WORST JOB EVER!!! NEVER GO here! I had a terrible experience at this nail salon. Within just a few hours of getting my nails done, the polish started peeling on every nail. The paint was bubbling and looked so bad. I've been getting my nails done for almost 8 years, and I've never had this happen. When I pointed it out, the technician brushed it off, saying, "That's just how it is." No, it's not! I came all the way from Vancouver and expected quality work, but this was far from it. I love this nail salon, I have been going here since they opened 22 years ago. I refuse to go else where as they are they only place that gets them right the first time and if not, will fix them free of charge*. They have recently expanded their store and it is so beautiful. They can accommodate so many more people as they are always extremely busy. The price for product is the best out there. I got these nails done before I went on vacation, they did a fairly good job on the nail set it's self. The nails also lasted a fairly decent amount of time. The downside is I asked for gel nails. I've been here a few times and every time I ask for gel. Instead, they do an acrylic set but don't hesitate to charge you for the gel. I asked her why she was charging me when she didn't do the gel and she just argued that she did. I let it go and paid the price and left. I think it's ridiculous that they charge extra for a service that they don't even do. They just try to make money off of you. It seems like they don't even care about there customers. Ladies, just so you know, gel should burn on your nail when they put it under the light. Acrylic will never burn, that's a huge sign. So I was really debating whether or not I wanted to review Top Nails in Pacific Place. I've been there about 5 times and my experiences have been gotten progressively worse. So much so that it does warrant a 1-star rating plus my recommendation to NOT go to this nail salon. I do not recommend this nail salon because the salon owners are extremely 'wishy-washy' about their prices. Their price lists are $30+ for a new set, $25+ for a fill, $25+ for a pedi...etc., for face value-- great prices but that '+' really gets you in the end. Top Nails does not have estheticians that can do trendy designs. If you want almond, long square or pointy (not stilettos) shapes they can do it-- at additional costs. For some reason, my sister, my cousin and I get the starting rate of $40 for basic stilettos nails but other friends get the exact same set for $25-30. Perhaps, a coincidence? I was really hoping so, but sadly no. This has happened to us three times! My last visit to the salon was particularly troublesome when I asked for a fill. The salon owner said it was $30, I asked what was $25? Because I wasn't changing the shape and I brought my own nail polish. She replied, "Oh okay. Then we can do it for $25." During my fill, she spoke to the esthetician in Vietnamese and walked away. Then the esthetician said to me, "I think we should charge you $30." So what am I paying $30 for? An answer I never got. I like honesty from a company-- I would pay $90 for nails (which I have) if you were transparent with the prices. Why am I getting charged extra for the same services as my friends? This is the reason why I truly dislike this salon. If you are seated next to the register, you will quickly realize that this is a common experience for most patrons. I constantly hear people asking for why they were getting overcharged for things that have a set price-- like the big sign advertising a pedi special for $25. I am definitely a person that believes in you pay for what you get but you shouldn't be subjected to unfair pricing at the salon's choosing. read more

This place was sorta hard to find as Pacific Place is currently under renovation, but the staff at the counter was friendly and sat my friend and I immediatley. My friend and I both got shellac manicures with an accent nail. The color selection for shellac here is AMAZING, 350+ colors! Unfourtantly the quality of the work was not as amazing. The shellac manicure was ok, but it was not worth the $45.00 (with tip) I paid for it. A few days after small cracks started appearing that the edges of most of my nails and within a week I already had a chip. It's been two weeks with the shellac and it no longer has the classic "nail polish shine." It is very dull and looks scratched everywhere. Most of the shellac I had done prior to this lasted three weeks. I'm disappointed in the quality I received here and will not be returning. read more

A quick and easy nail salon if you're just looking for something near your house. I like that they have a pedicure and manicure deal for $40. The few times I've been I didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes. The only thing is they have very limited nail polish colours compared to other places I've been. I find it very disrespectful when the staff speak in another language. It makes myself, and many other customers, uncomfortable. I also find the staff criticize customers by saying things like "don't break your nails this time" - obviously people don't purposely break their nails. I will admit, I read the reviews and was a little concerned. I almost didn't book the appointment because of the one review, but I needed to get my nails done and they are super close to my work. You see, I have extremely fragile and thin nails, and they had started to split a few weeks ago and one of the only ways I can deal with this is to have gel nails for a few weeks. The old set didn't last long enough (and I wasn't very happy with the last place either TBH), so I desperately needed a fill. (BTW I looked on Google Maps, and they appeared to be on the backside of the strip mall across from Marlborough Mall, but they are instead located in Pacific Place Mall. Go inside the doors close to Canadian Tire, they are half way down the hall.) I am happy to report that I had an amazingly fantastic experience, and will happily return any time!! I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment, and the lady immediately acknowledged me. She indicated I should take a seat on one of the chairs, but I decided to windowshop for a few minutes instead. When I got back about 7-8 minutes later (still early for my appointment), the gentleman motioned me inside. I took a seat, he asked me my name (which he proceeded to use the entire visit - very professional IMHO!), and what I would like done. I explained I had gel nails, and needed them filled. He asked if I wanted liquid gel, or if I had heard of Solar Gel. I told him I had heard of him through Yelp, and that the Solar Gel was the reason I was there. He explained the differences and benefits of both, and I chose the Solar. He proceeded to take the old gel off (he told me he was only going to charge for a fill BTW!!), and then built my Solar Gel base. It was so fast I couldn't believe it!! And no pain from the curing process!! I know some people don't feel pain when they get their nails done, but to me it honestly feels like my finger tips are on fire. It hurts bad enough I have had to pull my hands out before. The Solar Gel cured on one hand while he polished the other one! The Solar Gel is a powder, and he used a paint brush to dab it on, and shape it to make it look natural. He pointed out it is a light pink colour, and after he finished the one hand I looked and I could have left right then! He had done a great job of shaping the nails, and with the pink tone the nails looked better than my natural nail. He finished with the shaping of the one hand, and then used the drill to clean and smooth the gel. He filed the nails down to the length I wanted (short), and then buffed them to a shine. He asked me the polish colour (over 400 to choose from, with apparently an additional 100+ coming soon!), and proceeded to paint the nails. I was dumbfounded by the speed he did everything! I noticed the girls on either side of me getting their nails done, btw, and the other staff were equally as skilled and speedy. When one lady was finished her client (also Solar Gel), she helped with the other staff members client (again, also Solar Gel). They are a team, and it shows! All in all, I was in and out of there in under an hour. My nails look fantastic, and I am EXTREMELY pleased with the result. I love the Solar Gel and will go back for it again. read more

Had a great time there! They were really nice. My sister and I went. She picked a certain colour and they had put on the wrong one so when she realized and told them they toke it off and started over with the right colour without a problem or extra charge. They did an amazing job. Acrylic for me was about 35$, I got an acrylic French manicure and my sister got a Shellac colour for 30$. They did a great job. Some people might complain because my nails aren't exactly the same height but in my opinion it looks more natural that way and it so small only yourself could notice. It was a great time! We booked an appt for 10am and they took walk-ins before us, further, the staff was doing each other's nails and their own before serving customers? They completely rushed the pedicure and when I pointed out some skin/cuticle that was left behind, she said, "I've done it already".. she was very argumentative and I am fairly certain they talked crap about my friends and I during the entire visit. I've never been treated so poorly at a business. They also have a very low selection in polish colours, forcing you to choose from the shellac selection. I needed to get my nails done for graduation and I was not impressed by this place at all. It wasn't busy when I went in there on a whim and they said they could get me in right away. I wanted gel nails but in a nude color. The lady gave me the samples to choose the colors and she was very impatient with me. I picked a nude that looked darker on the sample and when it went on my nail it was very light and didn't look good on my skin tone (it looked like my nail color) so I asked if I could change and she didn't let me. she kept saying how it was fine and shell put a couple more coats on to make it darker. So I believed her and guess what, it didn't change. She wouldn't let me change the coat and I was so not impressed. The lady also wasn't very good at filing and nicked the skin around my nail a few times. Never coming here again. They don't care about customer satisfaction, just after your money. read more

I went in to get TWO ACRYLIC FULL SETS with my friend (who never gets her nails done in the 1st place) and since my regular salon was closing early that day and I REALLY wanted to get my nails done, I thought we would come here instead. It was 4:45pm and we were told to come back in an hour so we went and did some errands, and questioned how they would finish 2 full sets if they were closing at 6. But still kept taking every single guest that was coming into the salon up until 6:50? and did not reject a single person however once those clients were in, they were just rushed and couldn't even enjoy the services properly because they all obviously wanted to get out of there. We get our nails done, everything is fine. And once I'm about to pay I notice he charged me $57.50, whereas I should have only payed $45, and he goes on to say that it's cause I have solar gel set with shellac on top... and I was ASTONISHED. I said to him, I didn't ask for solar gel though...I have never gotten those done in my life. I came in and asked for 2 acrylic full sets... and I said "do you not tell your clients what you are doing on them?" And he jokes with his wife and says "oh next time honey she's saying we have to tell them eh, etc." and I said there will be no next time, paid and walked out. Every single time I have gone to this specific location, I have noticed so much disrespect/racism towards anyone that is of color. As you can also see, all the "decent" reviews they have are all by Caucasian people (I don't mean this in any negative way) because they know that these people take things like this very seriously. Once my friends nails were done, they told her to put the cuticle oil on her hands herself when this is a service that is included in what we are paying for.. if you cannot provide your guests with your 100% attention and cannot handle that big of a rush then do not continue to keep taking clients and then make the customer feel like you're doing them a favor. NO you are not doing anyone a favor. You are getting paid for the service you are providing. And there was clearly no point of me arguing with him over $15 because they make you look ridiculous. But I will for sur never ever go back and I am someone who gets my nails done every 3 weeks. These are not the solar nails. These are the powder acrylic with a gel polish over top. They do a good job unless they are busy. Then they rush through their work and it gets sloppy. I had my nails done last week and they are already chipping and need to be done again. If you want the 'real' solar gel, it is a liquid gel that is put on and then put under the light to harden. If they use any powder at all then it is not the the real deal. I will not be going back. Do not clean tools from one customer to the next. read more

Terrible service!! I made an appointment for 5 pm, when I arrived they were all with other clients, and that's ok I don't mind waiting for a few minutes. They told me to have a seat and they would be right with me. 25 mins later I was told 5 more minutes and then after a total of 45 minutes finally they helped me...... kinda. I made an appointment because it was my B-day and I had a birthday dinner to attend. Once I was finally sitting down I decided I would not be upset about the wait, it was getting done and I should be able to make it to my dinner. I was wrong, once he had the tips glued on another customer walked in, obviously a regular as he knew her by name. He then told me the other lady would help me when shes done with the customer she was helping and he got up and moved over to her and started doing her nails. I was in complete shock it was an hour since I got there at this point and apparently I didn't make priority list. When the lady finally came over to finish my nails I tried to engage her in conversation but with no luck, her and the gentleman were just talking to the regular beside me completely ignoring me, she started making phone calls while she was doing my nails too. Finally she says to let them dry then put the oil on myself and wash my hands. After I sit back down and the guy looks at me and says Your Done!! I said actually my one nail is crooked and needs the top straightened out, I could tell he didn't like this, he rolled his eyes came over and straightened it out. I am leaving a bit out here cause its just so much to say, but let me say the appointment was for me and for my daughters to get there nails painted, what was supposed to be a nice time out with them on my birthday turned into a nightmare, they were treated like second class citizens. I was paying for there nails and mentioned it on the phone but it seemed to be an inconvenience. I would have left when he glued the tips and left me sitting there but I had a GC I got from my sister. If I had been paying for my nails out of pocket there's no way I would have stayed.
