It was well-stocked and the staff here were friendly and professional, especially for an early Saturday morning. The prices were competitively situated and they had a nice selection of items you might need around the house. They had everything from air filters to grills and even Jerky and spices. 5 Star update for an expanded store and great service! Whenever I need something for the home or lawn, I'd much rather spend my money at this small Ace versus a huge Home Depot. As soon as I walk in, I'm always greeted and offered help finding whatever I need. Though you may think it's small from the outside, they carry an incredible amount of products and once you're inside, it's much larger than you'd think since the expansion. My go-to neighborhood hardware store! 5 stars for friendly, helpful staff that answer all my questions when I attempt low-lift home projects that I *think* I can manage on my own. I don't consider myself to be a handy person, but every once in awhile I feel inspired lol. I recently needed to have key copies made and also decided to do a hole patching job throughout my house to help improve the aesthetics and cover up some old holes that the previous renters had left behind. They helped me pick out everything I needed to get the job done and even did paint color matching with a piece of chipped wall I brought in. I wanted to post about a great experience I had at this store with NATHANIEL, he is a great employee and went out of his way to help me and was not in a hurry like the employees at Home Depot, he took his time and was extremely helpful with information on lawn mowers when they did not have anything to fit my needs he even had me to bring in mine (which wouldn't start) but was unable to repair but he tried very hard to do so. I live within a mile from this store and always go there first and if they don't have what I need of course I have to go elsewhere. I went in with the intention of only purchasing a great scraper for my Big Green Egg. I saw that Rockwood lump coal was on sale, so I picked up a bag of that. I also had the intention of purchasing a cookbook. I get to the register, and I experienced some sticker shock. All the items that I selected, were placed in the wrong area, so the prices displayed was not what they rang up at. I did not buy the book for $25, when Barnes and Noble's has it for $15. I did show the young lady where additional books were, placed is a slot for $1499 for something else. And I think what really upsets me, is that no attempt for any concession for their mistake was made. I guess I'll have to pay closer attention next time. I only purchased my grill scraper, and the bag of coal that was on sale. I left everything else. read more

Was shopping for a gas grill for my son and his wife as a house-warming present. Purchased it 2 weeks ago and we've been waiting to move is before having it delivered. Stopped in to the store and was treated like an old friend, not just a customer. The grill was assembled, filled with propane and ready to be delivered the next day. The grill was delivered on time, moved into the back yard, tank hooked up and test-fired by extremely friendly and knowledgable fella named John. All is well and I will be using Ace on E. Nice store and the employees in there are usually very helpful. But today's visit was disappointing. An item was listed for a lower price than it rang up for so the lady asked for a price check, her coworker checked and confirmed the price I stated was listed. She then got seemingly annoyed and asked him to check that the numbers on the price tag to make sure it was the right one. Once he realized it was wrong also she happily told me the higher price. It's not the item being priced wrong that was upsetting but the way she acted about the situation, never even offered an apology or explanation for why it was listed differently. I sat quietly the whole time but I felt very uncomfortable over this, almost like she thought we moved the tags around to try to get a lower price? read more

My son in-law recommended this Ace store and he was so on spot! I had an issue with a rocking toilet and instead of calling an expensive plumber, I wanted to try to fix it myself. Immediately I was greeted by by a very pleasant gentleman, David. He led me to some inexpensive plastic shimmies and Kwick Seal and now I'm all set. Because sometimes you just need a c-clamp or some potting soil or nails or paint or adirondack chairs or... well, upon reviewing the things I've bought there in the last month, they probably have *almost* everything the big boxes have yet are a lot closer to downtown. Super helpful staff too, that is happy to field my questions from recommending the best rope to tie a mattress to the top of my SUV or what size stakes are best for a queen palm. Also this new location is conveniently right next to Dechoes, making for some nice synergies when I wanna get all my Pinterest-inspired DIY-and-fashion shopping done in one stop. read more

It is nice to have a neighborhood hardware store nearby. The Ace Hardware store at Curry Ford and Conway is closer to where I live. It is also larger than the Colonial Ace Hardware at the Coytown Plaza. But this location is convenient for when I am shopping at the Colonial Plaza Marketplace across the street. No matter which Ace Hardware store I have been to, service is always friendly and helpful. Including this location. And I always find what I am looking for. Such as the air conditioning filter I bought here on Saturday afternoon. An Ace Hardware salesperson helped me get the filter from the top shelf as soon as he was done with another customer. I was asked if there was anything else that I needed and thanked for shopping here. The only qualm I have with this Ace Hardware is that the aisles are narrow. So if you are looking for something, say an air conditioning filter, and you have a salesperson assisting a customer looking for paint/paint supplies, it makes for a tight fit. Especially when you turn around and someone is constantly in your space. The inventory, however, is fantastic. So if you are doing home repair, landscaping, painting the house, or even looking to buy a outdoor grill for cooking out on the patio, this Colonial Ace Hardware should have it. read more

I've always liked the customer service at this Ace. It is/was fairly small but it's currently expanding and will have a grand opening in a couple of weeks. A great local, neighborhood hardware store that solves pretty much all your needs when you aren't looking for a Home Depot super store. It's easily accessible, right on Colonial at Bumby, across from Colonial Plaza. It always has parking and it's only a few steps from the door (in this time of summer rainstorms!). The worst customer service! Very rude and do not care about the customer. I called to ask if I could bring something back within 30 mins. of buying it and was told to bring it back. When I did, I was told I cannot bring it back. I called a couple weeks later to ask if they carry something and was told they're too busy to check and they have a very long line and all associates are too busy. I love hardware stores I don't know why, I guess it just brings out my imagination and I think of all of the home improvement projects I can start and never finish. What I like about this ACE is that it's small, but mighty. Everything you need is here. It's also near my house. Obviously not as large expansive as a HD or Lowes..and that is a plus to me. HD is just too large and I am overwhelmed. Millers in W.P (the woman's hardware store, lol) is still my number 1, and Orchard has left town so ACE is my number 2 hardware store now! You need a specific house-maintenance item real quick and Home Depot is a little too far away? Come here! They will give you one-on-one attention as soon as you come through the door. But do you lack a complete list and are somewhat unsure of what you need until you see it? Are you not in the mood to talk to people? -- DON'T come here!!! There is no such thing as 'browsing' at this location. The employees will always be a few feet behind you going "are you sure you don't need help finding anything?". It's a bit annoying when you have a coupon that requires a minimum purchase amount and you just want to analyze the window cleaners on your own terms. Also, the rewards program is pretty cool. They always send you coupons for $5 off or a free item. Again, good luck browsing around... They gave me an extremely handy wall calendar not too long ago when I bought some paint. The interior paint came out wonderfully, btw. In addition to the overly attentive staff, the relationship between the manager and the cashiers is a little questionable. I always feel uncomfortable during their interactions and I never see the same cashier twice. :-/ read more

Assuming you aren't buying appliances or doing massive installations, you are probably just getting small items for all the responsibilities that come with home ownership. Ace almost always has what you need (wow, I sound like a commercial!) There is always somebody waiting to help you, unlike H.D. where, depending on the day, it could take forever to find help, if you find it at all. I'm giving this four stars simply for convenience and product quality. Now when it comes to customer service, it's really not that bad. But every time me and my boyfriend go to find something we need, the employees tend to hover over us while telling their opinion on every product we pick. The last guy we had help us basically told me to not pick what I was buying because there was better product because he was a roofer for 40 years. I get it, but I pick products based on my own trial and error, like most people. And without us even asking for help they are breathing down my neck about everything they have. Sometimes TOO MUCH service is just that, too much. Besides that, I really enjoy the fact that we have a hardware store close to our house now. Plus they have a nice inventory. read more

When I heard an ACE location was opening near my house. I was absolutely thrilled! I personally dread having to go to the big box hardware stores to try to find materials I need and someone to assist me. Since I bought my 1950's house last year, I have had to do a LOT of improvements and repairs. I have definitely been to Ace 7 times in one day, and each time the staff was amazing. They are easily accessible and have a wide range of knowledge to help guide you with any project you wish to undertake. They have spent up to half an hour talking to me as I bounced my ideas off them. If you are thinking of starting or completing a project, you need to visit your local ace. While the colonialtown location is my neighborhood store, every location I have visited has been of equal caliber. I would suggest taking pictures of the materials and location of your project so the employees will have some evidence to look at to help you get what you need to get the job done. read more

I came to the store to get a propane tank refilled. There were spotty showers in the area so the staff wasn't sure if it could be done because the propane refill is done outside. The lady at the register was very kind and radio'd to see if anyone was willing to fill the tank after I convinced her it was done raining. Mike, the store manager, offered to fill the tank himself. Go figure, it started raining about as soon as he walked outside! Mike stayed positive and refilled the tank in the rain. That is some Great Customer Service! Brought a troublesome lock in to get re-keyed and had the pleasure of spending a bit of time in the store and meeting the employees. Each and every person working here is incredibly friendly and shows they care about your needs and experience in their store. Not one person that walked through the front door came in without a warm welcome. Everyone working was quick to offer a hand in finding what people needed, but if help wasn't required, they also didn't "hover" as some stores do. This store is a shining example of the difference between a local store and one of those big box behemoths. Save yourself time and money - do not get your screen repair done here! I brought in a screen to have repaired. It was not cheap but worth it if it solved the problem. It did not. Size was matched properly, corner tab broke right away and top was bent. If you have a screen that needs repair, please just call someone out to fix it rather than bringing it here. Today I went to a big-box store with the parts of an outdoor leaking faucet -- let's just say the service was less there stellar as they basically brushed me off. That's when I decided to hit up the Colonial Ace Hardware just down the street. Right away when walking through the door the cashier asked how they could help. The knowledgeable staff then worked with me to find a solution. That meant test fitting a few washers and describing how to complete the repair. Time and time again Ace Hardware provides excellent service. Yeah it might be 10% more then the big box store down the street, but it's worth it. This Ace Hardware is in a great location, and has easy access from two different streets however the parking can be a little tight during busier hours of the day. The staff here is amazing and very attentive and courteous. Most recent visit was to have a key made. I didn't have to wait at all and was helped immediately with a smile.
