Topnotch was recommended to me by a friend who just finished remodeling his basement. The reputation of topnotch and the work done on my friends basement that I saw first hand was more than enough for me to select them as my contractor - and it was the best decision I have made. Steve and his team did a complete remodel of the kitchen/living room/dining room of my newly purchased condo in long beach. What used to be three dark enclosed rooms separated by walls was opened up to one great room filled with light and perfect for entertaining. I explained to Steve from the very beginning that I have no knowledge in any way, shape or form of construction, craftsmanship, remodeling or designing. I indicated that I wanted an open layout with a one-wall kitchen and the finished product looks like a cutout from a magazine. Every night after work I would head to the condo to see what the Topnotch team completed that day - and everytime I walked in I was more impressed than the day before. Steve was easily reachable to answer my questions and walk me through what was completed that day and what was in store for the next day. He met me in long beach after work on several occasions to personally show me the progress and I remember that even on Father's Day he took 30 minutes to talk to me about the remaining parts of the project. Steve and his team even fixed up minor areas of the unit that we never even discussed (I.e re-mounting doors on hinges, fixing up some broken molding and replacing light fixtures) and were fixed at no additional charge. These may be small items easily fixed by someone handy but to me they were another language. It was clear to me that the top notch team would not satisfied until the condo was perfect. Being that the work was being done within a condominium building, the construction needed to be done within specific hours of the day and certain rules and regulations needed to be followed in order to not disturb the other unit owners. Steve and his team followed every rule layed out by the condo board and even sent weekly letters to each unit owner in the building alerting them that construction was going on and apprised them of the status. Several unit owners personally mentioned to me that the topnotch team didn't cause any trouble within the building and was friendly and inviting during the process. other unit owners, after seeing the finished product, asked for their own estimates on similar renovations. Steve walked me through every single step of the renovation, from the design, to the cabinets, measurements, backsplash, painting, molding and on and on. He had every single aspect of the job coordinated seamlessly as it was second hand nature. From the cabinets on Monday to the electrician on Tuesday to the plumber on Wednesday and painter on Thursday, it was clear that Topnotch Construction is well versed in their business and knows how to get a job done in the time frame discussed and on budget. Steve told me from the very beginning that when you start knocking down walls, there may be surprises. I can honestly say that there were no surprises. Even when adjustments to the original plan needed to be made, the topnotch team was three steps ahead of the game. When the backsplash I picked out was over budget, Steve found a near identical replacement within 24 hours and had it picked up and installed the next day. When two cabinet doors were delivered damaged, Steve had new ones in place by the end of the week. When building permits were required for certain aspects of the job, Steve had the paperwork filed within hours of notification. As big of a job as this was, the top notch team made this look easy. And they enjoyed doing it. They took pride in taking this condo to the next level and making it my home. Regardless of the style of renovations that you are considering, if you want it completed the right way, and on time, and within budget and as stress-free as possible, then Topnotch Construction is your best option. Hands down.
