I was in town for a wedding and dropped in for gel pedicure. I chose classic pedicure for $40. All was going well. He told me it would be $5 extra for callous removal. I agreed. I tipped him $10 cash before check out. At checkout, the bill was $60. I asked why and was told it was for gel removal. My previous gel pedicure was professionally removed. he chose to use the drill briefly around the edge on a few toe nails. It took no more than 2 minutes and I was charged $15 for this. I feel like I was taken advantage of and I am frustrated with myself for not fighting this charge. read more

I came to Top Nails in Boone NC to get acrylics. It was $85 for my ombré medium length square set. 10% discount for app students so it was $76 after that. The attention to detail is something I really admire with Van, my nail tech, and the salon all together. I think you really get what you pay for here the quality is really amazing! I also love this place because it's very stylish! Van went along with me and changed the idea as many times as I wanted (i was being indecisive) and didn't complain! I plan to go back in a few weeks. I just had a horrible experience with the owner of this nail salon. He books appointments too close together and rushes his staff to hurry and finish. Today was the last straw for me with his terrible behavior. He was rude to me about picking out polish and that my manicure was taking too long. I was there on time. Kent was running late. He suggested I try the powder manicure and after we started Kent advised there would be no manicure with the Powder process. I told him I needed a manicure so we changed to a gel manicure. Kent asked me to pick the gel color from the shelf and the owner barked at me again for selecting a color from the shelf and that the appointment was taking too long. I don't need or want this drama. There are other more professional nail salons with owners who treat their clients and their staff much more respectable this guy. read more

My sister and young daughter accompanied me for pedicures to Top Nails this week. I am so very disappointed in the service we received. My poor 6yr old daughter received a cold "hot towel" and no leg massage... she was done within 15min and had to wait on the rest of us. The technician who did my pedicure clearly hated his job- and I maintain my nails so they were easy. Nobody tried to speak or converse with us. To top it all- I was charged a CRAZY HIGH amount for me and my daughter. My sister paid separately and her total was a totally different charge than what they charged me for mine. No explanation was given, no telling beforehand what the total was- just "insert credit card". Then sticking their hand out for a cash tip. Idk how this place is in business.... I'm not sure why others seemed to have complaints about this place. Several other reviews had me hesitant but I know how to say stop if it's looking like a train wreck. I was having tires done down the road and needed to kill a few hours and god know a nail day can help with that. My acrylic nails, gel polish and pedi were done to perfection. I personally don't usually do acrylic but after Covid I figured I'd try it out. Happy I did! I think they turned out great like with every manicure I can't help but look and study them for minutes at a time and I can't see a flaw. I travel plenty and have my nails done in a lot of places, Top Nails is now on my list of places to run in get it done and go. If you want a Spa go to Grove Park Inn and splurge but I know for a fact they don't do gel. read more

I have had good experiences here in the past, but today was very disappointing and the absolute worst. Lee took one and a half hours to do my dip powder manicure. He was rough in removing my old polish, causing burning and damage to my natural nail. He applies more than six coats of dip powder (on one hand) in order to cover up the pink color he deposited on my white polish with a dirty brush he used to remove some loose powder. My cuticles are torn up and sore. As a result of this botched and very frustrating manicure, one hand has very thick and thicker nails than the other, AND a different color than the other. I was supposed to get a pedicure here as well, but I was so upset, I paid the bill and left. Lee may have the ability to give a good simple manicure, but he should not be allowed to do powder manicures until he is trained properly. I will not return to Top Nails. read more

Walked in without an appointment for dip manicure and pedicure and only had 20 minute wait. Staff was friendly and both services were good.

Nail salons in Boone simply aren't the best, but this place was pretty bad. I asked for gel with tips, the guy I had told me that there was no such thing, so I'd have to get SNS instead if I wanted tips. He started filing my nail down and I told him I'd just get acrylics, because SNS can't be filled in. He got pretty irritated and sent me to another lady who did the gel polish with tips (which he had previously told me they couldn't do) and she was so rough with my hands. I've had plenty of manicures, but this one was the most painful I've ever had. She left my nails jagged and seemed to be angry and rushed the entire time. She didn't get the excess acrylic that was stuck under my nails- and it was pressing against my skin and that got pretty painful after a while. She even left glue on my fingers- and I paid $45 in total, $15 being for a "manicure" that I never received, as my cuticles and actual nails were never filed or touched. I had to go to another salon to get it fixed because I didn't trust Top Nails to fix it after that experience. I've had a good experience here before, but I guess it comes down to who you get and whether the owner is there or not, but it's probably not worth the risk. read more

I came in with high hopes because of so many great reviews but was very disappointed. My nail tech did not speak one word of English so it was very difficult to communicate what I wanted or what was wrong. The nails on my right hand were left longer than on my left, there was nail polish left on my skin and cuticles, and the nail polish applied was chunky. Technician barely spoke to us but was very friendly with every female college student that came in. Charged extra for coffin shaped, not mentioned anywhere on their website. I asked about eyebrow waxing and was told "if we have time". He skipped several steps in the full set including having her wash her hands, using a base coat or a top coat and filing or trimming her cuticles which I didn't notice until the end. When I asked about her cuticles I was told it was too late. When I insisted that they looked bad, I was told he could fix it for an extra $10. I was willing to do that but then another man came over and told me that if I didn't like it to "leave and go somewhere else". Then he told me it wasn't his job to tell me what services I needed. I asked the person doing my manicure to make my nails a little more round. They responded, "it looks better this way. Round makes you look old". They also made me bleed multiple times. I went back a couple of days later to let the owner know about my experience and show him my nails. He told me the scabs on my fingers were dirt or "something black" on my nail and took a cotton ball with alcohol on it and tried to wipe them off. He then told me that I would need to come back and talk with him and the person who did my manicure so he could find out what happened. I told him I was telling him what happened and wanted my money back. The person who did my manicure took a dremel tool and cut my cuticles 7 times. He had to wipe blood off of 3 of my fingers while I was there. He told me I would have to come back on Thursday and speak with the person who did it so that I could get my money directly from him and that he (the owner) could not do anything about it. I have scabs on 7 of my fingers from my manicure on Friday. read more

Great service, very attentive staff. They were all very kind to me and answered all of my questions and didn't try to upsell me anything. Had a lovely experience and will be returning. Interesting location but definitely worth checking out. They tint brows now too, just waiting for a place to do eyelash perms! Regardless of language, all staff were able to treat me with dignity and communicate my services to me. And they turn off the lights when certain rooms aren't in use which I think is fantastic because it saves money and the environment. read more
