The prices were right on point with other salons in Lake County but I thought the service was much better than I have gotten in any other walk in friendly nail salon. I had a dip done. I told her that I wanted to keep the nails as long as possible, so please only file and shape and that two of the nails needed tips, as they were shorter. Not only did she completely ignore my request, she cut the nails down, did not put on the tips, and when I told her I was not happy with the result, she said (verbatim). "They'll grow back." I had been getting my gel nails done and pedicures at another place for years, and decided to try a new place closer to home. I called Top Nails in Zion, IL. They got me in the same day I called. Wow, I didn't realize what I had been settling for by going to the same place for so long. The pedicure that I got at Top Nails was so much more detailed and thorough.My feet and nails look and feel awesome! I also had my gel nails done. I was a little bummed that I couldn't get ombre polish on gel nails but what I did get was beautiful. I would surely recommend Top Nails to anyone. I got my nails done Wednesday of last week so 2/7/18. It is now five days later and one of my nails broke off. I'd see if i was doing something ruff but I just placed my hand on my head and it broke. I wandered in here because my husband was waiting in line to get a haircut. I thought, "How different can nail salons be?" At first, I was pleased. They appeared to be closed for the evening, but were gracious enough to permit me to receive service. (Thank you!) I hadn't had a set of nails in a couple months, so my nailbeds were fresh and un-ridged. She (the tech and manager) ground them down to receive tips, which immediately hurt. She glued the tips on and put a big glob of acrylic on there. It was pretty sloppy. I begged her to mind the edges because I'm a bit of a picker. She pretty well politely ignored or didn't understand me or didn't possess the capacity to do this correctly. I left there with a boxy, stubby, edge-overrunning, set of chubby nails. I began to pick at them right away. They were burning and spilled over onto my shredded cuticles. I pulled back the sloppy perimeter just to stop the pain and was fine with my ugly little nails for a day or two. I figured, I'd just beg forgiveness from my usual tech/owner and get them fixed at fill time. (Until on the 3rd day, middle finger tip popped off. It left the nail bed perfectly clean. didn't take any nail with it at all.) I revisited the shop to ask for a partial refund to go visit my regular tech for a repair and fill. I explained that after my painful, sloppy experience, I didn't REALLY want them to do any 'repair' work here. I wasn't asking for my whole $37 dollars back, just $25 so I could go get the fill-in and replacement tip. They would not budge. It was let them fix the tip/ hot mess (really??!) or nothing. When I get a GOOD set of new tips, I don't need a fill for 3 weeks. I leave the first fresh set alone because they're not shaggy. I was breaking off excess of this set the minute I walked out of the door. The first sign of stress, a banged hand, and off pops a 3 day old tip. Never seen that happen. I even threatened to write a bad review since I saw their son tweeting away. They were undaunted. I'll avoid this place like the plague. It's dark, not very updated. The staff was receptive to receive a client at first, perhaps they should have thought better of it. read more

I never write reviews. In fact, I made a Yelp account just for this. I have been getting mani & pedi since I was literally 8 years old. I told myself that I would never go back here after the last Management treated me so bad; he was so rude & disrespectful. Well after hearing they were under new management, I gave them another chance. I went with my mom & had a much better experience with the girl that did our pedi. However, yesterday a man by the name of "How" lost them a customer...forever. There was a somewhat language barrier, that was only intensified by his lack of listening skills. I made an appointment for a gel mani and a pedi for my birthday vacation. My pedi actually turned out ok, even though he NEVER PICKED UP A SINGLE NAIL FILE....my nails were "shaped" with nail clippers???? My skin was only "grated" off - never filed. I have NEVER seen that before, but as he made VERY clear, he was in a rush to the next customer. It wasn't until my toe nail color was being applied, did he notify me that the tigers-eye gel polish would not look the same as the sample on shorter nails. So, I was still unsure of the color I should pick; after all, I was about to spend $60 on just my gel mani. That's when he talked to me with complete disrespect, saying "I need to pick a color" also that I had to hurry so that he could take care of the next customer. He had JUST told me that the gel polish I picked wouldn't look the same!! It a state of disbelief at his customer service, I told him to forget the mani, and just charge me for the pedi. I went to the UV nail drying table and turned it on myself, and as I did, the woman he was rushing to get to...walked out. He lost 2 customers with his attitude. Then he had the nerve to say "well she left, want me to do your nails now". I told him that I do not want to spend any more of my money in this place. I had been friendly and kind throughout my entire pedi & half of the time he ignored me, or didn't understand me (which I could understand if he was actually trying to listen). This is twice now (I forgot after the last time they did it to me a few years ago) that I've gone to this shop to get a fill on my acrylics when I was in Zion visiting my father-in-law ... and twice now that they're given me a MASSIVE NAIL FUNGUS INFECTION!!! It's been about three weeks when I was there, and when I stopped in another shop along the way to get another fill today, I had three nails that were TOTALLY BLACK under my acrylics! ... and two more that were half-way there, too, forcing me to have to pay someone else to completely remove my acrylics and then treat the fungus. Now it will be at least 6-8 weeks before my nails grow out enough that I can cut the fungus completely out before I can have new acrylics put back on! Thanks a lot, TOP NAILS! :( I am VERY UNHAPPY with the cleanliness in this shop! I will NEVER use them again ... and everyone else should avoid them like the PLAGUE, too!!! read more

Horrible nail salon! I had a pedicure there and a big hole was filed into my big toe which became infected. They put a piece of gauze with a band aid on it and told me to go home and soak in a vinegar foot bath which I did. Found out later that was the wrong advice! Following day, I went and asked for the owner's name and number and they refused to give me the information! So I proceeded to show them my toe and told them I planned on filing a number of complaints against them. The older male employee laughed. There was a 3rd employee there that looked like a kid doing pedicures. I wonder if he is licensed! A customer stood up and called me "ghetto". Really? Consumer Beware!
