It's a pretty neat hangout spot with a bar and food service, virtual baseball and football, bowling, darts, and several other games. Our work event had lunch catered, including green beans, mac and cheese, sliders, chicken tenders, rosemary potatoes, cookies, brownies, and doughnut holes. Overall, the food was pretty good. The mac and cheese was a little bland and could have used more seasoning, but the chicken tenders were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Honestly, if I wasn't there for work, I probably would have gorged myself on those chicken tenders . And the brownie? Spectacular. Thick, moist, and super fudgy, definitely the highlight for me! Service was great also-they came around routinely checking in to see if we needed any drinks, cleaned up plates, etc. Not necessarily somewhere I'd go specifically for myself, but I can absolutely see the appeal for groups, work events, or anyone looking for a fun place to hang out, eat, drink, and play some games.

The venue is spacious and has plenty of room for larger parties, creating an energetic social environment. On this visit, we tried the virtual reality games and came away underwhelmed. Some of the equipment needed to fully enjoy the experience was unavailable, and the gameplay itself felt clunky and repetitive after a few rounds. We skipped the food but enjoyed our drinks, and our server, Mike, was friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our visit. While the VR attractions were not for us, the overall ambiance left a positive impression. We'd be willing to return to check out the boutique bowling, which looks like it may be the better experience. If you're looking for a fun place to gather with friends, Fairway Social is worth considering, just manage your expectations for the virtual games.

This was a super convenient stop while we were out and about, but I wouldn't be going back for the sole purpose of having a meal.

He was very friendly and attentive. We started off with a triple play cheesy fries without bacon, but when we got it, it did have bacon on it, but Scott quickly went to the back to have that fixed since he did put in that no bacon was wanted on it. I was here about a week ago, and fell in love with the tailgate burger the tomatoes and onions on there were so fresh and that is hard to find. I got American cheese on mine and I did get it well done they usually cook it medium well so if you want it a different way you need to let them know. The side that I got was broccoli with shredded cheese on top and it was very delicious. My son had the honey barbecue boneless wings extra sauce with some french fries. The only thing that I wish was different is that they had Coke products because they have Pepsi and I don't really care much for Pepsi so I had a sweet tea that was very good. I got to use my five dollar off birthday reward. I did go into the bathrooms and they were clean. I used to hesitate coming here but here lately they are really hitting it out of the park.

I've been eating at Baumhower's for over 30 years and the Jamaican jerk sandwich is the only thing I've ever had here. However after a starter of gooey fries, which are always great, I did decide for the GOOEY CHAR-GRILLED CHICKEN PLATTER Jumbo fresh mojo-marinated char-grilled lemon pepper chicken breast, smothered in our scratch-made Blanco cheese and bacon bits. Served with garlic mashed potatoes, scratch-made green beans and buttermilk ranch. I doubled the mashed potatoes as I don't eat green beans. The chicken lacked much taste, it was covered in gooey Blanco cheese and a decent helping of bacon bits, but even that couldn't save it. The chicken breast was of a good size, but thin. It just wasn't what I had thought it would be. The gooey fries, like I said, never disappoint. I could (and should have) made a meal of just the fries. The atmosphere overall is great, there are TVs wherever you turn, as it is a sports themed restaurant. The service was good, my waiter made sure that I didn't run out of tea and checked back on me several times without overdoing it. Overall, if I go back it will be strictly for the gooey fries, there just isn't much on the menu that excites me anymore.

The staff is always nice and food always comes out and prompt. I usually only get wings but decided to try one of their signature burgers. I got the mushroom and Swiss burger. I used several napkins and it still didn't seem like enough. I will probably stick to the wings from here on out.

The bartender was friendly and she fixed some darn good drinks. They have live music, a plus in my book. They also have outside seating. We started with fried oysters and fried crab claws, both could have been seasoned a little more, other than that they were pretty tasty. I ordered the twice baked tater with chicken and it was surprisingly good and loaded with chicken. My husband had the 1/2 rack of ribs with baked beans and macaroni and cheese. The ribs were very tender but needed more smoke flavor. The baked beans were not good; lacked flavor and tasted like canned pork and beans. The mac and cheese was decent, nothing to brag about. The owner/manager stopped by and apologized for the wait. It took a while for our appetizers to arrive. I appreciate the fact that he took the time to address the wait as he did with other customers. Our server was friendly, very attentive and also apologized for the wait. We do plan on returning to try other items on the menu and to have a good drink.

It was most recently Palm & Pig. I tried it when it was Palm and Pig and I thought it was rather good. Hillside is located near the Vestavia City Center right next to Bob's Power Equipment, which ironically has been in that location for over 20 years at least. Hillside is located on at the end of a small strip so they have a nice outdoor space with a covered patio. It's great for a guitar player and with big heaters is even pleasant to sit out there (when it wasn't Hillside). The interior is quite large despite the small entrance. It extends quite far to the back. They have a nice little bar and a good side stage for their many live performers. In fact their very model for this restaurant thrives on live performers with "Band Inquiries Call 205-901-2225" centered on their menu! Our party arrived on bustling Friday evening. Luckily we didn't have to wait long at all and got a table right away. Our server arrived quickly and got our drink orders. There wasn't a performer but the place was loud with chatter. While we were there, a two man guitar group started setting up. Our drinks arrived promptly and our orders taken. About 15 minutes later our food arrived. Matthew tried the Diablo burger. I had to have a bite and it was spicy as promised. Their "Dooom a -que" sauce wasn't bad. Tammy and Jack tried the Philly. Shaved ribeye, caramelized onions and topped with American cheese on a cuban roll. It also wasn't bad. Plentiful grilled beef and good bread. Sarah had the Hillside burger. It was also good and burger a nice medium. I tried the shrimp poboy. Lettuce, onion, pickle were topped with 6 perfectly fried shrimp in a slightly toasted hoagie bun. After I lathered it with the smoked tomoato aioli sauce which was served on the side, I took my first bite and was impressed. I've had worse and this poboy was quite enjoyable! Yom Yom Yom. We also really enjoyed the "okra fries". The cucumber salad was rather underwhelming and the fries were soggy and undersalted. Surprisingly none of us tried any of their bbq. A good reason to return. We had a good time and had great service. If you enjoy good ole southern comfort food and good live entertainment, give Hillside a try.
