Headed over for dinner with our table of 4 at around 8:45 and we expected a wait but they called us about 5 minutes after saying that our table was ready. When you're first seated, you choose your soup on the menu and label it under the shared pot table or individual pot table. Two of us opted for the BBQ pot, half grill half soup and the others the small pot which is only the soup. I ordered the miso soup which I always enjoy a lighter, less spicy flavor in hot pot and my parents really enjoyed the Malaysian bak kut teh and salty pork bone soup they ordered as well. On the other side of the menu, you are able to choose up to 15 items each round from meats, seafoods, vegetables and hot foods. They had a good variety of everything we usually like getting at hot pot such as beef tripe or fish tofu to different items like biang biang noodles, which were fun to try. The meats were the star of the show, really nice marbling and high quality taste. Our favorites were the pork belly and beef belly which were thin, soft and fatty. The prime beef rib eye and new zealand lamb were also good options, a little more tough but well enjoyed. The last meat we tried was the Kurobuta Pork which was too rough. We ordered some appetizers and dim sum too. Munching on the lamb dumplings, beef short ribs and shanghai pork soup dumplings while we waited for the items to cook. At the end of the meal, we got a choice of matcha or cookies and cream ice cream for dessert. Overall, we felt that 38.99 per person for this meal was so worth it from the high quality, fresh foods to very friendly servers coming by to place items down and make light small talk. Knowing the dining area at Top Pot is small and they tend to get really busy, we decided to get there right when their dinner service opened at 4:30 p.m. Our party of 5 was seated indoors immediately and was able to order shortly after. We opted for the individual pots and a couple of us got the hot pot/bbq combo pot (yes, you can do that at no extra up charge). Our pots came out quickly and our meats, veggies and noodles came out shortly after. We also ordered some ready prepared hot appetizers like Chinese donut and short ribs. Top Pot also has a make-your-own sauce bar. After our food all arrived, a server promptly brought back a clean menu for us to select more dishes when ready. Throughout our meal, our water glasses were regularly refilled, our broth was topped up with added broth, empty dishes were cleared quickly. The servers even offered us ice-cream for dessert. I loved the idea of this spot, individual pots, a good variety of soup bases, the option to do personal half hotpot half barbecue. Got a corner sauce bar with options like fermented tofu too. Topping variety is decent, got biang biang noodles, shrimp paste, a whole column of veggies. And if you care for dimsum or appetizers, they have those options too. I went with the cilantro and preserved egg base. got a few pieces of it in the soup. The flavors aren't too strong, they do have extra cilantro at the sauce bar if I really wanted to amp it up. I went with mainly their beef tongue, pork belly, ribeye, only to find that they do have lamb (my favorite) but was a bit too full for it. Veggies were quite fresh, I would say about half a bunch is given in each order. The portions per order are quite small, which helps prevent over ordering, sort of... my stomach felt full after I sent in the last order. I really want to love this place but doubt I want to come back. The original soup was just right, but when your soup is running low and you get soup refills, their broth is quite salty. I don't recall the last time I needed to drink this much water during hot pot. I had to stop dipping my food in the sauce too just to limit the sodium intake. It was still too late though, I had a fat headache for the rest of the day. If your stomach is as sensitive as mine with salt and MSG, beware. Sometimes I overlook the fact that not every experience is going to be awesome and rate a restaurant based on factors strictly within their control. I'll start this review with the disclaimer that, overall, I'd consider this spot to be closer to four stars and I'm only rating lower because of factors that were not necessarily within the business's control. My boyfriend and I stopped by for a Friday night dinner, somewhat intended to be a special treat. I'm a big Haidilao fan so I try to go to one of those locations whenever possible, but with no Haidilao in the area we decided to give this spot a chance. I avoid AYCE since it makes more sense in terms of value to order a la carte for me, but I felt that the AYCE adult price here was especially on the steep side. Regardless, we're already here and committed to trying this spot so we choose the four flavor pot with the spicy miso soup, Thai tom yum soup, salty pork bone soup, and house made tomato soup. We got a lot of orders of the #3 beef belly followed by the #2 prime beef ribeye, and some of my other favorites from the rest of the menu included #32 fish ball with fish roe, #63 biang biang noodles, #77 fried buns with condensed milk, and #79 creamy custard steamed bun. The sauce bar had a great variety of options and everything looked fresh and well-maintained in terms of cleanliness. The unfortunate factor of the night was that right as our first round of food arrived, a family with multiple kids was seated at the table right next to us. The kids were already being loud and we really wanted a quiet, intimate Friday night dinner, so my boyfriend quickly asked the waitress if we could move tables. The answer was flat out no, with no explanation or other attempt to offer a remedy. The remainder of dinner was stiff to say the least. At one point the kids started making loud vomiting sounds which certainly perturbed us both. One of the kids began playing with the social distancing plastic barrier, causing it to tilt dangerously in our direction before one of the adults noticed and pulled it back. We got both the mushroom and the supreme spicy broths. The mushroom broth was made with real mushrooms, but I personally liked the spicy broth more as it was not too spicy. This is the only hot pot place that I've been to that actually refills your soup with the actual soup that you ordered and not watered down with "house soup". This alone deserves the five stars. Not to mention the friendly, attentive & efficient staff. We are here on a busy Friday night and yet the staff are on point. They refill your water and your soup without having to ask them. There's no long wait for the food to come out. What seems to be "limited" menu is actually a simple menu made up of great quality, fresh and delicious food items. Our group opted for a pure hotpot experience, and we could choose up to 4 soups in a pot -- which provided some pretty good variety! Favorite meet was the ribeye, which was the most tender. Also tried the beef belly, pork belly, and fish, which were also decent. This place had an great assortment of veggies and appetizers. All ingredients pretty fresh and tasty. Interesting thing about the serving size was that some of the ingredients are sized to your party. So if its a table for two, you got (some multiple of) two pieces of it. For fish ball it was 2, for shrimp paste it was 4. Which was kind of cool since it really meant you could order a bunch of different things to try, without worrying that you would also end up with a whole bowl of each thing that you didn't like. Also on the menu, for the appetizers you order per piece/serving too.. So you can order 2 soup dumplings, or 1 fried sesame ball.. really saved me from over ordering and then stuffing myself senseless. Sauce bar covers all you bases. Service is pretty friendly and fast. Finally got to try Top Pot after it being recommended to us by many friends and family. We had reservations for 10, it was $38.99 for AYCE. There is also a 90 minute limit! But, I think that limit is highly enforced when there is a long waitlist. We went on a rainy day and the waitlist wasn't too long, we were also a big party so when we went over the limit the staff was gracious with us. They have so many soup options to try and you can even get half soup bowl half grill. I opted to just get the bowl with tom yum goong, love that they have this flavor for hot pot, it was so good! The cuts of meat were so good, my favorite was the beef belly and the lamb. Service was quick and a waiter/waitress was always within arms reach when we needed anything. As far as the restaurant goes, it is on the smaller side, so there will be a wait, but it's def worth it! On to the food! This is one of the restaurants where you can either just do hot pot, or you can opt for a hot pot with a built in grill portion. The times I've been here, I've only opted for the hot pot. As far as broth goes, I always get the spicy #1. I have a high spice tolerance, so I'm happy to say that their hot really IS hot, lol! The food here is amazing quality and the service is top notch! The meats and the vegetables are super fresh and very well prepared. I particularly enjoyed the prime beef ribeye (superb quality), beef tripe (very clean and nicely sliced), biang biang noodles (these grow to be astoundingly wide, to my astonishment), house made shrimp paste balls, lettuce, fried bun with condensed milk, and short ribs. I'm sure I missed some other items that I really liked, as there were many tasty, fresh items on the menu. My soup base was the salty pork bone broth and I really liked it. The service is also amazing here. The staff always makes sure we have our waters filled and will often come by adding more soup to our pots. They always responded to our requests very quickly (for example, extra chopsticks, napkins). They stopped by our table several times to chat with us and make sure everything was ok, and we found out that the place is family-owned and run! Probably found my new favorite hot pot spot. One of my favorite hotpot spots tucked away in a small plaza in Pacifica. There's a another hotpot place within the same plaza but once I tried this one I kept coming back. The meat and veggies are super fresh and there's an abundance of options to choose from. Broth varieties were also nice and surprisingly they came out extremely flavorful. They also have cooked dishes like dim sum, kalbi, and other little fried snacks. Sauce bar had a variety of things to choose from which was great and it was kept pretty clean and nice. Wall even has a sign saying to please use the hand sanitizer dispenser on the wall before using the sauce bar which was a plus! For the cooking options you can either request for a single pot or a half pot half grill thing to cook your food. Waiting for a table may take a bit of time since the place is a bit small but once you're seated, service is super quick from turnaround times on marking what items you wanted on the sheet to them bringing the dishes out and also taking empty plates away. Very responsive on whether our table was okay. Parking here is also super easy since it's in a plaza. Finally tried this spot, which was off the side from Grand Hotpot. Overall, it was alright, though the main thing was the assortment of items on the menu was limited. If you're mainly a meat eater at hotpot, this will be fairly good for you. If you prefer to order more seafood and other items (like me), there's not much. The spicy soup base has 3 spice level options, and the level 3 has a nice kick to it (but still not super spicy). The kick really comes out when you cook veggies and noodles in it. The shrimp paste is something I normally really like in hotpot, but the one here isn't to my liking. It was pretty bad, I couldn't eat the second piece. Also, one thing to note about the order quantity - it didn't matter too much how many servings we wrote for the items when we ordered. We ordered Prime Beef Ribeye, Beef Belly, Pork Belly, Kurobuta pork, beef tendon, beef honeycomb tripe, beef tripe, fresh soft tofu, rock cod fish fillet, prawns, lobster balls, napa cabbage, spinach, A choy, baby bok choy, watercress, broccoli, pumpkin, fresh black fungus, shiitake mushroom, beech mushroom, biang biang noodles, beef short ribs, crab rangoon, shanghai pork soup dumplings (XLB), creamy custard steamed buns. Like many other hot pot places, there's a station for the sauces, so you can make your own dipping sauce for the meat to give it extra flavor. The meat was tender and soft after lightly boiling it. I like to keep my meat still a bit pink after cooking it to keep it from getting tough. But I had a few that sat boiling and they were still tender and good to eat. I like that the beef tendon was cut up and didn't require too much time to become soft. I love custard buns, but the custard filling was grainy, so I wouldn't order that again. The crab rangoon was ok, though nothing special in my book, but if you're only eating boiled meat, it's a good break to have something deep fried in the mix. Beef short ribs were good, though a bit fatty, but I would order them again. Biang Biang noodles have a good chew to them, though it made me full quickly! It's better shared with a group, so you can continue eating other things. All the veggies were fresh! After reading all the positive reviews was craving some hot pot and finally got to try this spot out. As others have said there is a pretty fair wait on the weekends unless you get there right at open time. We got there 10 min before they opened at 4:30 so we showed up at 4:20 ;) ready to eat. We were actually 1st in line so we had our choice of individual pots or shared table pots. The cool thing here in the pot choices is the pot with the grill which is nice for some of the cuts like brisket and ribeye. We had a party of 5 and were sat at a table made from a 4 and a 2 person table. I can see why there is a wait as the total seating area isn't too big although they do have a few sets of tables outside as well. For the items, the meat was all pretty decent. I would say the ribeye was a little on the lean side but luckily I was able to grill it with the fat from the brisket to get a nice mallard reaction for my steak. The bing bang noodles are nice since they are fresh although they are a little thick for hot pot but tasty none the less. We got to try most of the meats as well as veggies and others. The one item to keep some room for at the end along with the ice cream you get for desert is the fried man tao (fried bread). This was really good, probably could have killed a plate of 4 myself if I wasn't already stuffed from all the meats. Overall for hotpot it is really solid. I would say wait starts happening on the weekend around 5pm, then you gotta plan about 75-90 mins for each group already sitting down. So if you get there at 5:30 maybe the wait is only 30 mins for the people finishing up from 4:30 seating. If you were coming around 6pm I heard 90 min wait. The last time we tried to hit up this spot we were told over 2 hrs but that was at 7pm so we bounced. So plan accordingly. read more

I have been to Top Pot three times and have had a fantastic experience each time! The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating but is on the smaller side. There is usually a wait, but they take your name and phone number and will call you when your table is ready. I typically go for just the hot pot, but you have the option of adding the grill. Honestly, this place is absolutely great! Loved that they have Biang Biang noodles and a variety of higher quality meats than most AYCE places. They let you choose what you want using a pen and a laminated menu, and you can order up to 15 items per round. Loved the beef belly and how you can do individual bbq and hot pot too! We had the galbi, crab rangoons, xui long baos, salmon and avocado rolls, bread with sweetened condensed milk, green onion pancakes, custard baos and so much more!
