I really want to give this place a better rating. The experience itself is refreshing and affordable. The problem is the miscommunication and poorly trained staff. My first visit involved getting a text for our bay opening in 15 minutes only to find it was sent about half an hour prematurely. It was a small, forgivable mistake and we still had a great time otherwise. We should have had another message saying so because we only found out from asking the front desk and got the right notification sometimes afterwards. The second and most recent visit was poor. We called ahead to see how the wait times were and was told they were quoting 30 minutes. We arrive not longer than 5-10 minutes at 4 PM to get an hour wait. That's fine. It's busy, it happens, and we weren't going to walk out over it. A little over an hour passed and I checked with the front desk to make sure my phone number was registered correctly and it was. They said they had the bay number assigned and said the heads up text would be coming in just 5 more minutes. 15 minutes pass and I check again with the desk as I STILL have not gotten the 15 minute notification from them. 5 more minutes they say. It's almost ready. Since I was told the bay number earlier by the front desk, I go outside to check on it myself. It was empty, unsupervised, and sitting beside plenty of other unoccupied bays. Still stood there waiting for anything to pop up on my phone and nothing. I give the 2 stars for the supposed manager on the floor who finally helped and gave us a complimentary hour for the trouble. The staff is great at apologizing, but I'm hoping it won't be necessary for a future visit. read more

We had a great time! The service was spot on, the people that worked there were very friendly and professional with a relaxed vibe. I learned I can hit a ball pretty well. The food was really good. The music was energetic and made me want to dance all night. After hitting some balls we went to the beautiful cocktail/bar area and had a few with a group of friends. A few of my friends and I decided to go to Top golf today. One of my friends had never been to Top Golf before. She claims she will "probably never go back." First off, we walked in and everything was great. Our service was amazing, until the waitress came. The first thing she did was tell one of my friends she cannot bring in any outside drinks, my friend did not bring in an outside drink. She tried to explain it was not her drink but our server had a very bad attitude about it. She never introduced herself. We had to look at her name tag to figure out that her name is Vanessa P. After she told us to throw away the outside drink, she asked if we would like any drinks. When we said we would all like water, she had another bad attitude. Between those times, she came to the table two more times. One to ask if everything was alright, and the second to be rude and petty. Our time was running out, so we got 3 balls out, not realizing it is against policy. Vanessa came up behind us and told us we are not allowed to have more than one ball. My friend was confused on what to do with the other two balls. With an attitude, Vanessa took the two balls and THREW THEM. After that, she decided to make it a point to stand behind us with her arms crossed staring at us. When I looked back, I noticed that the group beside us had three balls out also. Vanessa did not say a thing to them, even though she saw it clearly. I turned to one of my friends and said "she is standing behind us watching us." I spoke quietly. I assume Vanessa could read lips. She knew I was not talking to her and she continued to say "yeah I am." With a bad attitude and terrible tone in her voice. I have never had a bad server at top golf before. I do not understand what Vanessa had against us. We were not being disrespectful or obnoxious. read more

I went to top golf last week and this was the worst experience ever. We sat In The bar area and it took about 7-10 min before someone came over and took our order. Next it took about 30 minutes to receive cold food. It was a Tuesday and the place was not packed at all. Once I got my cold dry looking nachos I asked the girl does this not look dry to you and she replied "yes it does". I knew it had been sitting up there because the sour cream turned color like when its been under heat. I asked her to take it back to re cook and she never came back. The girl that took our order said she was going to hand us off to another waitress. We never saw her or knew who she was. My friend ordered wings that were cold and she asked for ranch and again the girl never came back to even give her the ranch once she left with my food to take back. so we left after being there for over a hour and not a piece of food touched my tongue. To top it off at TOP GOLF I was still charged for food I never touched and then the girl decided she want to add a $5 tip when I never saw a ticket or signed for anything because I left. What type of business are y'all running to allow employees to add their own tip. Very much disrespectful and ghetto and I will never step foot back in there. And I will be going up there to speak with a manager. read more

Went there for my birthday and tried to invite 12 people. Only 10 showed up and the manager ended up charging my card for $450 instead of the original $250 because our bays were right next to each other and then they told me I had to order $200 worth of food and couldn't not order. Worst experience of my life. Literally got robbed on my birthday. read more

Saturday July 30 2022 approximately 10pm. I made the mistake of eating there. There is an option for a veggie patty on the burgers. I ordered nachos and asked that the veggie patty be crumbled on top. I got nachos with a whole patty sitting on it. Then came the fun part. I was charged for an entire burger. I was never asked if I wanted the fries/tots/salad that comes with a burger so being charged for it came as an unpleasant surprise. The manager, with his probably two days of restaurant experience, refused to adjust the bill in any way. Topgolf is out to rob you blind. I would advise checking your bill every time, but that won't help as they will take your money anyway. Strange place, the only winning move is not to go there. read more

First timer here. Not thrilled about their reservation system. Made a res for 4pm, got here at 3:30 and checked in. It's currently 4:45 and we are still waiting. There is an extra fee you pay for reservations online. Not sure what the point even is considering We. Are still. Waiting. If we were late showing up, I'd understand. If we hadn't paid an extra fee, I might be alright. But this? These burgers better be damn good. Edit: the burgers were good. We were given a coupon for our next visit because of our wait. Absolutely phenomenal. The Norwood area is returning to its former glory and this venue is the trailblazer. Best upscale bar food in the Birmingham metro area. Staff is a little young and needs just a little more polish. Wings were top notch and the injectable donuts were a delight. Cheese fries were slightly undercooked. You don't have to golf to eat here. Perfect spot for football season and major games. Can't wait to come back! read more

If it would be possible to give a zero rating I would.. the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. My wife and I arrived at 5:40. Told 45 minutes, and gave my number to front desk. At 6:40 got a text your almost ready and replied yes. At 7:30 went to desk and was told 15 more minuets. At 8:15 was told another 15 minutes. Am I at a doctors office or trying just to hit some golf balls? Is it possible just to be honest and let them know you'll never make it to hit balls? It's 11:40a on a Monday, the parking lot is empty and there are 40+ bays visibly open. Wanted to pop in for a quick lunch hour and said this upfront - the receptionist asks, "is a 30 minute wait okay?" We answered, "No", asked for alternative options - explaining what we were trying to accomplish - and were told they were full with events. We needed up leaving - why is it so hard to spend money here? Service seems to only be declining in quality. read more

They would not refund the deposit when our event was moved to a new date, then quadrupled the fees to move it to a new date. I sent an inquiry to corporate, no response. Last night was my first time and I had so much fun! There was about a 30 minute wait for a pod so we played pool while we waited. Our first server downstairs brought our drinks quickly. Once we got our pod, someone explained how everything worked and out server was super attentive to our needs and checked on us often, but not in an annoying way. I finally made it to Topgolf last night. We were concerned and considered canceling our plan to try it out due to the weather. We were told they had heaters and that we would be ok so we braved the crowd. This is likely the absolute busiest place in Birmingham. Parking was a nightmare! We opted to pay $5.00 for valet. I would recommend anyone planning on coming here do the same. They need to staff the valet station with more people. There was one kid that couldn't keep up with the number of people. Especially considering he was texting with his phone in his face the entire time he spoke with customers. I'm not certain what the Fire Marshall calls max capacity for this place but I'm relatively sure they flirted with that number by 6-7:00. It took 2 hrs to get our lane. We had a spokes person for our group arrive at 4. The wait had increased to 4 hrs by 530-6:00 I overheard a group say. There are TVs, pool tables and a few games available to make the time go by. I'm relatively certain there is a fee for the games. We watched football instead. The interior is large multi tiered driving range with a variety of games/ scoring systems. Each station has a sectional couch and coffee table or a high top bar table. You can be as specific as you want down to which floor you want to be on what type of seating you want etc... we went with first available. We ended up on the first floor with a bar top which suites the 6 of us fine. We opted for 2 hrs. It's fun. It's a fancy driving range with a series of games to play to make it more fun/ competitive. My son hasn't touched a non put put Club in his life and he enjoyed it. It's for all skill levels and the lanes themselves are very affordable. The snacks, food and beverages are on the high side. The fee of $5.00 for a "membership" is a dumb straight profit item for the company. The technology is impressive. The machine spits out a ball. The ball you hit is tracked by the computer keeping score. It lags at times and fails to record accurately some of the time but it was generally pretty accurate. I can see it being a point of contention for the super serious Uber competitive type. Everything you need is available in your station including a full set of men's and women's clubs if your right handed. I don't know if they offer left handed clubs. Each station has some set you up explain the rules and then you have a server who will bring you food and drinks right to your lane. Our server was friendly. Pitchers of domestic $15.00 each. They weren't even full.... One guy ordered a couple orders of cheese fries at $9.00 each. He said he'd never eaten anything while playing golf so he was gonna give it a shot. We had dinner reservations so we didn't explore the menu beyond that. A number of the employees are unfamiliar with how to treat the guests. I understand this place is insanely crowded but manners go a long way. Most of the staff on the lower level we encountered lacked basic manners. Our individual server apologized a number of times on behalf of his co-workers. The lines and considerable wait times extend to the bathrooms as well. On the bottom tier there is one 3 hole rest room, there was a family restroom at about the half way point of the level. All in all it's a fun time. You don't have to play to enjoy food, beverages and hanging out. There are still a few hiccups which time will fix. I would go back. I'm going to give it some time to see if the new wears off, or I will go at an off peak time. The idea of getting a reservation is fine but it will cost you $50.00 non-refundable which does not apply to your golf we were told. read more

Second time going to top golf the experience is amazing great food awesome service friendly staff; FATIMA is amazing she told us about the mega burger, keep her around she is great and also a sticker with getting you to try more and more items on the menu made me feel ok with spending my money! We had 3 bays and unfortunately it fell under 2 separate wait staff- both were incompetent and one had a major attitude issue to which the manager told us "she's just doing her job" and I had to keep chasing the other one down for things and he failed to put my kids orders in 3 times and "my bad" was his only response. We had to wait after our group left to walk out with their food to go....which was still wrong and because they didn't bring it to us in to go boxes, their lazy staff put their ramekin in the box. They weren't overly busy, we got right in- even with a large group. They could stand to train their waitstaff how to manage their areas better and maybe provide them with order pads so they aren't taking orders on the back of coasters and losing them and maybe learn to accept that they made a mistake and apologize verbally.( I wasn't looking for compensation, just recognizing that you forgot- we're human) but after 3 times you need to be apologetic. I wasn't the only one with issues out of our group but I'm just speaking for myself. We didn't expect great food and we got what we expected (not great food), we came for the golf fun- which was a blast. The floor manager did try to help the 2 waiters but overall I think it's not a place for people to work that get overwhelmed easily and don't like people....we weren't a rowdy or hard group.... read more

I came here with a large group to celebrate a friend's birthday and we all had an absolute blast! I have never been to a Topgolf before, so I didn't know what to expect. Topgolf is a tall building with several floors that provides a half indoor half outdoor golfing experience complete with food and drinks. It's great for large parties and allows up to six people to golf at the same time and up to eight people to sit at the same booth. Everyone has to have a top golf membership card, which costs $5 and is good for life and you can buy this at your table. When we walked in, we saw a check in line and a bar, so we first visited the bar to grab drinks and wait for the other members of our party. The bartender was very friendly and the prices were reasonable. I just bought a beer, but they had several cocktails and even a signature Topgolf drink available that car came with a take-home cup. When we got in line, we were told which floors were available and how long of a wait there was for each. We decided to golf on the bottom floor because it was available immediately, but next time I go, I really want to golf from a higher floor to see the view and get the full experience. The host walked us to our golfing area, which included a booth, several heaters, and a rack with several golf clubs. Our waitress came over to take food and drink orders and a Topgolf instructor (I'm not really sure of her title lol) came over and explain to us how the machines work and how to play the game. Once we had started, the food and drinks were brought out: I didn't order anything at the table, but I tried a few bites a friend's food, which was good. It was also nicely presented. They had several trendy dinner options that I would like to try. Just be mindful of that the food seems reasonably priced, but the dishes are small, so your bill can add up quickly. We stayed and played two full games before heading out. This place is the best. The heaters make it feasible in the fall and winter, the food and drinks are good, and it is just an all-around good time. I would definitely come back here. read more

I can describe this place in one word: AWESOME! First of all the fact that they have three golfing floors is really cool. You can choose from different size and shape clubs. The mobile golf system keeps up with your score wonderfully! If you are going to eat here definitely get the queso dip with salsa and tortilla chips. Their teardrop pizza is pretty good too. I also like how the golf ball dispenser has a sensor that you wave your club over to get your golf ball. I would definitely recommend this place. Please go soon! read more

I came to top golf for a corporate party attended by employees and their significant others. The company had a large group of about 50 and I think top golf did a great job entertaining and keeping up with everyone. The way it works is you grab a booth, I think 6 people can play at once and you can play multiple different types of games to decide who the champ is going to be. The layout is very fun and communal allowing for free flowing conversation and banter. The golf set up itself is what you could imagine the love child of a disco and driving range would be, which made for a very fun environment. Top golf has an extensive drink list your bound to find something you like, I wasn't paying so I'm not sure what the prices were like. The food was set up buffet style it included chicken, prime rib sides and desert all very nice and had good flavor. My wife was a big fan of the donut balls in offer for desert, she said they were life changing, I agreed. I'll definitely come back for another turn. Great atmosphere but BE PREPARED TO WAIT! Top Golf is still fairly new here in Birmingham (its only been open approx 3 months), so everyone is still trying to come out and see what the fuss is about. It is especially packed on Saturdays and sundays and any night (in my opinion), because the targets look better at night. If you have a free day, I suggest go, put your name on the list and enjoy the bar/restaurant area while you wait. Or go over to uptown across the street if you wait is longer than 3 hours or so. There is also a room of fun games down on the first floor that you can take advantage of! But once you get your bay and start playing, you will have so much fun. Whether you know how to play golf or not! The drinks are great and appetizers are perfect to order for your group while you are playing. Happy playing! read more
