I was already obsessed with University Ace, but my latest experience took me over the top. I ordered a new keyfob to be programmed after buying a newer used car that only came 1 key. Once i received notification from Ace that the keyfob came in, I returned this morning at 7 AM to pick it up and get it programmed. Upon trying to program it, the Technician, Leslie, was unable to get the car out of 'programming' mode for some reason. After 1.5 hours of her multiple attempts and getting back up from her Manager, even disconnecting/reconnecting the car battery, they committed to calling the manufacturer and offered to take me to work why they worked on it. I get a call mid morning that she removed and took the battery to an auto parts store to be tested where it was found to be bad/dead. She left it for 1-2 hours to see if it could be charged and was planning to return, reinstall, and try programming the keyfob again. She returned to the auto parts store to pick up the charged battery and found it was bad. She immediately called me to let me know the findings and then offered, if I wanted, to pick up a new battery, install it, and reprogram the keyfob again. I just received a call from Leslie that my car is ready with new working battery and two working keyfobs. Customer service doesn't get any better then this. . . and THIS is why University Ace Hardware is my favorite store of all time!!! Leslie is a stellar employee that Ace should be very proud of . . . I certainly hope they treat her right!

I brought the set back in original packaging, no damage, and my original receipt but I was told that I couldn't return it because it was "used." What made this experience so frustrating was how rude the employee at the register was. I left feeling like I wasn't being treated fairly. Later in the day, my father returned with the exact packaging and the exact same receipt. They accepted the return without any issue and were friendly to him. Based on how differently we were treated while under the same circumstances, I was left feeling like I was judged differently only because I was a younger customer. Whether that was intentional or not, that's how the entire experience came across. I expected consistent customer service for everyone and unfortunately, that wasn't my experience.

The new car key fob was $200 less here than when I called the dealership for a quote. They had to special order my key fob but it came in within 5 days. They called me to pick it up and bring my car. They programmed the key fob to my car within 20 minutes. The service was fast and I'm happy with my new car key fob.

They are closed on Sunday and close at 5PM during the week. That doesn't leave much time to pick up paint supplies if you are the average working person. Why they close when most customers would come in I do not know. Its places like this that block Home Depot and the other big box stores from opening. They wonder why we want big box stores? So now I have to adjust my schedule and put off work that I have. Hire some cheap labor to man the store on the weekend if you don't want to. work.

I was asking what I needed to know to match up some outdated Color Wheel (purchased by S-W just FYI... so they SHOULD be the experts on Color Wheel paint, right?) paint products as best as possible. They told me it wouldn't match identically because time has faded the other product. I stated that I understood that. They stressed it over and over. I explained that I understood. You can't really say anything bad about their service because it was very polite and done with a smile, but it was mind-blowingly tedious and it was like pulling teeth to get a proper answer. I was asking what kind of information they needed from me other than the color number and name, what I should look for in the old info and I kept getting "that won't match exactly because there are thousands of colors of paint in each catalog that S-W keeps." Yes. I get it. How can I assure that I get to the closest of the original colors. Can I give you the number and the name? "We don't stock out of date colors here. It won't match exactly because.." I understand. But I can give you the name/number and you can give me the S-W version and I can know you've fully warned me that it won't match exactly, but knowing that I can paint the small test piece I want to see how badly it's different? "It won't match exactly because..." Yes. I understand. I did find out they don't sell anything smaller than a quart. It was the human interaction equivalent of getting stuck in a phone menu loop with a computer. I wound up walking out without any knowledge of what I needed to provide or do. My wife shot an email to S-W from her phone and they replied within a day with exactly what I needed to do. However, by that time, I had gone to Home Depot and within ONE MINUTE the guy was making me a $3 sample size of Behr paint that would match the out-of-date Color Wheel paint. He also warned me (BUT ONLY ONCE) that it might not exactly match old paint and to be careful where I tested it. I told him that I understood and he wished me a good day. I walked out with my paint and a smile. The places we tested covering up a few scuffs are perfect.

I stopped in here to get a gallon to match the paint our builders used on the house. It was time to do a little touch up work. I was unable to obtain a quarter sized piece to match as the paint really didn't come off the wall that well. They did their best but it may have been a touch too glossy. So if you go for a color match, make sure you have the right size. I'm not sure if they have a guarantee or not. The paint does go on well with good coverage on the first coat. The staff is pretty helpful, they have lots of accessories for your needs. Beware of their prices though.
