I must say I was disappointed with experience. Staff was nice but the way my nails turned out was just so disappointing. I read the reviews and saw the pictures and they looked awesome. But as you can see in my photos my nails are uneven. So different in shape and in size! I have had my fair share of getting acrylics and every time the nail tech check to make sure the nails from the right and left side are even and look the same. Well my nail tech ( didn't get her name) SKIPPED THAT WHOLE PROCESS. If she would have taken the time to check and compare the right to left, she would have noticed the different shapes and size of my nails. I didn't notice it until I left and really looked at my nails. They look okay if you just glance but if you look for a bit longer you can tell. After all my experiences with shellac, this is definitely the best place I've been to. A friend of mine is a regular here so I made an appointment with her to see. My previous experiences at nail salons or getting shellac were uncomfortable due to the tools they used to sand down my nails or push back my cuticles. At Top Nails they used all the same instruments as whatever previous places I've went to at no discomfort whatsoever! I wish I lived closer to Queen Anne because $26 for a full set of gel nails is a great deal. They have a huge variety of gel colors to choose from. I had OPI's Funny Bunny painted on which is a semi sheer opaque white and after 3 weeks, there is still no yellow tint! I came here for a 5 pm appointment. To start, I waited over 40 minutes past my scheduled time for someone to get started on me. I didn't mind initially because I was excited to try a new nail shop. But the tech blindsided me and charged an extra $10, on top of the extra $10 I was already paying for gel polish, for holographic powder. The powder itself is cheap and doesn't take any more time or effort to apply than a coat of regular gel polish. I paid $50, plus tip, for splotchy nails. The tech tried to sweeten the blow by saying she hadn't charged me for a broken nail repair. But as a veteran acrylic wearer, I've never encountered a shop that charges a client extra money to pop off a single broken nail and apply a new one, when they're already paying for a fill. There are too many nail shops in Seattle to be overcharged for mediocrity. read more

After reading so many awesome reviews about acrylics here and going through the photos, I was really hopeful mine would turn out great but unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. Normally I put in the work to do my own acrylics but it's gotten to be such a pain so I decided to go get them done. I made an appointment and was on time and polite but when I showed a picture of what I wanted the lady said that's long and started cutting the tips much short. It felt very rushed and she finished in less than an hour and overall a few nails were uneven in length, my skin was stuck to my nails, and the shape and length weren't what I asked for. Maybe it's just bad luck since all the other photos are so pretty! The women seemed very sweet so otherwise I would come again. I don't usually write reviews but my experience here was so bad that I had to warn others. Staff: Overall rude. The person who did my nails was irritated that I asked to do acrylic instead of a simple manicure. That set the tone for the rest of my visit. She was rough and rude. Shop: Poorly kept. I cannot forget the smell of chemicals that hit as soon as I walked in. The bathroom was a mess. Nails: Mediocre - I have had better pedicures and manicures. My acrylic was uneven. Overall: l tipped well (I was there 2 hrs) and my manicurist attitude turned around instantly. I wish she had been kinder from the start. I recognize it's exhausting work but she made me uncomfortable throughout what was supposed to be a relaxing experience. In hindsight, I should have walked out. The shop has their regulars and those folks are treated with respect. I'll let those folks provide that shop with their business. If you're new to Seattle, head to #1 Pro nails in the same street. I had a great experience getting a pedicure whilst my gf was having a mani/pedi. They don't have paraffin but the foot rub was amazing. They let me sit in the massage chair while my girlfriend finished up the rest of her manicure and I fell asleep because I was so relaxed and comfortable... my chair neighbor was a repeat customer and all of the manicurists knew her by name. I had been scared to do acrylic for a while ever since this other nail salon had kept cutting me, but Tammy listened and she knew what she was doing. Even though it's a small place with lots of people even from the start of the morning, they get to you very quick. It's quick, but they do a great job with your nails and take their time. It's in a nice place on lower Queen Anne by the Metropolitan. I know I'm not the only one who thinks the ladies at the nail salon are talking bad about the customers in their language, and I HATE that, BUT.... the girls here engage with you and they talk to you which is nice, instead of them screaming across the room, so it's a good vibe here. The entire time I was there I did not see any use of sterilization, the women doing my nails took cuticles cutters that was just used on someone else and clipped one of my cuticles. It was great that I did since I showed up at 5 and it was busy and only got busier after that with more appointments and walk ins. If possible, I am going to definitely try to come at lunch instead of right after work just so it isn't as crazy. The place itself seems a little old and even though I had some seconds thoughts, I'm glad I stayed. I got a gel mani and it's honestly probably the best one I've ever got. It's only been a week but it still looks great. Pricing is good as well, it was $26 + $5 to remove my old gel from another place. Service was super friendly as well. My first time visiting, no one greeted me when I walked in. I spoke and said hello to the closest person to the door and she looked up and said nothing to me.... 10 minutes later someone stomped over and asked what I wanted... I told her and she just looked at me and walked away.. so I guess that meant it's okay? Finally after another 14 minutes I was "hand signaled" to come to someone's seat. It's a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but I decided to give it a try and I've got to say, it was one of the best decisions I've made since moving here! I was a walk in that they were able to fit in. I would say my acrylic fill was not great to barely acceptable. She zipped my cuticle with the Dremmell, which drives me nuts. A couple nails were bumpy, one of which she fixed, the other I included a picture. 2 other nails had polish get into and under the cuticle. Since it's gel it's now cured there. Maybe it was because I'm not a regular just someone in the area with the time and need. The other thing that got to me, she told me it was $35, ok. I gave her 2 $20's, she put them in her drawer and said thank you. They must make some hefty tips! read more
