I don't generally write reviews, I'd rather just accept a lesson learned and move on. I'm writing this only because I'd really like to ensure this doesn't happen to someone else. First off, listen to your gut when there are red flags. Same day appt? Yes. In a prime booking time like lunch hour in the downtown core? Yes. An empty salon? Yes. I ignored these and am paying for it. The only plus' on this were the above red flag items. Quick, and available. So if you are looking for quick and available and don't care about the health of your nails, the quality of the work, of the appearance then this is your place! (oh and it's cheap) I went in for a French nail fill. 1. She used the same sanding bit for the entire process. She left on a bunch of the old gel, so in some places you can see the line and color difference between new and old. 2.No cuticle clean up, unless you count the locations where she abraded my fingers sanding off the skin. 3. In some places the gel doesn't even reach the edges of my nail or it's been filed so poorly that any gel that might have been there is filed off. 4. there are bumps in the gel 5. there are bit of white gel, in the clear gel. 6. they aren't straight. (not just not aligned with other fingers, but on one nail, it is a noticeably wider on one edge of the white than the other edge (see thumb pic). 7. when filing initially the machine was vibrating my hand so much it was actually painful on my nail beds. 8. when filing with the manual file, the edge of my thumb was filed and has a tear now. 9. they are dull... which, should never happen. That final coat of gel should make your nails pretty, and glossy and put together!!! 9. The salon is filthy. The walls, the floors, the tables... all of it. read more

3.5 stars. Stopped in on a Saturday morning. It is conveniently located in walking distance of my hotel. The salon is small and quiet. Mary was my tech. She did a gel polish removal and shellac manicure for $33 (not counting tip). She was friendly and took her time with my cuticles, buffed and filed my nails nicely. I also received a little hot stone hand massage after. It wasn't the best manicure I've ever had but she did a good job. I will probably come back when I'm in town. read more

Fill time! Well, in Vancouver we used to call them "sweat shop nail shops". For obvious reasons. Nowadays you will find most express/cheap/sleazy type nail bars are run by a gaggle of Vietnamese gals & guys..usually with some kind of waxing service. I went here on a whim on xmas eve to get a set of nails for vacation. Mainly because they were close to the office and the only joint open. Well, beyond the English language efficiency deficiency, (who cares) the 1 set were pretty good and the fill was even better. Pricing? Great. Ability to get in? Great. They bump you around with other customers - hey, they're just trying to make a buck at a discount. For a set of gel nails with gel polish it was under $75. I've paid $100 plus just for gel polish on hands and feet. I'll be a regular until rock climbing season starts again. Thanks gals. read more

I've gone here a few times because it's the only nail salon close to my work, but I've never been completely happy with their work. I was in last week for shellac colour on my hands and the next day the shellac on one finger immediately started to peel off. I've gone back AND called to try to get in to have them fix it, but they refuse to make the time. Quite frustrating. read more

I visited this nail shop for a fill and pedicure & highly recommend them. They are two vietnamese sisters that own and operate this and found them to be charming and very skilled. I am from the U.S. and acrylic nails are the norm there. They told me about liquid gel and how much better it is and asked if i'd rather do that. It took some extra time but I am extremely thrilled with this natural look and that it can last up to 4 weeks for those who have a busy schedule. I also spent a little more and had them do Shellac polish on my fingers & toes! Beautiful and they say this is tough stuff and will not peel or fade. I am anxious to see how it holds up. Paid a little over $90 + tip for the fill, pedi & Shellac, this is right in there for this quality. Would have given them 5 stars but they need to repaint and spruce up the inside a bit. Hard not to notice this when you're sitting in there for 2+hrs. They are extremely busy so suggest making an appointment! read more

When they ask you "Do you want your whites darker?" SAY YES!!!! I said no as broken english is not my first language. I walked out with a fill with my tips not filled in and looking the exact same as when I came in. Thank god it was only $25. Now I know when nails cost $80, you will get a good job. My initial set cost $80 and I was so impressed. I will definitley be going elsewhere. I only went as it was downtown and I went on a lunch hour! If I could give them no stars I would. I asked for white tip short acrylic nails well I got horribly not even straight nails with bubbles. She didn't give me instructions for when to pull them out of the uv light so all my nail beds were burned it was extremely painful. So I asked the next day to have them removed they didn't use any liquid on my fingers whatsoever just a powered up Dremel. She went so down on my nail bed that it's practically my skin under my nails. read more

I went here asked for my nails to be taken off and a new set done. They initially argued with me about not getting a new set ... not sure why ? And then I showed two photos I liked and this girl couldnt color match at all so I said fine white tips. Cant go wrong with that. She glued on a nail that was really not straight at all so I said something and shes like no it's fine.... like it was facing the other hand basically and she knew I wasnt happy so she redid the nail. Now I came in with acrylic and said I needed it because my nails break easy.. she didn't listen and started doing gel. Again why ? Then when it was all done THAT night the nails started breaking and pulling out my hair and 2 days later they started lifting... I had my nails on for 4 days before I went to another nail salon and asked them to fix these guys mess up. Sassy nails charged me 65 dollars. For me to then pay someone else 45 dollars to fix them because they looked horrible. read more

I have been a nail tech and hairstylist for almost 20 years. I am the absolute worst client to have sit in your chair! I have to say that Mary did the most amazing set out of anyone else that has done my nails....ever. The nails were nice and thin, with perfect finishing and has held up beautifully over the last 3 weeks. Once they were done I couldn't stop looking at them. While not the cleanest place in the world the work I had done was well worth the price. I think I paid 45 for a fill with Shellac. I have an appointment tomorrow! read more

I have been a customer of Sassy Nail for 5 years. The shop is owned and operated by sisters Mary and Lisa. Both are very skilled, hard working and friendly. The shop puts emphases on hygienics and has always been very clean. I have never had to wait for my appointment as they seem to schedule and management time very well. Since my first visit to have artificial gel nails put on I have never had any problems or had them taken off. My own nails underneath the gel are very healthy. I would highly recommend either Mary or Lisa as a nail technician. read more

Sassy Nails is great for gel nails. The price is really good and the quality is great. Compared to other places I have been to the nails are strong but not so thick that it is hard to do things with your nails...in other words it feels more natural. Keep in mind English is their second language but there is always someone their who translates what you are saying. I wouldn't suggest them for all services but I have tried a few other services and they are ok. read more

I wouldn't go anywhere else to get my gel nails done except for Sassy Nails. Mary and Lisa are very talented and it's true that the nails look very natural and lovely. I went for a fill elsewhere once when I couldn't get downtown and needed to have them done, and the quality wasn't the same. I go for a fill every 2 - 3 weeks with Sassy and I'm always happy with the result. Prices are competitive as well. read more
