Serene Nails was indeed a quiet place when I stopped in one afternoon. I and one other customer were there getting manicures. Olga did a nice job on my standard manicure. I liked that there was pop music playing quietly and the TVs had captions on but not sound. Their space is also offered for parties. I liked that there were free samples of cuticle oil, candy, drying spray on the drying table. Overall very nice and professional -- I just received a $5 off coupon by email so I will probably go back. Minus 1 star -- 2 of my nails are quite rough after one day and I will need to cut them. I have been going to Serene Nails for quite some time. The staff is courteous and hard working. I'm always greeted when I arrive even if they are all at stations working on customers. They have massage chairs - which I absolutely love. They're definitely showing their wear but work just as well. This was my first time in. The pedicure I received was "ok." The biggest drawback is that their choice of nail colors is very very limited. I could not find a color that would match my finger nail color. Price for a regular pedi was $4 more than my go to salon. She said it was a Happy Hour special (?) I'm not sure when these pictures were taken, but they aren't recent. There's water damage and mold on the ceiling. Some of the polishes are old and dry. Some of the ladies work quickly and do half jobs despite charging full price and expecting a tip. I had to come home and finish cleaning out under my big toe on my own. I had to clean the pedicure gunk off of my big toe while I was still in the chair because she already slinging nail polish without finishing the previous step. I get ingrown toenails and had trained my toenails to stop doing that-it took months. In one pedicure they managed to screw it all up by not doing an adequate job and cutting them weird and now the ingrowns are back in only a couple of weeks. I had another lady do my manicure and she was good. They did a good job on my daughter as well.... But she's 8 so expectations aren't high. They're re-using things like emory boards for every client. They rinse tools in the sink and toss them in the sterilizer-no one is actually scrubbing or cleaning them. I'd rather pay extra for fresh, new or properly cleaned equipment. They're schedule is usually fairly open so if you're in a pinch this will work but I'd definitely seek quality and sanitary services elsewhere. Also, I don't have proof but I'm pretty sure they're taking pictures off of IG from others salons called Serene Nails from around the country and posting it as their work because I never saw any work that good while I was in the salon.... I was waiting for my 4.5 year old during her Sunday swim class & examining my scary looking nails. When she got out of the water "wow! You swam great today. Want to go for a special treat...a manicure!" (Translation- i really need a manicure and don't have time all week so I'm only getting one if I take you with). Of course she was more than happy to oblige as long as we headed somewhere with pink sparkly polish. Your criteria too? I called a few nail salons in the area and serene nails was the only one open on Sunday's that could take us right away. It turned out I wasn't the only one who's nails needed some love because they were packed, but as promised squeezed us right in. They have all the standard nail polishes and plenty of sparkles to choose from. The woman who did my daughters nails was incredibly patient as she was instructed to do a different color sparkle on each nail. She most definitely deserved an extra tip. As it should painting my daughters nails took way shorter than mine so she had fun playing with the pedicure massage chair as my manicurist finished up. There were a few screams about a monster being in the chair trying to get her but everyone who worked there as well as the customers didn't seem bothered by it. My vinylux nail polish dried fast, which is good when dealing with bucking car seats minutes after a manicure. I went with a dark grey color (hello fall) and it wasn't until more than a week later that I was re -examining my nails thinking about when I'd have time for a mani. read more

I thought this was my go-to salon, but the last few times they've rushed and do my mani and pedi at the same time. I always get Dazzle Dry and have no issues, I love the system and it usually lasts me at least a week on my hands. Not 2 hrs and my nails are shot. The cuticles are not great either. It's Christmas and my nails look like they've been done a week ago. As a mom that rarely gets out to do anything for herself, I feel ripped off and disappointed. I always remain hopeful, but this pedicure is at the top of the worst list. Going through the motions, tug tug on the foot, no real massage at all, just some up and down on the lower leg. So many things, the skin and cuticles around the nails not trimmed, I even pointed a couple out twice and it didn't get fixed, sloppy caked on paint job, a brief sanding of the feet and i still have dead skin on the big toe as I left, don't worry, i took care of it whilst i was removing the terrible toe paint. I was in the chair with the nail person (i question if she was even a tech) for twenty minutes and left there to dry for thirty. If you have $40-50 bucks to toss out, come here. The vibe is awful. Simply awful. I think highland park should also do a sanitation check on this place. What a complete bust and waste of my time and money. Terrible. Awful. Mehhhhhhh. read more

After seeing the reviews and pictures, I decided to try it! When I went to my pedicure appointment the girl at the front desk was kind and explained if I picked out this certain brand of color, "it was 5 dollars more, but it would stay on longer and it was "nicer" than the colors. I said ok, glad to try out the new brand. (3 days after the pedicure, 1 nail is completely chipped off) The pictures online are beautiful, hence another reason I chose it- and I was surprised it does not look that nice in person. Lighting was bright and awful in person- compared to the nice ambiance lighting it showed online. There was only me and 1 other person in the nail salon on a Saturday- I was very surprised again. It was a bitterly cold day out- ALL of the pedicure chairs were completely open. Yet they put me in the very first chair next to the freezing door! I asked if I could have a chair further away from the door- but the girl just walked away and told me to "put my feet in the bowl". She gave no direction or help getting up in the chair- no explanation of how the chair works, no customer service at all. I am a first time customer and even stated that- so I wondered how their pedicures were- what types of products they use and their prices. Yet NO explanation of anything they offered, except they had 2 different prices. I chose the second better higher priced pedicure - thinking it would be better? Not a chance, my friends. Then I put my hand in the bowl to test the water as thier salon was cold and the water was not even lukewarm. Again, I thought that was odd, but I thought I'd just warm up with my cold feet in the hot pedicure bowl and give them a chance at making this right. No big deal, I thought. I didn't want to make a fuss, perhaps they were having an off day as we all do. Let me just say, I certainly was wrong at trying to give them a chance- as in MANY chances. I got myself up in the chair and had to remind the girl twice that the water was too cold. She said "you'll get used to it, feet are different than hands". I said "No, please, I need the water to be hot or at least warm". She acted annoyed and turned the hot water on. I should have turned around and left at that point, but here I was with my feet in a cool watered bowl on a freezing day. Still I wanted to give them a chance and didn't want to seem like I was being difficult. The person who came out to do my nails was an older woman who was not friendly at all. Not overthinking it, I gave her a chance to warm up. I smiled and tried to make conversation- no response. She didn't speak or look at me- and did not even introduce herself or smile. I'm trusting my feet with her? She Immediately started throwing in colored flakes of something not even asking me what kind of sales or products I wanted. No questions of what I needed- once again- the WORST service. What if I had ingrown toe nails? Or had specific requests? Even though I didn't, I thought that was weird. I sat there and tried to not say how horrible it was. Rough, tough, and literally no taking off my calluses or anything. Just very rough hands pushing and jamming in between my freezing toes that was extremely painful. I had to ask her kindly twice "to be more gentle" and I normally would never do that! When I asked "When will I get a normal pedicure massage for my feet and calves?" she acted very annoyed, speaking to her other staff members in their language and did NOT become more gentle. I was in shock. She did NOT give a massage at all- even after the second time I requested it. And this was the more expensive pedicure?? After it was almost over and I was completely in pain on my cuticles, not even happy with the results or colored toes, I just wanted out of there. My toes were freshly painted wet and she just tapped my calf and said "Your done, finished, you can go" and pointed to the door. With wet, cold, freshly painted toes...I said "Well, where are your nail dryers? How can I leave with wet toes?" She acted like it didn't even phase her that I was upset, and asked the front desk girl to talk to me instead of her. The front desk girl came over and told me where to go to dry my nails in another area, yet she didn't help me get down or assist. No help in getting out of the bowl where all the dirty water was, no help grabbing my handbag or shoes, absolutely nothing. I told her kindly at the drying table, I was completely dissatisfied and disappointed in the awful service and how rude the nail person was! She just said "oh, ok. Go ahead and dry your nails for 15 min and then you can go". I've never seen such poor service from a nail establishment!! You guys were horrible. Save your cash and get treated like a human being elsewhere!!! read more

While I had a decent experience at the salon, it was leaving that my manicure fell apart. On some nails I have cracking (seen in picture) on others, I have tons of little bubbles, and on others I have both! I got my nails done less than 4 days ago and they started looking bad just 2 days after getting them done! They continue to get worse each day. I can only guess that they thin out or add substances to their polish to make them last longer as the polish itself was very thin and streaky. Also, the manicurists don't go to the full edge of the nail which is one of my pet peeves. So frustrating. Try to go to another HP place- if possible. read more

Simply enjoyed my experience here at Serene! I dropped by about a week ago for quick mani/pedi and they were able to do it same time for me, which saved me some time. Plus, I've tried the dazzle dry nail polish on my nails(they said it's new thing), which dries faster and lasts longer than regular polishes. I liked how shiny my nails are after a week. The salon was very clean and upheld strict social distancing measures. I had originally came for a pedicure, but it was so relaxing/well done that I stayed for a manicure. It's $35 for a mani/pedi which is very reasonable, especially for the area. Jack did my nails. He was very gentle, but also left my dry and crackled cuticles looking clean and hydrated. Just couldn't wait to update this review!!! So after writing a terrible review about Serene Nails about when every time I got a manicure I'd get the girl who was also dealing with the phone... I call back to give this place one more chance. It's about 2pm and I am calling about an appointment at 3:15pm specifically as I am picking up a friend and would be in town around that time. So I call Serene Nail's number and after a couple of rings, I hear just breathing on the phone. After listening to this for a couple of seconds I start the conversation saying "Hello, is this Serene Nails?" It takes the person on the other side of the line like a full 10 seconds to respond and then in a rude tone says "Yes." I'm already put off by this attitude but continue with the appointment request with "Do you have an appointment for a regular manicure at 3:15 today?" The person on the other side of the line CUTS ME OFF as I say the time with "No." I'm just silent on my end, and I just hear breathing and a filing noise. She doesn't say alternative times that would work or even apologizes. I then say "Ok, thanks!" and the person just hangs up. Please tell me how this person is booking appointments and keeping Serene Nails in business because I obviously can't book an appointment! Thought I would give this place a second chance as my family always goes and are regulars but I cannot bring myself to go after being treated poorly so many times. read more

I was able to get a same-day appointment at Serene for a no-chip manicure and pedicure ahead of a road-trip to a destination wedding. Very clean salon/spa - +1 Great color selection - +1 Pedicure - +1 it has held up extremely well. No-Chip - I'm neutral on this, because I have noticed that french no-chip manicures don't hold up that well, and I could've asked for an extra coat, but didn't. This led to some chipping before the 2 weeks was up. I would definitely go back again and try for a color rather than french. read more
