Weather: We didn't pick THE coldest day to go to Top Golf, but it was close. While there is a lot to do inside (eat, drink, eat, drink, and eat), the whole point of going to Top Golf is to ummmm, hit some ballz so we braved the cold in our coats, scarves, gloves, hats and oh yes, they have outdoor heaters. Golf: I've played some miniature golf in my lifetime, but I had no idea what I was doing since the closest I've come to golfing is driving a golf cart at Pebble Beach (name dropper!) and have never been to a driving range. However, after a few, ahem, dozen pointers from well-meaning coworkers ("get closer," "focus on the ball" and of course, "be the ball"), I managed to knock at least two balls into the rather large, color-coded holes (and no comments from the peanut gallery--you know who you are...). As I'm sure everyone else has explained, your name is associated with the ball, you get points, yada, yada, yada. Chillin'with the work peeps: Having a lounge area a few feet from where you whack the balls complete with comfy chairs to "rest" between swings was a bonus, and since this was a company Christmas party, we had a full buffet of pretty delicious food and a neverending supply of vino and beer. I should have ended the vino earlier but the tiny smart part of my brain took a leave of absence and forgot to tell me "hey, you're at a WORK party--be cool" and that's all I got to say about that. Conclusion: Fun place--I would go again and maybe hang out inside for a while. The bar area seems pretty cool too. read more

Wow! This concept is one of a kind! When you walk in you get greeted by a host to help you get a players card if you do not have one. There are 3 levels with rows and rows of booths where you have you own private area. It's different then a driving range. You have different games you can play where you have to make it into different baskets. Also you have a waiter/waitress to order drinks and food. I tried the sunrise burger that comes with a fried egg on top with sweet potato frys. No complaints! read more

Apparently my shoe fixation makes it difficult for me to venture east when at the Domain, because I'd never seen nor heard of TopGolf until a happy hour was set up here. When I glanced at the location I assumed this was the Range AT the Domain, cause how many boozy golf places can you have within half a mile of each other. Well this is not the Range, it's way awesomer (shut up, that's a word). Parking here sucks but YAY free valet! You're pretty much assaulted when you walk in the door by very friendly faux caddys getting you to sign up for a membership, cause you need one to play. I was here for the booze, and stilletos don't golf so good, so I powered on to meet the homies in their box. What is weird here is that with SO many staff members in the lobby it was surprising how impossible it was to get someone to bring us food and drinks. But after we nearly tackled a waiter to get some brisket cheese fries (dudes, you can't put that on a menu and then NOT let me order it, helllllooo), the service was pretty spot on. All the golfers appeared to have a ball and I enjoyed watching them try and not clock the people below us in the head with a poorly hit shot. There was a 15 minute wait, to be expected, but after 30 minutes I inquired how much longer and the "concierge" acted as if he had never seen me. Once we got a bay we had to wait 20 minutes for a waiter to even acknowledge us. As much fun as this place can be they are perpetually under staffed or they train their staff to not take care of their guests. There is no "call button" or any other way to flag down a staff member other than to grab one as they jog by the bays. This particular location just doesn't seem up-to-snuff with their other, more established locations. read more

I just had my birthday celebration here and it was pretty freaking sweet. We went all out and rented two bays for 3 hours with food and a few buckets of beer. That shit wasn't cheap, but damn it was fun. The golf is a blast. There are several different game types to choose from where you can hit the various targets for points. I personally liked "Top Chip", because I was actually pretty good at it! If the game involved hitting the ball over 150 yards, I was basically screwed. The real highlight of the event for us was the personal assistant/server guy that helped us. His name was Jordan and he was awesome. He got anything we needed and answered all our questions with a big smile and he seemed actually happy to be there. It was fantastic. If you are planning a party here, I'd recommend requesting Jordan as your server. So in short... if you want to spend a bunch of money and have a good time for a party of any kind, Top Golf will do the trick. I may have to come back and edit this rating once I return on a day that there's not a 2 hour wait to play. My friends and I showed up on Saturday evening around 6:30. Parking was redonkulous and it was nearly standing room only....and this place is HUGE! The people playing looked like they were having fun, and although we were excited about driving balls at huge holes in the ground, we didn't have enough patience to wait for 2 hours to pay to do it. We made the most of the evening by getting a table in the bar area and knocking back some drinks and food. There was no craft beer on tap though; only in cans. Boo. Top Golf has an amazing product. Playing golf in an air conditioned facility while watching ESPN and drinking and eating with your friends is amazing. The food is above average, the drinks are good and reasonably priced. I have been over 10 times and they are very consistent. The reason I give 4 stars is the service, the service has been consistently bad I do not know if its because of the servers being overwhelmed with too many tables or just the inexperience, but it seems every time we go we are looking for our server or asking someone to find them or going to the bar to get a drink. If top golf could fix one thing it would be making their servers actually serve you instead of being order takers who take your order then you don't see again until they are ready to drop your check. I would recommend this place for the atmosphere but definitely not the service. read more

We took our 13 year old daughter here with a few of her friends for a birthday gathering. On Saturday mornings before noon it is $20\bay which is very affordable considering you can put up to 6 people in a bay. They put us on he very bottom which ended up working out great. It was a windy day and being on the bottom it was a lot less windy and cold. They also have heaters which keeps the bays nice and warm. They also had pool tables and shuffleboard down below which was awesome because we could play pool and shuffleboard while we watched our daughter play golf with her friends. This gave them their alone time to goof around without parents hovering over them and gave us something to do at the same time. We also ordered some cheese fries, a flat bread, and some donuts with Bavarian cream and chocolate filling. I didn't try any of it , but my daughter and her friends devoured it so it must have at least been decent. It was a great day and experience and we'll be back for sure. read more

I have found my new favorite place in Austin, and I don't think it will be replaced with another new favorite place anytime soon. Great food, great service, great venue, great fun. Top Golf has it all. I can't believe how fun this place is, not to mention the affordability. If you visit Top Golf during the week around lunchtime, it only costs $20/hour. Bring 3 of your friends and the 4 of you can play for $5/hour each. Bring your clubs or leave them at home. The $5 membership fee covers the cost of club rentals. I cannot say enough good things about Top Golf. This is the easiest 5 star review I've written. read more

Top golf is great! We had our fraternity alumni event here and paid for a few hours of golf. No I may not be the best golfer in Austin, but that doesn't matter at all. Me and a group of friends went out last night for my soon to be birthday coming up and I had the most mediocre service Ive ever received in my life! The waitress was not courteous at all. We waited 2 hours for food on a non busy Sunday. Then after we asked for the manager it seemed like he avoided our table at all cost! Not to mention how they rushed us off the Tee. (This was around 10:45pm and they close at 12a). It would also be good for team-building in the workplace! Food was good. Not amazing, but really decent. We shared chips, salsa & guac, as well as a smoked brisket grilled cheese, and enjoyed it all. I heard about this place from a friend who lives in Houston. She told me how much fun it was and it would make a great date night with the hubby. I always look online to see what a place is all about and read reviews. I like to be familiar before I go there so that I don't hold up the line. I took advantage of signing up for a TopGolf Member Card for $5 why not. We were off on MLK Day and it was a beautiful day in Austin so why not head to TopGolf. Wow, it's in a nice area near the Domain next door to IBM (very smart). Lots of parking and there's a ramp for those who prefer to walk the ramp or for anyone in a wheelchair. Got inside and I had a wow factor. Very spacious and inviting. We were greeted as soon as we got in and let the person know it's our first time. She directed us to the correct desk to get started. We were then directed to the Concierge desk to get our bay. We got there in time, no long wait we were immediately taken to the 2nd floor. The host showed us what to do when we got to the bay and how to work the box to get started and good tips on how to score points. I already had a sneak peek of their menu so I already knew I wanted sliders and tots. They serve Pepsi products so Sierra Mist on tap for me. Our server was quick and friendly. Our food was out within 10 minutes. The food was good and tasty. We played 3 games of 20 balls each for about an hour. It was a lot of fun and it's great for dates, groups, families and work events as well. We spend the same amount of money here as we do at the movies, bowling and the shooting range. We plan to do this on a regular for our QT outing. We saw a foosball table that made my eyes light up...I'm very competitive with the hubby. read more

How can you not like Top Golf? I'm a golfer and I love it. It brings a level playing field to all of your party with the different games you can play. The only downside is the potential wait that you might face (memberships helps to avoid this, though I'm not a member). If you're waiting, check out the other floors of this place. You can check out games, billiards, and other things. There's also a few bars to get food and refreshments during the wait. Once you get the bay, the wait staff is so good with attentiveness and service. As a beer fan, I really enjoy their tap list and selection. Just keep track of your time! It is easy to add a little time here, a little time here, and all of the sudden you're shutting the place down! Ha. The app-based scoring and rating system is great too. The tech of this place is innovative, and I can't get enough of this place. Topgolf may not be actual golf, but it does reach out to a very broad population and brings exposure to the game more. Great place. I've been here both as a work outing, and also with my wife. Pricey, but good for special occasions- would be great for a low key birthday, or to take out of towners. I'm not a golf person at all, but even I found it enjoyable, because you can still get points even if the ball barely leaves the ground and rolls into the nearest hole. Gameplay ranges from simple to quite complex and challenging. The clubs are provided, along with the 'missing guidebook' of which club to use for which kind of hit. Service is good, which is fitting considering what you are paying. I'd love to come here more often but if I do, it will definitely be off-peak! read more

The BF and I's first experience is one we will never forget! We came in right after lunch. We went through guest services to get our membership cards. We were waiting for almost 15 minutes since their system was down. Shalya was very apologetic about the wait. We also ran into one of my BF's friends who actually works there. He's training to become a server so ask for JP when you get the chance! Apparently the system was down the entire time we were there. (about 2.5 hours) So we weren't able to keep score or even keep up with our time of hitting balls. That's what we did the whole time... literally hit balls. We had a few drinks and even tried the chicken wings. The wings are huge and ask for them naked with the sauces on the side. The waiters really know the menu so don't be afraid to ask for suggestions. Since the system was down... we didn't have to pay for our time hitting balls. This place is a great addition for fun things to do in Austin. My very first experience was when they first opened some friends threw their sons bar mitzvah. It was AMAZING. Servers were friendly, food and drinks were great and everyone had a blast. We have since been back maybe 4 times and each time has been a blast! The concept is really neat. It's not a typical driving range where you just whack the balls. This will track how far it goes and if it makes it in a hole (there are many) We love the golf bag drinks and the mushi. Whoever the brainchild is for this place is a GENIUS. It i had millions of dollars to invest in something, I would love to buy one of these. This place is a MONEY MAKER! This is one of the funnest places I've been to in a while. I could spend hours here and the soreness for the next few days is fully worth it. Whether you want to go on a fun date or hang out with a group of friends, this place is awesome! You don't have to be a great golfer to have fun here. You can be a total beginner and still have a GREAT time! I cannot believe how busy this place is even with over 100 bays. I've never gone on a weekday but be prepared to wait if you go on the weekend. I've gone on a Saturday on Sunday afternoon when it was HOT and it was still pretty packed where we had to wait at least 30 minutes for a bay. There's a big bar downstairs just past the concierge so you can have some drinks and hang out while you wait for your bay. The bays have either high tables with barstool-like chairs or comfy outdoor chairs with a large table in front. The servers are easily accessible and check up on your often which is great. The food was surprisingly pretty good. The way the whole hitting system works is really cool from how you wave your club head in front of the sensor for the ball to come out to how it's able to track your ball to give you your points. Even if the weather's hot, they have fans and misters so it doesn't seem as bad. You have some much fun, you forget about the heat. My only complaint is that they allow dogs. Now, before you start hating on me, don't get me wrong. I love dogs BUT it's a bit irritating when all you hear is a small dog constantly barking the whole 2 hours you are there. I know this is not a golf course and there is noise at Top Golf because people are there just to hang out and have fun but I can still see how some people may be a bit annoyed with a dog barking non-stop while you're trying to swing. Even if you're not swinging, a constantly barking dog can by a bit irritating, especially if it's not your own. 2 times I went to Top Golf, there was a small dog either right next to us or 2 bays down and they were both barking the ENTIRE time. Regardless, I still love this place like crazy and I'm sure many people love it BECAUSE they are so dog-friendly. I only wish it wasn't so expensive ($40/hr during peak time which is most of the time). I could happily spend my weekends here all the time. read more

The big issue I had was with the food runner. She definitely looked sick and should not be serving food. I really love this place. It's like a giant video game. The food is decent enough, and they have a good selection of beer. Prices aren't too bad as long as you have some friends to split it up with. This place is even fun for the non-golfer. If you suck at golf, don't worry about it. The majority of the people i've seen playing are by no means pros. Folks are just there to have a good time. Nice full bar, some pool tables and shuffleboard. Loads more to do then just play golf. My only complaint is the parking is lacking. But at least they have valet. read more

USA was playing Costa Rica at that moment. This place is basically is giant sports bar. So why the F don't they have Fox soccer channel. I think a lot of people would have been interested in seeing that game. So I was pretty mad about that. It took about and hour and 15 minutes to get a lane. I put my name down at 7 pm. I'm OK with that. The place is popular, good for them. Just keep that in mind. Once you get your lane it's all good. The food was good. The service was good. The golf games are fun. Top Golf is a terrible place to take small children. Don't even think about bringing a kid here unless your child is about 8 years old or older. "Why would you take your toddler to a bar/golfing entertainment complex?" you ask. This is admittedly a good question-- let me say that this was not my idea. Sometimes toddler parents just want to leave their suburban hovels for an evening and do something different. I thought it would be ok because the plans were for early in the evening. Around "baby dinner hour" if you will, the time of day where you usually see the mac-n-cheese contingent out in full force at restaurants around Austin. Toddler C and I would just eat dinner and take off after dinner. We called ahead and the staff said that they were not busy and there was no wait. Something must have happened in the following 15 minutes, because when we arrived, it was pretty packed and the husband had to wait in line for quite a long time for a membership card. We got taken to a table on the lower level. A highchair was brought out - a highchair that is normal-table-height, while all of the tables in the driving range area are bar stool-height. There is no way to feed a child in a highchair out in the driving range area unless you BYO one of those fancy highchairs that connect to the table. So Toddler C and I got banished to the lounge area indoors where there were about 3 normal height tables where you can stick a high chair. The lounge area on the first floor is pretty cool, by the way, for older kids (like elementary aged & up). There were Kinect video games they could play. I fed Toddler C his hot dog and tried to ignore the INCREDIBLY LOUD MUSIC that unfortunately got turned up even louder after we had been sitting there for about 5 minutes. Husband and friends were out in the driving range having a great time and I was stuck in the sad, loud pop music zone- which by the way, was some kind of Dead Zone for waiter service because nobody really looked at me or refilled my tea after I explained that we had already been helped by the waitress outside. Two stars because: C liked his hot dog a lot, the waitress put his order in as a rush and it did come out very quickly, and well, Top Golf is a cool place for people who don't attempt to bring small children. read more

A bit annoying especially since our server changes half-way through the night. I think that the system could be improved a little. I had the chicken sandwich and it was ok. The buns were a bit dry and the chicken was rather plain. Tried a few bites of other random things friends ordered and I was not impressed. We then ordered what looked to be a real treat, it looked like a big orange sushi roll, but when we tasted it it had very little flavor, it was sticky sushi style rice, wrapped with a tortilla and in the center, a very bland chicken and some kind of sauce, everyone at our table tried it with anticipation, not one person liked it, too bland. I love going to top golf. I golf 18 holes 3-4 times a week, and top golf is a nice break from the course and a great way to work on aim and distance. I would've enjoyed this place a lot more if I like playing golf. But even for a golf newbie like myself, this is a fun place to kick it with friends. Topgolf looks sophisticated and fun, with a main bar on the floor if you want to grab a drink first. I've been told the wait time used to be ridiculous, but it has now slowed down a bit. It was still tough to find a spot in the parking lot. Given that topgolf is about 4 stories high, it makes sense that it can generate that much traffic. I would recommend getting a table/spot on the second floor or up. Overall, a very pretty and fun place to be. Very spacious! I love the concept of making a more upscale driving range focused on relaxation and company. Which it is, there is no hurry and you don't have to stand around. We just went this morning (New Year's Eve). It was a good crowd, not too crowded. I actually enjoyed it more then I thought! Like others had mentioned I've never swung a golf club before so it took me a few rounds before I got a swing of things. But finally hey look at me I was hitting targets!! Might have been the closest one but hitting targets none the less. The technology behind this place is amazing. How they keep track of your golf ball each time when there's hundreds of golf balls out there is beyond me. Must be the future, like my brother in law said. We didn't get any food, but would love to try some next time as the menu looked pretty good for bar food!! Like that you get your own private bay so you can still have convos with your friends but still people watch the competition around you. Over all, we were looking for something new and different to do for NYE afternoon since we all had it off of work. This fit the bill. Watch out y'all....things are getting pretty serious up at Top Golf....I don't wanna brag but I totally got a hole-in-one! It even notified all the bays around our bay so everyone could congratulate my masterful triumph! Who cares that the game celebrated my victory with a -1 (yes, NEGATIVE)...I'm still way more awesome than a lot of people! So anyway...this place is a TON of fun! I'm not much of a golfer and I definitely get super nervous having people watch me do something I know I'm terrible at...but hey, I don't come here because I like golf. I come because my husband LOVES it and is awesome at it. I come because my best friends boyfriend loves golf (and who doesn't like to watch their man beat someone elses man at something? =P). The food is super delicious here. Try the mushi!!!! It's a super creative, fabulously delicious "sushi" roll did up "Mexican" style. So damn good. And their drinks are awesome, too. This past visit we ordered a few rounds of a signature cocktail that tasted exactly like a dreamsicle....the hubby got a bloody mary (bloody mary bar open on Saturday!). The service was pretty fast this time around, too. She was more than happy to bring us another round or anything we needed. But boy was it HOT! I know, we're outside...it's gonna be hot in August. They had these ginormous fans just a blowin' on all the bays. I personally wish they hadn't blown as much but who knows! Maybe that's what kept us from melting. I'd recommend not getting all dressed up to play/people watch in the Texas summer here.... Come early! The bays fill up quickly and the waits can be pretty bad sometimes. We always come around 10a to get the half price bays and get in fast. I don't care to play, but I love the look on my hubby's face as he swings those silly clubs...worth it. Oh! PS! To play in the bay, you have to load money onto your card. The money on the card cannot be used for drinks or food or anything else so maybe don't throw a bunch of cash onto the card and then be surprised when you have to pay again for food and what not...guess we're going back to Top Golf soon to spend all the pre-loaded money..... :P read more

I have only one complaint about Top Golf. It is too fantastic. The drinks are great, the food is delicious, the games are fun and engaging, and the scene is exciting. It is fun for families, workgroups, friends gathering for happy hour, or an individual who wants to work on his or her swing. The music is upbeat and I leave Top Golf feeling great every time. This does not work for me. I am getting older and I do not like when the public discovers a fantastic new place and begins to make it crowded. I want to keep Top Golf all to myself. I went to TopGolf last night for the first time and I loved it! I was with a group of about 12 people to celebrate my roommate's birthday. The first people in our party arrived at 5:00, and it was around 6:45 by the time we were taken to our bays (1 hour 45 min wait for 2 side-by-side bays on a Saturday night). I'm glad they went early, because I'm sure it would've been impossible had we waited until 7 to get there. Our party was seated at a large table in the bar area with a comfortable couch and a TV while we waited. Unfortunately, the couch was only big enough to accommodate about half of our party, so we had to keep asking for additional chairs and squishing together as more people arrived. I arrived around 6:15 (the couch was full and food/drinks had already been ordered). I asked the waiter for a menu and he pointed to the screen in the middle of the table. Obviously, it was impossible for me to look at screen on the table top (I guess that's where the menu is/where you order from?) when the table was already covered in my friends' food and drinks. Luckily, I was able to pull out my iPhone and look up the menu online. Unfortunately, there aren't many vegetarian options on the menu, but I decided to go with the cheese quesadillas. Right after my boyfriend and I ordered our food, the party host got a text indicating that our bays were ready. My boyfriend let our waiter know that we would be moving to the bays. The waiter told him that he would bring our food and checks to our bays, cool. Followed the party host to the lobby, and we were then taken outside to our bays. I was immediately in awe of how amazing this place was! It's hard to describe the setup without actually seeing it--it's massive--3 different levels, with a ton of different lanes/bays on each level. None of them appeared to be a "bad" angle or anything. There are several large targets at various distances that you try to hit the ball in. It was odd at first to see balls flying from above and below and all different directions at the same time (we were on the 2nd level). So we get to our bay, and immediately I notice that there are only 4 places to sit in each bay and 12 of us, so 4 people ended up standing the whole time. It would be better if there were additional seating, since up to 6 can play in each bay. As we were trying to figure out how to work the screen to start the game, we found out we needed member cards to play. So my boyfriend and I went back inside and waited in line for about 15 min at the front desk to get our cards. It would be helpful if the person who took us to our bay would've explained that we needed cards in the first place, and also how to work the screen at the bay. But no big deal, we figured it out. After we got back to our bay, a new waitress arrived and asked for our credit cards to start tabs. Ok? She took a little longer than I was comfortable with to return my credit card, but it was pretty busy. I ordered another margarita. Meanwhile, the first waiter came by with our previous check from the bar (but we haven't even gotten our food yet?!). Since the second waitress had my credit card, my boyfriend gave him cash. We finally start playing golf and having a blast with our friends. I was terrible at it, but you really don't need any sort of talent or skill to have fun at Top Golf. I managed to score a few points here and there. About 30-45 minutes later, our food FINALLY arrived. My quesadillas were ok, but I came here for the fun, not the food, right? At that time, my boyfriend noticed that the first waiter never brought back his change from our original check at the bar. He paid $60 and our bill was around $42 I think, so he should've brought us back $18 in change--clearly he didn't think we were giving him an $18 tip on a $42 bill. Shady! So my boyfriend talked to our waitress, she was very sweet and promptly retrieved his change. My only other minor complaint about the service was that our waitress took our orders but she didn't deliver the food/drinks--so the food/drink runners had no idea which person they were supposed to go to. Every time a drink came out, the food/drink runner girl would usually come up to me (Why me? Lol) and ask, "Who ordered a margarita?" So I would have to stop what I'm doing and ask every single person in my group, "Hey, who ordered a margarita? Did you? Did you?" Until it finally got to the right person. It was kind of annoying. It would make more sense if it was the same person taking orders and delivering food/drinks. All in all, we had an AMAZING time and we will definitely be coming again.
