I've never had this issue. I've always enjoyed my time at this restaurant, but I feel as though this newer waitress is taking advantage of the "automatic gratuity" system for several reasons. 1. I've never had a waiter/waitress automatically place gratuity here bc regardless I tip accordingly 2. Not being transparent about the gratuity is seemingly an attempt to scam the customer. You must state there is an automatic gratuity charge from the beginning and the end so that the customer knows. When 2 is not met, it makes it seem like you are trying to gain additional tip which is scandalous. It is really s*** for the bill to almost double bc of your greedy tip when service was only "okay" Otherwise the I really love the other waiters/waitresses here. Great food. I met my daughters for lunch at the Tomball location. First time to visit for me although my daughter has been several times. Every time I go the server takes forever to greet the table, and tables from when I walk in are still there with dishes all over, dirty, when I leave. The servers just sit at the same table and talk the whole time. Like get up and do your job, clean the tables off and help your team out, as well paying attention to the floor. The baked mussels were one of my favorites, I like how the mussels are chopped up rather than 1 big piece. This was my first visit to Top Sushi. Overall, the food was okay but service was lacking. I had the Bare Beauty, vegetable tempura, soup, salad, and unagi sushi. The soups was great but the bowl was only half full... delicious never the less. The salad was good as well but the dressing was a little different and took on more of a vinegarette flavor. The Bare Beauty was a little fishy tasting but had potential. The unagi was pretty good. The vegetable tempera was a very large onion ring that was barely cooked, two pieces of sweet potato, and two pieces of zucchini. I was a little underwhelmed by them. As for the less than ideal service, I think it was largely because I was by myself as compared to larger parties. After arriving, my waitress took probably 3-4 minutes to approach the table. I placed my order and asked for a water all at the same time. I received my soup and salad before getting the water and politely asked again. I requested some salt and pepper for the salad and received my food before getting the salt and pepper, which I also had to ask for again. I ran out of water early in the meal and could not find anyone to provide a refill. After I finished all of my food, I sat waiting for over ten minutes before anyone came by (the waitress never came by again). A manager finally came by to ask how things were and I handed him my card so that I could pay. read more

I've eaten here twice and have been very satisfied. The staff is excellent. Manager comes and checks on you, attentive servers. The Happy Hour menu is great. It's until 7pm and includes a lot of their regular menu items! They also have a Reverse Happy Hour after 9pm. The fish has been fresh every time. We even kept ordering extra salmon and yellowfin because it was so good. They follow Covid recommendations as well. It's a great sushi place for Tomball, we'll definitely be back! I was excited to try this restaurant based on the good reviews. When I arrived we were seated immediately, but even with just two other tables we could not get service. Even after the manager came by and checked with us and we mentioned we have been waiting to be served he said he would get right on it nobody helped us. It's not like we were rude or impatient, the waitstaff would just look at us and walk back into the kitchen.
