When we couldn't afford an add-on for the bid, they decided to surprise us by generously throw it in for us free of charge anyway. They are a couple of good Christian guys who actually care about people, care about their work, and care about reflecting God's love. In the past, we have had challenges with contractors cutting corners on quality, taking way longer than expected and continually raising the price. Working with the Gentry's was the opposite of our past horror stories. They finished when they said they would, they ensured it looked excellent and they were totally honest and upfront about the price. I still had two other company's scheduled to discuss the work, one of them never showed after a few reschedules and the other was hard sell wanting to do a complete make over when I only wanted my Cabinets refaced. But they weren't the reason I chose to go with Five Star, Rick was. From our first meeting he was a genuine gentleman, listened to what I was wanting, gave me a few suggestions, which I am very thankful for and chose to do, but never any pressure sales. Selling my condo so had to update both kitchen, bath and separate vanity cabinets and countertops…read more I went to all the usual companies for quotes (Sanyuan, GS, A1, Pius etc) and made a crazy spreadsheet comparing them. 1st Ave came in second cheapest (GS was the cheapest). I decided to go with 1st Ave because they were very responsive on the phone and email, and they were able to do the work faster than GS. I also really liked that the people at 1st Ave weren't pushy like at they were at some of the other companies. They came though with all they promised to do - called me when they were on the way to the job site, installed everything so all cabinets and drawers lined up and worked flawlessly, cut the quartz offsite and came back to install countertops, and cleaned up after themselves. I have been recommending them to friends and neighbours, and I would most definitely use them again.

Not only did Wil replace my old bathroom vanity and splash tiles, he took the time to go to the local store and help me buy the specific parts need to complete the plumbing for the vanity. The job may sound pretty easy, but Wil had to cut the tile splash guards to get around the electrical outlet and had to cut the vanity at the base so that it would set the way I wanted it to. Wil is a professional and I highly recommend his work!
