Good food so don't get me wrong. But we were waiting to finish the food we had on our plates before it became cold to start the new batch and one of the ladies came out and dumped it on the grill. Next thing was that we ate all of the food we had before we left and she made us place a tip on the card when we were going to do cash which was whatever until today (Sunday, June 15 2025 at 1:29 am) i got a notification that they had placed a 15 dollar charge on my card for no reason. Keep in mind we ate all the food so I don't know why they would charge in the first place. read more

TL;DR: Poor service, unprofessional comment from staff, and charged $15.95 for a toddler who barely ate. Disappointing experience, especially for families with young kids. When we entered the restaurant, there was no one to greet us, so we pressed the button on the desk for service. No one showed up for about 5 minutes. As noted above, we were charged $15.95 for our 3-year-old, who ate almost nothing. To make matters worse, the waitress made an unprofessional comment, telling my 1-year-old that he was being loud because he "wants to go home." Really?? Throughout the meal, my husband had to flag down a server every time we needed something. While there were only two servers for about nine tables, it always felt like we were inconveniencing them. I understand being short-staffed, and I can't even imagine what it must be like during peak times, given we were there in the early afternoon on a Sunday. On the plus side, I'm adding one star because once we ordered, the meat was delivered quickly--after you got past feeling like a nuisance to the staff, at least. It pains me to leave negative reviews, especially for a mom-and-pop shop I wanted to support, but this experience wasn't family-friendly and was particularly frustrating for us with toddlers. read more

Food and service was fantastic! Even gave us a free cake for desert. So sweet and awesome!

We had a great meal. The servers were super sweet, attentive and food came immediately. Highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back .

Came here on Valentines Day. We expected it to be busy but the system and how they manage the wait is ridiculous. They dont have a sign-in list or some form to show who came first. We all just stood squished in the front til someone even bothered to tell anyone anything. None of us knew how long the wait would be. We even saw some tables still dirty for more than 30 mins. I understand there staffing issue everywhere but I feel as a business u prepare for holidays as such. Meat quailty was nothing special. Which was disappointing. Banchan items were old unfortunately. They did however have many choices to choose from. The tofu stew had no flavor, I had to add a lot of salt. They do have rice paper. Service is not very good. We has to ask for water at least 3x in a 30 mins period. We didn't get very friendly vibes. We almost seemed like we inconvenienced them. I would like to return maybe on a less busy day. Prices are fair they did not offer any drink specials that I'm aware of. The booths and tables are a bit greasy and sticky. read more

I had a guest in town from the Netherlands, so I wanted to treat him to K BBQ. What a MISTAKE. The waitress/server was extremely unfriendly and totally unprofessional. It's like she couldn't be bothered when we asked for another round of banchan or for another round of meat. After two rounds of meat, she handed us the bill but no one at the table requested the check yet. We weren't down eating. So not to make a scene, we paid the bill and left hungry. Never again will I come back here. read more

Top Chef - Brisket - Korean Near Me - Simi Valley, California

Five of us including two children dined last night. The meats were fine but the spicy rice cakes (tthukbokee) was the worst - too watered down, super sugary, and lacked any proper flavor. The server added an automatic 18% gratuity even though we were not informed and the servers did not even help grill the meats but only brought the ordered items. The restroom was unsanitary and the chairs, tables were sticky. read more

Came for a very late lunch on Sunday and there was plenty of seating. We got the cheaper of the 2 AYCE since it had the items all of us were most interested in: Beef Bulgogi, Brisket and boneless Short Ribs. We enjoyed our meal (the meat looked fresh and premium). And the service was good (maybe it helped that it was not a busy time). Will definitely be back when we crave Korean BBQ. Certainly nice to stay in town and not drive to SF Valley. read more

Most authentic KBBQ you will get in Ventura County. For what you pay, it is worth it. AYCE, lots meat options, appetizers included. Depending on time of the day you go will dictate what kind of service you get. If you go during busy hours then you have to keep pressing the bell to get their attention. If it is slow, they are very attentive. Atmosphere is great. Highly recommend Top Chef if eating KBBQ in Ventura County. read more

Oh Top Chef. How I love thee. I know there's a lot of people leaving negative reviews about service and whatnot but it is what it is. Servers are great, food is fresh. READ THIS BEFORE YOU DINE HERE I have always eaten Korean BBQ here. It's nothing special, but it's not bad. However this last time will be the last time I ever come. And it was Valentine's day dinner with me and my girlfriend, lucky me. The food isn't terrible or anything, but the service is horrible. And this last time was no exception. The waitresses are completely disrespectful, and almost made my girlfriend cry as we left the restaurant. We ordered 3 dishes and 2 appetizers and ordered waters. We received two of the three dishes after 10 minutes, but no waters. So I had to ask for the waters again, which is responded with an eye roll. Anyways, after 20 minutes we realized we never received our third dish or our appetizers. I tried to make eye contact with the waitresses, but they just looked the other way. So I had to do what I do not usually like to do, and that's to ring the button. However, from the other room we hear the waitress say "DOESNT HE REALIZE IM F**** BUSY." As we sat there in shock, I was questioning if we should just get up and leave or show attitude back. But that's not all... After 45 minutes at the restaurant, and three food items missing, the lady comes over. It was 8:30 at the time which means we couldn't order anymore. I asked her if we could have the three other things we ordered, which she responded with "The kitchen is closed." Are you kidding me?? We have been sitting here for 45 minutes, trying to get the waitresses to come over. rang the button 3 times actually, and what should be a romantic night was ruined as I wanted to get my moneys worth. Korean BBQ ain't cheap. So after this manipulative attempt at trying to get me to leave the restaurant with empty stomaches, I said I am not leaving until I get the rest of my food. And so with a heavy eye roll and a heavy sigh, she went back in the kitchen to make the order. If you want the worst service in your life, and maybe your girlfriend to cry, and to leave with a bad taste in your mouth: come here! If not, STAY AWAY! read more

Love this place and there's a reason it's crazy busy ALL the time. Amazing quality meats, love the sides(japchae, corn cheese, pancake, all amazing) salad is solid. We came in at 5 on a Monday. We were served right away. We had beef bulgogi and spicy chicken bulgogi. Large portions, including rice and glass noodles and salad. Great flavor, and yummy sides of cucumber, asparagus, bean sprouts and kimchi. The restaurant is clean, simple decor, and very spacious. Give it a try! read more

This is our local spot for KBBQ. The staff are so friendly and remember us each time. Great service as well.

I was looking for a good Korean bbq place and this place looks really good. The prices were good and the food was good. The what make this place a 1 star is the service. First when asking for items on the menu the servers look bothered and make you feel like you're bothering them. Plus I hate chasing down the server for more sides and meat. Second what really turns me off about this place and will not be returning or recommending it. Is the fact when I paid the bill the server walks away opened the little book with the receipt and runs back to the table and state that the tip was not included and needed to leave a tip. I'm more of a cash tipper but I felt that was very rude and disrespectful. So if you're looking for a Korean bbq place the food is good but the service is terrible and if you don't leave a tip they will make sure everybody knows about it. read more

Sooo good. My Korean friend recommended this place and he was not wrong. The quality of the meat was top notch. Nice marbling! Here is what we ordered: Jowl- tasty, not chewy -5/5 Brisket- nice marbling through out so it wasn't dry- 5/5 Beef Belly- fattier than brisket. So tender. 5/5 Kalbi- kids loved it. No bones- 5/5 Dumpling- 5/5- this was nice and crunchy. They make it in house. Good balance of flavor and proportion. Glad that we came out here. Service was good too. The two waitress were very nice. This will be our new kbbq moving forward! read more

Wow, never thought it could happen, not in my lifetime least ways. The entire family has just one restaurant at this time which nobody objects to and it's TOP CHEF KOREAN BBQ! Our son is a picky eater and usually has something to object to at many of our local places, but not Top Chef; he actually enjoys coming here. Beginning from the time you are seated at your table for AYCE BBQ to the end when it's time to roll yourself out, they treat you like family here. The serving folks are attentive too, they bring out the sides and beverages than return shortly with big plates of various meats for you to cook right in front of all those present; talk about fresh and tasty. From their well marbled brisket meat, Beef Bulgogi, to their amazing marinated beef short ribs and the spicy pork Bulgogi, it's all so good that a favorite meat is difficult to decide upon. When I'm not doing Keto, the gyoza dumplings and the tempura are also crowd pleasers. My recommendation? Come hungry and get ready to feast! Our entire family is a fan of this restaurant. read more

I've been going here for years, and it's SO much better than Gen. Friends don't let their friends go to Gen, they go here. Real Korean authenticity here, and everything is homemade. Their kimchi is often homemade too! Support local, not chains, and this is as local as it gets. Best KKBQ this side of LA, hands down. The owner has mentioned how she goes shopping for ingredients in Koreatown, and it shows. Meat is very fresh, the sides are immaculate, and top quality brisket sauce. I'd give it 6 stars if I could, this has been my go to KKBQ place for years. 11/10 would recommend to everyone. read more

My friends and Visited for KBBQ, and while the meat was okay, the customer service really dampened the experience. Felt rushed by the staff, and their attitude made it uncomfortable to even ask for more items. A customer should never feel like a bother, but unfortunately, that's exactly how I felt. Also to add more, I had plenty meat on my plate still and she gave me the check right away so i felt super rush. They seem to hate their job. Act super bossy around costumer. Please respect all the costumer . read more

Terrible service. Service was slow, workers were not pleasant. Food is good if you get it. Got seated fast, waited so long for them to take order, (maximum order 3 plates at a time) they brought out 2. And we have to flag them down to get more, when asked for more lady would seem annoyed, had to asked for things about 3 - 4 times until we actually got it. A table behind us waited too long for food they got up and left, the workers took the water from that table and gave it to another table that was about to be seated. I have been here multiple times and it's the same kind of service, if you're Korean you get treated much better, they bring out huge portions and bring everything out at once, faster than other tables waiting. If you're not, you unfortunately have to wait and constantly call them to get anything. We didn't even get our waters refilled or have a bottle at our table the entire time. read more

Top Chef occupies the same space as the fabulous, competent, high quality, culinarily well executed, Banchan intensive, former KalbeQ. The high wooden screens separating the foyer from the main dining still has that appellation carved into the wood. Would it be that Top Chef have kept up the high standards of KalbeQ, but as stated by Yelper Rob B., "Top Chef could not maintain that high standard at $20 a pop for ayce since it would be a money losing proposition." Just as it was for KalbeQ since it went under in less than 2 years of its existence. The $20 ayce Korean Bbq at Top Chef is still good. It can hold itself comfortably among other middling ayce restaurants even in Koreatown DTLA. The good thing is those living in Simi Valley won't have to drive 40 miles and possibly up to 2 hours in heavy traffic. Had their Bul Gogi, beef & Bul Galbi, rib meat marinated in sweet soy sauce; thinly sliced beef brisket; spicy chicken & spicy pork in red pepper spicy gochujang paste; pork belly in curry sauce; pork belly w/ dry basil leaf. All were good. Banchan side dishes: Chapchae: translucent thicker noodles sautéed with white onions, soy sauce, roasted sesame oil for nutty, toasty aromatics. Won Bok/nappa cabbage Kimchi inflected red w/ red chile peppers, fermented salty earthy sourness. Oi Kimchi is cucumber w/ red chile pepper marinade, but not as intensely fermented. There is a more fresh, light taste compared to the Won Bok Kimchi. What may be a firmer, fried Tofu skin that is then simmered in sweet sweet soy sauce. Light salad of par boiled bean sprouts, diced carrots, green onions. Fibrous Gobo- root braised in sweet soy sauce. Mixed green salad in light soy sauce, lemon juice. Large green lettuce leaves to wrap up meats. We ate til we could eat no more. Good decent Korean Bbq that hits most of the marks. Service is good but harried. Not meaning to, with so many customers & so many orders, it is easy for them to get distracted & forget your requests. 3+ Yelp stars. read more

Service was horrible, the server never refilled our drinks, we asked for rice paper three times and never received it.
