    Entrance on Tanner
    Joe S.

This nursery on Tanner Rd. on the far east side of Orlando is bigger than it looks. I was thinking I was entering a small neighborhood nursery with a few plants strewn around, but drove into a pretty large piece of land with lots of different kinds of plants and flowers. From 50 (E. Colonial), after turning onto Tanner Rd. (there's no light) heading north, it's about 3/4 mile on your left. If you hit 420, you've gone too far. (420 is also Lake Picket Rd.) There's a small sign that you could easily miss. Just head down the driveway and park by the basketball hoop. There were all kinds of different plants and the girl working has some pretty good knowledge of what plants need sun when, and when they bloom, and what they look like when not blooming, and how much water they need/don't need, and whatever else about plants. The staff is minimal and it's probably helpful if you know a little about plants yourself. It's hard to find the signs of what things are so if you don't know the difference between a crepe myrtle and a bougainvillea, you may need someone to assist. The one plant I knew going in was a snap dragon (I didn't see any), but then I learned about the shrimp plant (Justicia brandegeeana) which has flowers that look like delicious shrimp on top of a salad. (I may have been hungry when I went here). They do deliver but they said the cost would vary based on what you get delivered. They had mulch as well, but I only saw one kind. If you're in need of some new plants for your landscaping need, it's worth a stop if you can get here during their hours. They list them on the sign as M-F 8a-4p and Sat 10a-5p (Closed Sunday)

I was particularly impressed by the two orders of the Philodendron Atabapoense. They were both ~17" tall with Lots of leaves. I'm pretty certain that each had a 12" leaf in a 4" pot. Unreal In addition the Stunning healthy plants, I was just as impressed by the care that went into wrapping & packaging. It was more than a consumer would ever expect. I order many plants online & either plants were crushed, a leaf/stem broken, an over-abundance of soil in the box (which makes it very messy); or.. you need a battle axe to unwrap the plant. But not this shop. Every step of packaging was handled with care. I was incredibly impressed. Corrugated cardboard protected the plant, a white grow bag material covered each individually, and fluffy cotton wrapped around the soil. Not only were the plants Large & Healthy, beautifully wrapped (by Taylor - Thank Youuuu!!!) Now let's talk about Leveling Up the game. I was surprised to see another Gift- a Story on your individual plant via a QR code! What?! . Can we talk about "Attention to Detail & elevating the Experience?". I feel as though I've Adopted plants & couldn't be Happier as a new Mom! It was my first order, but won't be the last. This shop did an Outstanding Job! Bravo,.. BRAVO!!!!! Take a Bow Gabriella staff!!! TAKE A BOW!

Absolutely couldn't be happier! Healthy, large vigorous plants at a reasonable price, but what really set them apart was the careful packing. One Drosera even had thread - thin flower spikes, which are intact. Personal email contact (not just canned text) to be sure they were shipped before weather dropped below freezing was especially appreciated. Points for Sarah!

Emerald Island Garden Center is a fantastic garden center. My mother and I visited Emerald Island…read morebecause I was searching for a succulent to give as a gift. My mother was looking for plant pots for her garden. I'm so thankful that we came here because I found a beautiful tiny succulent plant and Cary, who was working here today was VERY knowledgeable about how to care for the plants there, including the succulent that we purchased, along with an air plant that we purchased. I've cared for succulents before and I still learned a lot about caring for succulents. Not to mention I learned how to properly care for my air plant. My mom purchased two plants for herself as well and she was told how to care for them by Cary. I also want to talk about the inside store here, it has so many beautiful plants to purchase and they also sell gifts to buy, such as beautiful jewelry. I also found out that they are working towards opening their cafe again here. This is such an amazing place, and to top it off they have Cary, who is an amazing person, working here. He was so kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend going to Emerald Island Garden Center for all of your gardening and landscaping needs.
