The store is compact, logically laid out, and--miracle of miracles--they actually stock the things regular homeowners need on a random Saturday afternoon. Specialty screws? Check. Odd-sized plumbing fittings? Got 'em. That weird little part for a 20-year-old lawn mower? Yep, right there on the shelf. What really sets Ace apart, though, is the customer service. These folks act like they genuinely want to help you finish your project. I've had employees walk me straight to the exact item, offer advice on the best product for my specific job, and even suggest clever workarounds when I was trying to MacGyver something together on a budget. No paging someone over the intercom, no "that's not my department," just real, enthusiastic help from people who seem to enjoy what they do. I mentioned that I needed the battery replaced. They immediately took my key fob, opened it, saw the battery that needed to be replaced, got the battery, and replaced it. I bought the battery for a little under 6 dollars. I also got 4 AA batteries for about 7 dollars (Durucel brand). While the batteries were a bit expensive, it was the excellent service in why I will definitely recommend and come back to this store. Even though I didn't get to see the other items they had, I just needed the batteries and thanks to them, I was in an out within 5 minutes. They are indeed the place with helpful hardware folks! He was new and needed assistance from his co-worker Tish at the paint counter. She was not happy to help. She made me wait while she finished preparing the stores employee schedule. I was the only customer inside of the store. She then disappeared into the back room for a long time before she decided to help. I was always taught to take care of the customer in front of me first. I later learned that the management of this store does not think they need to worry about corporate customer service protocols because they are a franchised store.
