I had already moved my vehicles out of my long driveway so the forklift would not have an issue placing them in the yard near my garage door. Imagine my surprise when (3) bulk bags plus delivery at $270.60 turned out to be (3) 1/2 CF bags of gravel all alone on a single pallet!!! Those tiny bags looked all alone and confused! I can only imagine what the supervisor must have thought when he/she/they/them signed off on the delivery, or, what the driver thought to have to deliver such an order. Maybe he thought I was a rich, invalid or an old man, or a wheelchair-bound old lady...who knows. Was he or she smoking crack this morning? So after speaking with the AI agent on the phone and getting through to a human after 15-minutes of it hallucinating (or smoking Internet crack), I finally got a human, explained the above, and waited 15 minutes on hold while she sorted it all out. She said the earliest the correct order could be delivered was Monday. When asked for an explanation? "The only thing they told me was there was a mixup on the size." Seriously? You think? Stay in school boys and girls and graduate. But if you don't worry, if you don't, there will always be a company like BLowes that will hire you for a management position!!!

I know that Ace Hardware tries to portray itself as a local and friendly neighborhood hardware store, but it is in fact no different from a Home Depot and/or a Lowe's, just a smaller store. There is nothing wrong with that, in fact, it might be easier. I can tell you from personal experience, it is easy to get lost in the aisles of one of those huge mega-hardware stores. Anyway, while in the store, no one asked if I needed assistance and I did see a gentleman ask for assistance to be kind of arrogant in his reply that he was helping someone on the phone and would get to him when he could and that the customer had to wait. Let me be clear, I can understand that people are busy, but a little politeness can go a long way. The store's location is convenient, however Home Depot and Lowe's are also pretty convenient. I did find it a bit humorous that they sold live bait. All in all, I would prefer heading to either Home Depot or Lowe's.

I was asking what I needed to know to match up some outdated Color Wheel (purchased by S-W just FYI... so they SHOULD be the experts on Color Wheel paint, right?) paint products as best as possible. They told me it wouldn't match identically because time has faded the other product. I stated that I understood that. They stressed it over and over. I explained that I understood. You can't really say anything bad about their service because it was very polite and done with a smile, but it was mind-blowingly tedious and it was like pulling teeth to get a proper answer. I was asking what kind of information they needed from me other than the color number and name, what I should look for in the old info and I kept getting "that won't match exactly because there are thousands of colors of paint in each catalog that S-W keeps." Yes. I get it. How can I assure that I get to the closest of the original colors. Can I give you the number and the name? "We don't stock out of date colors here. It won't match exactly because.." I understand. But I can give you the name/number and you can give me the S-W version and I can know you've fully warned me that it won't match exactly, but knowing that I can paint the small test piece I want to see how badly it's different? "It won't match exactly because..." Yes. I understand. I did find out they don't sell anything smaller than a quart. It was the human interaction equivalent of getting stuck in a phone menu loop with a computer. I wound up walking out without any knowledge of what I needed to provide or do. My wife shot an email to S-W from her phone and they replied within a day with exactly what I needed to do. However, by that time, I had gone to Home Depot and within ONE MINUTE the guy was making me a $3 sample size of Behr paint that would match the out-of-date Color Wheel paint. He also warned me (BUT ONLY ONCE) that it might not exactly match old paint and to be careful where I tested it. I told him that I understood and he wished me a good day. I walked out with my paint and a smile. The places we tested covering up a few scuffs are perfect.

Grace, the hard working young lady, put in the water heater order for me a week ago. HD estimated ready for pick up on 11 to 14 Nov. I scheduled a vendor to install it on 15 Nov. The item didn't arrive to the store until the morning of 15 Nov, so I had to reschedule the installation until next week. We came to the store. There was a long waiting line at pick up/return desk, and poor Grace was there by herself. Several teammates walked in and out that counter. The phone never stopped ringing. Nobody seemed caring, for Grace or any customers who were in the line. The guy in front of me who was so upset went to the other counter to find a manager. He couldn't find one, and he returned to tell me that 5 other people were waiting there, too. After 20 minutes, a man appearing to be a Manager stopped by. We let him know. He started calling for help. Then the fire alarm went off. The staff didn't know what to do. Customers found their way to outside. A staff told us to stay away from the front door. 6 to 8 minutes or so went by. Finally the alarm was turned off. We came back in. It took another 15 minutes for the guy who agreed to go pull the item for us to get it to us. Don't get me wrong, Grace did everything she possibly could. But 45 minutes to pick up an item ordered online after HD informed me ready to pick up. Do we know how many things in this world can happen within 45 minutes? We can't help seeing AI robots taking care of customer services. Grace' boss should switch job with her. She cares.
