP" from another struggling Vancouver F&B business. Some pointers that I could not help sharing: 1. Why were the dishes being rushed out? 2. How are they being rushed out and already cold? Ok, some dishes were meant to be cold but the fluidity of this tasting menu made no sense. In terms of flavor and presentation, the Hiramasa crudo was THE BEST dish of the night. Everything else literally floundered after that. Plating on the bison tartare, which was unfortunately one of better dishes, was uneven - a shame because it was such a glaring error. Beet salad was just a beet salad sans seasoning - maybe you are meant to taste the produce and nothing else? The octopus, for me, was over cooked and the pearl cous cous was undercooked. Tough day in the kitchen. Then came the mains (each priced at $48 for alacarte). Texture wise, I don't know what's going on with the beef. You have slimy beef with slimy celeriac purée. The halibut was probably the worst of the lot - these guys need to go to a fish n' chip shop to figure out how to retain some moisture in the fish. You know that dried out vegan meat? That's what halibut is NOT supposed to taste like. There was no flakiness, just a brick of weird play dough served almost cold with a sprinkling of umami to cover up the entire thing. I usually never waste food but at this point, I was forcing myself to have another bite of the fish just for principle and to give it another chance . Unfortunately, I couldn't finish and I hope they see that plate go back to the kitchen. This was unfortunately one of those experiences that the waiter would keep asking "how is everything?" And you would just politely smile to not hurt their feelings. Plus sides were definitely the cocktails and the basque cheesecake. Portions are large, so if you value quantity over quality, come try it out. If I were to ever come back, it'll be for the alacarte appetizers and the drinks! read more

I feel bad only giving this place one star because the service wasn't terrible, but the food was AWFUL. Definitely the worst omakese I've ever had, which was a bummer because we know Vancouver is known for having great food and the reviews on this place were decent! The restaurant is minimalistic - plain walls and pretty small, but reminiscent of something you'd find in Japan. We did the tasting menu which was $75CAD pp and another $38CAD pp for the wine pairing. The beet salad was probably the best thing I ate all dinner but it was a pretty basic beet salad. The foie gras dish was.... Interesting. The milk bread it came with was good, but the other stuff (random jams and the mousse) was bizarre. The king salmon crudo looked great but the sauces it was served with were way too overpowering. They need to cut out the curry sauce. The SSAM was another interesting dish. Not terrible, but I guess I wasn't expecting a warm beef tartare-type dish. The black cod was just okay, and the pork dish at the end was so bad. The pork had us wondering if we mistakenly chose a vegan restaurant because the texture and taste were so unlike anything pork tastes like. By the time dessert came around, I was not hungry at all, even though I only had a few bites of each dish. I gave it an honest try! The wine pairing was also underwhelming and not worth the $38. Interesting experience, but I wouldn't come back. Let's just say, I'm glad I wasn't starving when I got to dinner! read more

We arrived at Torafuku early one evening when the restaurant was nearly empty and left when it was back to the same at the end of the night. We were never rushed and had a proper catch up as a result. I loved the produce-forward menu, from which we enjoyed: beet salad, kale salad, brussel salad, and crispy halibut. The kale salad was especially tasty with its buttermilk dressing, crispy quinoa, and pickled shallot. We ordered the kale salad to start and I got the cod for my main, and she got the pasta. The kale salad came out pretty quick and it was super tasty! Loved the shallots on it. However, we then waited an hour for our mains. My reservation was 6:30pm and I didn't get to eat the cod until 7:40pm... the wait was quite disappointing as we were sitting and staring at the kitchen. However, the food was good. Blown away by the beef noodle soup where I was able to smell the fragrant broth and the beef shank fell apart when I picked it up. The house made noodles is a little chewy which hang on well with the soup. Shout out to Miguel where he explained why the food is so special because they use very fresh ingredients! The Finger Lickin' Chicken is SO good with thin breading and juicy meat. The Basque cheesecake is gooey and the blueberry compote took it to the next level! Torafuku is one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver! Every time I come I get the tasting menu, and all the dishes usually hit! For appetizers, we had the Heirloom tomato salad, Hiramasa Crudo, Bison Tartar, and Octopus. The star of these appetizers was the Hiramasa Crudo for me. Every bite was delectable -- it was incredible. The sauce paired so well. The Heirloom tomato salad was okay. I really enjoyed the candied walnuts but everything else was average. The Bison Tartar was surprisingly light, which was very welcome. The taro chips for it were nice and crunchy. The Octopus was cooked very well, and the Taiwanese sausage that came with it was delicious. The sauce was great and paired well with everything. For mains, we had the Halibut and Duck dishes. The Halibut dish also included tiger prawns and Hokkaido scallops. I loved this dish as it also came in a tom khai coconut sauce, which is a curry-like soup. Everything melded well together. However, the Duck risotto was my favourite of the mains! The duck was cooked to perfection and whatever topping they put for flavouring was amazing. For dessert, we chose the Semifreddo (which I forgot to take a picture of). It just seemed like we were eating ice cream. It was really good, but not very standout. Really unique flavour though (osmanthus) and I really liked the meringue. Service was amazing as always and ambiance was nice. However, if there is a loud group next to you, you basically won't be able to hear anything else. read more

Very odd place. Not Japanese, not Chinese, I know it says Asian fusion but it's like ... Italian food trying to be Japanese I guess? I didn't get it. Just left feeling hungry and confused after the 7 course omakase and wine pairing. Nothing works together, don't understand the Michelin rating what so ever. The decor is ALSO confusing! Moving blankets on the walls??? Insulation is now decor? That's so dirty, who wants insulation dust hovering over their food? I hope that's just temporary but I feel like it's not sadly. I came here for the Vancouver dine out experience (I actually didn't know it was a restaurant doing this I just really wanted to try Torafuku!) so it being in the dine out experience was a happy surprise. I ordered the "green lambo" drink. And I never knew an alcoholic beverage could taste sooooo good. Up next for course one and two was the beet salad (so good, so pretty) and the bison tar tar. It was my first experience with a bison tar tar and it was good. Had an abundance of flavor. Up next the muscles, and holy moly. They had chilies in them that added such good spice and flavor that I will never be able to enjoy muscles again unless it's from here. The final was the steak and shrimp and 10/10. Finished up with a cheesecake that wasn't my favorite but could also be because I was stuffed. The service was top notch, every encounter with staff was amazing. They were on it, food was spaced out nicely, and they were attentive. The ambiance is nice, I really liked their plates they served the food on. (Yes I looked the plates up, I ordered some) the restaurant is modern and unique. If you go to the washroom there's a wall of their rewards and a nice framed article about the business so it was nice to read. Will be coming back! read more

First time checking out Torafuku, a Taiwanese fusion restaurant. It's a few doors down from The American and Bodega on Main. We dropped in on a Friday (with 12:15pm reservations). No need to make a reservation for lunch. Service was fine but slow. Lunch menu is short with sharing plates, kickass rice bowls, beef noodle soup and basque cheesecake. There's a small happy hour (Wednesday to Sunday, 3:00pm to 5:30pm). Dinner is pricey a la carte but there's a 7 course tasting menu option ($65.00/person). - I love dumpling ($10.00) - 5 small dumplings. Nothing special about them or their house made chili vinaigrette. - Pork belly rice ($16.00) - braised pork belly was tender, not too fatty. - Fried chicken rice ($16.00) - gluten free chicken. Nicely done (crispy texture and juicy), 7 spice mayo was decent. - The chicken & crack rice ($17.00) - if you get one of the rice bowls, make sure it's with the crack rice (brussel sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli and kale with parmesan and lemon essence). All the vegetables were tasty. - The pork belly & crack rice ($17.00) - 2x Torafuku beef noodle soup ($20.00) - beef shanks were tender. Noodles slurpable but wanted them more toothsome. Broth lacked depth. You're better off going to RedBeef Noodle Kitchen to get your Taiwanese beef noodle fix. Decent flavours but nothing stood out to warrant a return visit. 3.5 stars. read more

Had the tasting menu dinner for two, which was $70 per person. Felt inspired to go here after seeing a Tiktok, and it looked like each person got a small dish in the video but in reality you share one small dish between two. The portion sizes were definitely small for $70 per person and the restaurant itself had a canteen/cafeteria open concept that I'm not sure fit the food vibes. In terms of taste, nothing really wowed me and if they were pretty good there usually wasn't enough of it. The Bison Tartar and Hiramasa Crudo were tasty but the tartar was so tiny and the crudo had 4 slices only. The big dishes (the beef and halibut in photo) weren't standouts to me, the halibut was definitely overcooked so it was super dry against the risotto and the braised beef cheek had all these sauces but all you could taste was... braised beef. The mocktail drinks were $7 each, the Yuzu Lemon Soda lacked the soda pop and had a very sugary sweet taste but the Kyoto Summer (an iced americano with yuzu juice) was delicious. Service was at least decent and the Basque Cheesecake we chose was delicious as well. Overall, nothing special and don't think I would revisit for that price but if you're interested in certain dishes I would iust order ala carte. read more

finally got to try this michelin recommended, asian fusion restaurant located at 958 main street, in a sketchy part of town. we managed to get 2 hour parking on the side, by the ivanhoe, as parking on main street wasn't available at 4:00 pm. we were a party of three, had made resos through open table and arrived around 4:00 pm on a wednesday. we were the only diners at this time, and it was nice that we were able to catch up and carry on a conversation without straining our ears and having to shout. torafuku is spacious with a long communal table, standard table seating and an open kitchen concept. the servers were pleasant, accommodating and made great recommendations. they were out of their matcha tea for the matcha madness cocktail, so i had the emarosa and then the yuzu lov. we started off with sharing the following happy hour items: brussel sprout salad, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprout, black vinegar, chickpea, roasted soy bean, the caramelization of the vegetables were so good and the texture of the chickpea was powdery once you took a bite into it. kanpachi crudo, ginger white soy dressing, this was a delicate dish, the kanpachi was sliced thinly, and it was melt in your mouth. chicken wings, general tao's sauce, fried chicken wings, with grilled broccolini we then had the seven course omakase tasting menu, $70/person, minimum 2 people sharing roasted beets, burrata, mixed greens, honey crisp apple, chardonnay vinaigrette, candied walnuts bison tartare, shallots, chives, crispy quinoa, cured egg yolk with salted rice crispy, great texture and flavours totten inlet mussels, spicy genmai miso butter, sake, cream, herbs, we got 2 orders of the mussels in lieu of the kanpachi crudo, mussels were plump and juicy black cod bouillabaisse, tiger prawns, fennel, leeks, tomato, dashi broth pain au lait, house made japanese milk buns and for dessert, we had the dark chocolate ganache praline crunch, milk chocolate mousse milk crumble. great ambience, sophisticated cocktails, innovative menu and well executed dishes. most everything we had was delicious, the stand outs were the bison tartare, kanpachi crudo, brussel sprout salad, mussels, and burrata, the only disappointment was the main entree, black cod. torafuku filled up quickly as the evening progressed. don't know why it took us this long to finally try this place, they just celebrated their eighth year anniversary this past october. we will definitely be coming back. read more

Their July omakase menu was delicious! I pretty much enjoyed my entire meal and even though I was full, after I finished their basque cheesecake I still wanted more. Only thing I really docked a star for was that their cocktails took a long time (perhaps no professional bartender? Still pretty good though) and one of their dishes was a little too heavy handed with salt. There's room for improvement, but very close to 5 stars for me. Definitely want to come back again and improve their rating :) P.s. it is not the most comfy seating or lighting for people who don't enjoy the dark, but you come here purely for the food :) At least I would. read more

I think it was a lemongrass sauce on the outside 9/10 Fish (sea bass I think, with side of butter rice) - least of my fave dishes. Fish was very mushy alongside the vegis that were all very overcooked in a broth. side of rice was okay 5/10. We did not finish Dessert - panna cotta - blueberry compote, tasted like rice barley in a way? Found this so refreshing and delish. Probably my fave panna cotta 10/10 Service: friendly but we sat at the bar and we still had to waive bartender down for another drink. Atmosphere/vibe: it was very bright and looked like an unfinished restaurant with some walls unfinished and completely white walls. Unless that was the look and design they were going for. No air flow and very warm. We saw a few people just sweating and fanning themselves. For a Michelin guide restaurant and glowing reviews, I think we just went in with higher expectations. Torafuku, Main St. Vancouver Part of Michelin Guide 2022 and 2023 My my, where do I start with this place!? They had a fire sometime in the summer and are back again. Simple decor, really attentive and active staff. The Chef Tasting Menu is highly recommended. Starters: Mussels (5/5) - Fresh, the miso butter is to die for, I almost licked the plate to the last drop. Bison Tartar (5/5) - melt in the mouth texture, comes with fried wonton wrapper to scoop everything in. Rice crisp are a fun surprise in the texture. Hiramasa Crudo (5/5) - citrusy, Gingery and again melt in your mouth soft texture. I need more than an appy size for this one. Burrata Salad (5/5) - Fresh salad and Burrata. Mains: Black Cod (5/5) The tomato dashi broth can be scooped up with the dinner rolls. Highly recommended wiping the plate clean, fennel adds an extra freshness to the already tasty broth - Cod was well done and soft. Desserts: Magic Stick. Had some very high expectations for this place especially with a Michelin guide rating and rave reviews. I'll let you know why I had my pros and cons despite all the hype surrounding this eatery'. First off not a pro or con but this place is located in a pretty inconspicuous building that seemed unoccupied just outside the main corridor of Vancouver's Chinatown and had to circle the block twice to find it. I like the vibe of the neighborhood and feel this eatery could bring in more establishments to a once unwanted area. Upon walking in you'll see a modern open space dining area with a large communal table and bench seating with tables large enough for four to six people. The open aired kitchen is lined with bar style seating and tables for two lining the wall on the side of the kitchen. After seeing my fav YouTuber rave about the beef noodle soup, I had my heart set on that and put this place down on our must go to list, only to find out from our server that it was served for lunch only:( After an initial disappointment I looked over the dinner menu closer and felt I could find an alternative:) Since our reservation was at 4:45pm and we didn't know dinner wasn't served until 5pm our server did let us know that happy hour was still on with discounts on cocktails and certain appetizers. Topping the cocktail list was the Torafuku sour which was made with olong tea infused Canadian Club rye, elderflower syrup, lemon, yuzu juice, and topped with egg white. We had three appetizers and what stood out to us was the Brussels sprout salad that came out on a pretty dish and consisted of roasted cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprout, chickpea, roasted soy bean and a black vinegar type dressing. Another good appetizer to try is the chicken wings with General Tao's sauce. For entrees we had 2x the black cod which resembled a ciopino with a chowder like broth and had shrimp that were nicely cooked as was the grilled black cod. I'm not a fan of miso cod but this one had a light flavor that did t overtake the fish. Our friend commented that the broth tasted like chicken noodle soup but we all agreed it didn't so you be the judge. I really liked the overall ambiance of the place! Now for the not so perfect four star rating I do have to say the service was not on par and we seemed to be ignored in large part by our server especially as they got busy even though we could see him just standing by the kitchen. Since our backs were to where the servers stood I overheard two of them say one party was complaining because they had t even ordered after waiting for 45 minutes. As for the other dishes the kanpachi crudo was meh and the slices of fish were way too thick and you could hardly taste the ginger soy dressing. As for the main courses the NY strip sirloin with chimichuri sauce they didn't ask our friend how she'd like it prepared and it came out cooked medium with the meat being a bit tough and chewy. The roasted dried aged duck paired with an asian pear arugula salad and tamari sauce was OK but was a bit on the dry side. I felt there could be some improvements made to the overall experience. Great food and an innovative menu for a take out celebration. Amazing Mother's Day set menu this weekend featuring their flavourful and tender hainanese chicken with chicken fat rice (a little too rich but oh so delicious). It also came with XO Sauce grilled vegetables and a brussel sprouts/broccoli salad that was doused in green goddess dressing. On top of this, we were treated to a madeline cake that was gently soaked in syrup and had a floral taste to it. My mom absolutely loved this set but it was only half of what we ordered that night! We added on two rice bowls including the katsu beef tongue (which was so tender and delicious) as well as their scallop and mussels that sported a large quantity of plump mussels. The egg ontop of the rice was like the icing on the cake and added some moisture to the already stellar bowl. We also added some appetizers including their finger licking chicken which was perfectly named as each piece stayed crispy and had a great balance of salty and spicy. The calamari was not my favourite since the batter was quite thick but the dumplings were very tasty, although a bit pricey. My favourite of the night was their beef noodle soup that had two huge pieces of tender and flavourful beef shank in one of the best broths for beef noodles I have had. It was only a little bit spicy but remained a bomb of flavour. The noodles were cooked al dente and that egg...perfection in a bowl! I would not hesitate to order this again and again! I'm so so impressed with the flavors here! I recommended both the crack salad and the kale salad, both are hearty and flavorful, and so so full of rich textures. The fried chicken has been fried to perfection and the rice in the rice bowl is also seasoned with the most perfect umami flavorings. Our server was so nice and helpful, and the ambiance is modern and chic. This is such an all around wonderful spot and I hope to return soon! read more

Their November Omakase was delicious! Our table of 3 decided to choose the omakase for simplicity and variety. The omakase will include a variety of appetizers, a choice of a main dish and a choice of the dessert. My highlights: - drinks 5/5; delicious and delicate flavours - burrata 5/5: the flavours married so well - kanapachi crudo 5/5: perfect balance of ginger and radish with the fish - sweet potato 4/5: slightly too soft for my preference but the candied almonds and ricotta were incredible - chuck slaw 3.5/5: nothing extraordinary but the coleslaw was delicious - basque cheesecake 4/5: the cheesecake was great but because of how heavy it was, would've preferred the compote to be a bit tart/sour to balance the flavours. Taiwanese beef noodle soup used to be my favourite food until I ate it too often. Now, I'm sick of it but I still crave it once a while. I dined at Torafuku many years ago and I really enjoyed it. Since I heard so many good things about their beef noodles, I decided to check it out. I came here a few months ago but they were sold-out so when I stepped in today, I asked right away if they still had any left. Luckily, they did. I had their beef noodle soup with a side order of eggplants. The 72 hours beef broth was amazing! I can really taste the flavours without being too salty. The hand pulled noodles were so chewy and the beef shank was thick and tender. My eggplants were good too. It was a cold dish but the flavours were on point. I have a habit of complimenting the chef (if I see him or her). When I paid my bill, I said to the chef that I love the noodles soup. He just said "thank you" so that he appears polite but I know that he didn't really seem to care. The server wasn't as friendly too so yea this review deserved a 5 star but I knocked off 1 star because of the service. read more
