The bottom line first: George and David and their team of five were outstanding and I highly recommend them to meet your tree removal needs. Now the details. The scope of my project was to remove three very large, massive and tall fichus trees from my backyard including: tree, trunk and root removal covering approximately 300 sq ft; transplanting 20 mature plants; rebuilding the sprinkler system; removing and rebuilding approximately 30 ft of concrete mow strip; trimming the overhanging branches of three of my neighbors 50 ft tall trees; and, removing and cleaning up all debris. Based on relevant Yelp reviews, I invited five tree removal companies to bid this job. Dave Poe provided the initial bid. I was very impressed and later offered him the job. Both Dave and his brother George then came back to finalize the scope of services and to clearly explain the way the work would proceed. They estimated two days using a large crew and equipment appropriate for this scale of work. Dave ,George and their crew of five showed up on time, removed a portion of my wooden fence to gain access, and moved a lot of patio furniture to a safe location. They were very efficient and it was clear this crew worked very well together. They worked very safely and took great pains to protect my house by putting large sheets of plywood up against the windows and on top of the grass where they would be hauling out the debris. They completed the work in two days, but we agreed they should return the next morning to remove the mow strip bender boards and to retest and adjust the new sprinklers. During the testing we discovered a broken pipe into one of the main valves (unrelated to their work) which they proceeded to fix without question. In every respect they were professional, efficient, pleasant and did everything they said they would do and more. I enthusiastically recommend them to anyone considering any similar work. read more

We recently hired George and his team for a complete front yard renovation, and I honestly couldn't be happier with the results. They removed all the weeds, installed over 1,000 sqft of new sod, and put in an entirely new irrigation system -- and somehow completed everything in just 3 days! From the very beginning, George was incredibly responsive through Yelp messages and was able to come out the very next morning for a free quote after I contacted him. Compared to other companies we received quotes from, his pricing was very reasonable, especially considering the quality and speed of the work. What really stood out to me was the attention to detail. George made sure every part of the project was done properly and checked everything carefully throughout the process. The sod lines came out super clean and professional, and they even left our driveway spotless when the job was finished. On top of that, George and his entire team were so friendly, knowledgeable, hardworking, and easy to communicate with. You can tell they genuinely care about doing quality work and making sure the customer is happy. Honestly, if I could give them 10 stars out of 5, I would! Highly recommend George and his team for anyone looking for tree trimming, sod installation, or irrigation work. We would absolutely hire them again! read more

We had an excellent experience with Top Unit Tree Service, especially with George and David Poe and their crew. George was professional, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with from the beginning and was very reasonable! We had four very large trees that needed substantial trimming, and George took the time to explain what needed to be done and how he would shape the trees. The crew worked efficiently and safely, and they did an amazing job cleaning everything up when they were finished. Our trees look so much better, and our yard was left neat and clean. We really appreciated the quality of the work, the professionalism, and the care they showed for our property. I would definitely recommend George and David Poe with Top Unit Tree Service to anyone looking for reliable, professional tree trimming. We are very happy with the results and would absolutely use them again! read more

Top Unit just finished trimming my Humongous over grown tree in the front of my home. I found Top Unit because they did work for both of my next door neighbors. They did an excellent job and will be calling them back for more projects, for sure. Great Price showed up with a bucket lift and chipper. The crew was professional, neat and all masked up to comply with COVID19 orders. I especially like I was asked of exactly how far back I would like to trim it back. I wanted it pruned back pretty hard so that I can trim it every 2 - 3 years and they did just as I asked. They were meticulous with the clean up leaving it better than they found it. Can't ask for anything better than this. I give them an A+++ for a job well done. The whole neighborhood is happy with the work performed by Top Unit Tree Service. read more

Called for an estimate to trim back our semi-dwarf orange tree, and George was at the house in about an hour to check things out. After I explained that the last quote we received was out of budget, he gave me a fair price and scheduled me for the following morning. Next morning, David came by and finished the job in about an hour and a half. He also hauled away the branches at no extra charge. A family owned business, both David and George were efficient in their work while being professional and easy going, and gave me some pointers for maintaining the tree and rest of the yard. If you want to support a small business that does good, fair work, these gentlemen are the way to go! read more

My husband and I were quite impressed with George and his crew! George came to give us an estimate on Monday within a short time of us calling them and we scheduled the work for today. They started this morning, removing 8 VERY tall Italian Cypress trees, probably 30' feet tall. Very conscientious workers, thorough, safety first, and safe guarding our property while they did a fantastic job completely removing the trees, including stump grinding. They finished the job in record time and left everything clean and neat! Fair price for a fantastic job...well done! We would highly recommend them for anyone's tree service needs. Kind regards....the Boss Lady! read more

George Poe took advantage of my 92 yr old Uncle Garth in Lakewood , CA for $75,000. Dollars for $15,000. Dollars of work. He is a smooth talker and befriended my uncle and then over charged again and again. Garth was hospitalized in late Sept 2018, I assisted with bills, and noticed checks written to George Poe for thousands of dollars. The Sherriffs office spoke to him and requested invoices. I'm still waiting for the invoices. George Poe, you owe my Uncle Garth thousands of dollars and shame on you for takng advantage of a 92 yr old Navy Vet. read more

No Wonder they do Cheap work. They are not a License Contractor, It has been suspended. After being told they had a license I checked with the Contractor Board at cslb.ca.gov and they are not.. That is why the price was so good, no License and no Workers Comp on the guys.. I would rather pay more and be save and not be sued or pay for an employer to loose my home.. So we with not be hiring this company. Good luck to you that do hire them. Hope it is worth the risk... read more

We had a big Brazilian pepper tree in the yard. It was very invasive, roots spread far and sent up shoots everywhere, created a lot of problem and damaged surrounding structures and plants. We hired Top Unit Tree Service to remove this tree. George and David came with big trucks and machine, they did a good job with stump-grinding the "mother" root and roots along the fence.
