I'm terrified of heights, but our captain was so kind and reassuring that I actually felt excited instead of scared. The moment we lifted off, everything changed. It was quiet, peaceful, and unbelievably beautiful--like floating above the world. The boat ride itself was fun, the people were great, and the whole experience felt effortless from start to finish. David was especially reassuring throughout the entire process, knowing I was a little nervous. He gave detailed instructions and was clearly very knowledgeable. Parking is available on-site, but it can get full and cramped. I parked across the street, where there was plenty of space. If your check-in time is delayed, they'll email you. There's also a restroom to the left of the entrance. Once inside, head upstairs to sign the digital waiver, then check in with the staff. I recommend bringing a bottle of water and a small snack, especially on busy days when you may wait 2-3 hours after check-in before your flight. Your mouth can get very dry during the ride up, so gum or candy prior helps. Lockers are available once your name is called. Come with patience- you definitely want everyone involved in the parachute setup process to take their time for safety. There are usually 4-5 skydivers per group. Once your name is called, you'll get fitted with your harness and then take a short bus ride to the aircraft. The boarding process was efficient. I was first off the plane, which gave me less time to overthink! The initial freefall is incredibly fast, so remember to breathe and keep your eyes open to fully enjoy it. David was an awesome tandem instructor, and I felt safe the entire time. I also appreciated the longer airtime to enjoy the sunset. The photos turned out great too! There was a massive southern swell this week so it was fun watching surfers in the Harbor and surf the Wedge. Waves got over 40ft but we saw 20 to 25 easy. So our tour recieved great seats to watch incredible surfing plus the 10 minutes in the air with parasailing was peaceful and therapeutic. Highly recommend using this company to Parasail in Newport/Balboa Island.

You can walk out on the Jetty, which is comprised of large boulders but they can be very slippery depending on the time of day. Some people like to walk out to the edge and fish from it. Torrey Pines Gliderport is definitely one of those "you should try this at least once" experiences…read more We came on a beautiful sunny day, and the flight itself was surprisingly calming. It's not like skydiving or bungee jumping where it's all adrenaline and dope. This felt more like borrowing a bird's point of view for 20 minutes. You're just floating along the cliffs, riding the wind, with the ocean on one side and the coastline stretching out below. The views are unreal. You get Black's Beach below! Yes, the clothing-optional one. And then farther down, the multi-million-dollar La Jolla homes that make you question your life choices. LOL. Depending on the wind, the route can vary, but that's part of the charm. My instructor was mostly quiet, which was fine, but I would have appreciated a little more narration or pointing things out. My wife's instructor, on the other hand, was much more lively and even let her steer the glider a couple of times. So your experience may depend a bit on who you fly with. Either way, the flight itself was great, and both instructors got us back safely and smoothly. A small side note: we saw the tipping guide inside the office only after the flight. In retrospect, I think we overtipped - but hey, the instructors seemed happy, so all good. Now, for the things you don't always see in the pretty Yelp reviews. Parking is mostly on an unpaved, bumpy, dusty lot. You can park on pavement along the side streets, but that means parallel parking and a bit of a walk. The waiver process was also a big "whoa." I've done plenty of risky activities before, but this felt like pages of cover-your-butt paperwork, with us signing and initialing almost every single line instead of just signing once and clicking through. Also, be aware that some grassy areas are apparently off-limits. My family and I were taking photos there, not realizing we weren't supposed to be, and we got shooed away pretty hard. I get that there are safety rules, especially around active gliders, but clearer signage would help a lot. And if there was signage, it was difficult to notice with the crowd hanging around Cliff Hanger. And yes, the restroom situation is porta-potties only. On the day we visited, there wasn't even water available for handwashing, so bring sanitizer. Overall, the actual flight was memorable, scenic, and peaceful. The setup around it is a little rough around the edges, but the experience itself is worth doing once, especially on a sunny San Diego day. For the views alone, it's hard to beat floating over the cliffs of Torrey Pines.

Wish I could have one of these parked in my garage to take to the lake! I love riding it in the ocean but I just know the lake would be even better. I'm a country girl sometimes. I love seeing the boats by the harbor! It's like every time you go, the same boats aren't going to be there! This time I seen a super cute old school boat that just needed to be mine! The jet ski goes up to 50mph and it's just smooth sailing and the be amongst bigger boats is exhilarating. However, what made the overall experience poor was the customer service from both the receptionist and the guide, especially the guide. The guide had a very snarky attitude toward my group and another group. His explanation of how to operate the jet ski felt rushed, and when my friend asked a question, he responded rudely and acted like the answer should have been obvious. We simply asked what would happen if the jet ski flipped, since he mentioned that it was a possibility. His response was, "There are instructions on the bottom, don't let them sink." Not to mention he wore a hood the entire time, barely looked up at us, and had his back turned to us for basically the entirety of the 5 min introduction. I get that the talk is repetitive and I don't expect anything grand, but simple eye contact and a little bit of care in it would go a long way. Considering this was my first time on a jet ski, it would have been better to receive a response with more care, urgency, and clear safety guidance, especially when discussing the possibility of flipping a heavy machine in the middle of the bay. Although the views were beautiful and the ride itself was enjoyable I feel like that's to be expected, this is not an experience I would want to return to because of the poor quality of customer service and lack of care from the staff.
