* DETAILED foodie review here *
Just opened 01.01.22 by the same owner as Fiery Shanghai across Pacific Pearl [Asian] plaza. 15 days later & still no yelpers so this is another page I helped start. U're welcome! lol
A-la-carte dine-in hot pot. No AYCE, ahhh! Very limited togo w/ only 6 stewed items, to be exact, which I tried a couple.
T H E "F E E L S" . . .
- On the quiet end by the mall entrance/exit in the former short-lived Yummy Chengdu hot pot space
- Good-sized storefront, but a bit weird layout w/ many doors along the jagged building. Not their fault, just a poor building design imo
- Hard to make out when u pass by going to or coming from the main parts of the plaza. I think the windows are tinted too cuz our Livermore heat is kray in the summer.
- All in all, that spot alwaz felt like bad feng shui to me, sry to say
- Dim interior lighting. Romantic?
- Small sauce station they were covering up at closing so I didn't get to see, but assumed the usual stuff

waitresses masked & I almost missed the pump bottle of sani at their counter

Again, too bad not AYCE & only 6 "Bittern" items togo. What does than even mean?? They're not bitter. Actually, soy-stewed "exotic" dishes. Besides sliced beef, there are beef tendons, chix feet, quail eggs & what I ordered below (see my pic):
- Beef Stomach, 9.95 | honeycomb tripe, thinned sliced
- Pork Intestines, 9.95 | a lil chewy, but the length-wise cuts w/ some of the fat removed were nice
More like snack items, but tasty over rice or noodles as a meal. The mid-sized tubs actually yielded a lot of organs. As a former restauranteur myself, I'd use flat boxes for more seemingly generous portions. Just a small presentation rec for eye candy.
They should add a few stir-fried dishes like at least noodles. A group walked in behind me for togo since this was the only place still opened passed 9p, but the non-Asians were scared of the few funky offerings, lol.
IF we were to dine in for hot pot, the following are the categories & standouts. (Doubtful tho cuz a-la-carte & dining in during covid aren't for us. Hence, they should adapt to the new norm w/ more togo.)
- Protein | I've never seen Duck Stomach or Pork Brain before. Blood Cubes are usually pork instead of duck, like here, if u're into that.
- Meatballs | Crab Egg Fish & Homemade Coriander Beef Balls
- Seafood | I had to look up what Haliotis meant. Why didn't they just use the commonly adored Abalone name??
- Veggies | Konjac Thread as in yam noodles??
- Main Course | aka their 3 starches
- Dim Sum | uhhh, not really, lol
T H E "D R A N K S" . . .
- fresh soy milk, sodas, Asian drinks | 2-3.95
- looks like tea isn't incl | $5!
- wine, sake & beer | 5.95-9.95

The 2 waitresses were nice. Teresa spoke Canto, which helped better communicate what the togo items actually were.

They have a few unique items, but no AYCE or much togo or outdoor dining option during covid. They said that they get good daytime business after ppl shop at the outlets. Idk as I went before closing on their 9th day when it was completely empty and they were going home a lil early.
Ppl prefer AYCE, but a lot of owners think a-la-carte is more profitable. My friends who own/ed AYCE hot pots have said that it ends up being about the same cost, but with more customers and happy, returning ones at that.
- Return? Maybe
- Wifi: Don't think so, but didn't really check
- Restroom sitch (helps gauge resto's cleanliness): didn't check
- Out the door for 2 snack items: 22.
- Apple Pay: yes, yay
p.s. As alwaz, show this [Asian] sista some love if u found what I spent time on to be of help ;-P Thx in advance & may there be more noms in our futures!!... read more
