This particular Ace Hardware is at the corner of East Colonial Drive (Highway 50) and Avalon Parkway by the Aldi, Wendy's, Dunkin' and other businesses. I know that Ace Hardware tries to portray itself as a local and friendly neighborhood hardware store, but it is in fact no different from a Home Depot and/or a Lowe's, just a smaller store. There is nothing wrong with that, in fact, it might be easier. I can tell you from personal experience, it is easy to get lost in the aisles of one of those huge mega-hardware stores. Anyway, while in the store, no one asked if I needed assistance and I did see a gentleman ask for assistance to be kind of arrogant in his reply that he was helping someone on the phone and would get to him when he could and that the customer had to wait. Let me be clear, I can understand that people are busy, but a little politeness can go a long way. The store's location is convenient, however Home Depot and Lowe's are also pretty convenient. I did find it a bit humorous that they sold live bait. All in all, I would prefer heading to either Home Depot or Lowe's. read more

Every person I've talked to and dealt with there has been great for the past 3 years I've been going. Aries has always been helpful. The biggest shoutout goes to Gio. Whatever project I'm working on (even if I have no idea what I'm doing), he's always patiently helped me and pointed me in the right direction. I always end up getting it done. It's nice to have a hardware store close by. With the big box stores like Lowe's and Home Depot stealing the market, it's awesome that a place like Ace can exist. They pack a lot of choices into this store, which is a fraction of the size of the other places. Their ACE rewards program is something to be a part of. They send coupons for $5 off $20 fairly regularly. The caveat is the items being purchased can't be on sale, or be a certain brand (think Macy's and Bed Bath and Beyond coupon restrictions). They close earlier than the other stores, so if you're working later in the evening, you may miss your opportunity to get what you need. For the most part, they have whatever you may be missing to complete a small or large project. If you have a question, the staff is always helpful as well. They are familiar with fixing things and which product you may need. read more

Completely different experience from big box stores. In something they have more and in others less of a selection for hardware parts. But the service and knowledge can't be compared. This is another great Ace Hardware. The staff is very helpful, making sure you get what you need and nothing you don't. They often get overlooked, DIY'rs will go to the other box stores. Ace will surprise you with what they have and the service is second to none. The best of both worlds, small town small business service backed with national chain power. My first purchase here was 2 Stihl products. They made sure I knew everything needed to operate safely. Oh, they service Stihl and small engines! They have many Stihl parts on hand! I got an ignition coil for my 20 y/o Stihl trimmer for $35, in stock!!!! They even gave me the specs to adjust the gap! read more

I try to support this local hardware store but they are making it more and more difficult to do so, but I think I've reached the point where it is simply not worth it anymore. Just today, I needed one item to finish a project I was working on. Knowing that ace closes at 7 and it was 645 I called ahead notifying the store that I was 10 minutes away to be sure that they would still be open when I arrived just before close. They told me it was no problem and that they would serve me when I arrived. When I arrived at 6:57, the door was locked and I was greeted by a man telling me to "go away" because they were closed. I tried pleading my case that I had just called and they told me I was okay to stop by but he wanted no parts of that. I understand this is an edge case and that they were nearly closed, but that doesn't change the fact I was there before closing time and the workers were simply too lazy to allow me to get my one item and leave. Not the friendly neighborhood place they claim it to be. It's safe to say that I'll be taking my business elsewhere and directing others to do the same as this place serves no better purpose than any big store. This is NOT a "neighborhood" ace hardware as they advertise, just a smaller Home Depot with less products and higher prices. read more

This ACE refuses to cut blank keys you bring in that we're not purchased at their store per "managers policy" even though they acknowledge this is a service provided at other ACE Hardware stores across the U.S. for a small fee. Unfortunately, I had to return a hose I had purchased at ACE a few years ago. It came with a lifetime warranty, so exchanging it was easy. I didn't have a receipt; and, my phone number changed two times since I made the purchase, so I signed up for ACE rewards with my new number. This will make tracking purchases easier in the future. The store is well stocked, is staffed with helpful and friendly folks; and, I believe the owners are involved in the day-to-day operations. Accessibility from Colonial is easy; but, navigating the parking lot is a bit of a chore. This was made worse by an event going on at the end of the lot. However, I was able to find parking and was able to make the exchange very quickly. read more

I usually go to ACE and love the experience and the customer services. As the jingle says is the place for hardware folks but there was an employee who has curly hair that was so inattentive to my needs and questions. Zero customer service or support. I was really confused and she was even up front and saw me enter and look confused. I hope she was just having an off day but hopefully the customer service can improve. read more

An associate today argued with me that I didn't buy a particular circuit breaker there when I in fact bought 2 of them from that location. He didn't even suggest that maybe I bought a different amperage but just flat out told me "you didn't get it from here". I went in to by some Stihl products today and the associate helping me, could not have been more helpful. They filled my FC-56 & BG 50 up with gas and should me how to operate. The most impressionable experience I've had was when I had 60 copies of a key cut, the associate that was helping me informed the manager and within moments they were both working to take care of my needs. Great smaller option if you live in East Orlando, Avalon, or Bithlo! I've been here several times whenever I'm doing work on the house. Each time, they've either had what I needed, or given me the advice I needed to solve the problem. Sure, they don't carry everything the big dog stores have, but just about any "common" thing, they'll most likely have it! Plus they have great employees working the floor who actually have experience. In one instance, the man who helped me once with some screws has been making cabinets for over 50 years! He impressed me when he instantly recognized it as a European furniture screw - something they unfortunately aren't going to carry. This expertise goes much further than simply trying to carry everything in one store. Prices here are comparable to any other place. If you live in the area and you just need some basic supplies, avoid the frustrating traffic to go out to the big box stores in Waterford and come here instead. read more

Went into the store after loyally shopping here since it open. Will accused me of lying of when I purchased equipment and then when I spoke with store manager he stated that they don't sell the best products and that it was my fault it was damaged because I let an outdoor spotlight get wet. I guess I am supposed to unplug the spotlight when it rains and bring it inside. I will be shopping at Lowe's or Home Depot from now on since in the managers words they don't carry the best products and outdoor products should get wet in florida weather! read more

This location is nice when you need to make a quick run to the hardware store. The store employees take you to where the product is and help you make a selection. They have a nice selection of bird feed but I find their selection a little pricey. They usually greet you as you enter and rarely have a long wait in line. read more

I do love the place overall. The staff is friendly and always helpful. The only thing that drives me crazy some times are the hours. Closing at 7 or 7:30 is just too early. I find myself showing up at their doors after hours all the time because I forget how early they close.
