What a colossal disappointment! Unsure what to order, I reviewed and selected a Cubano from the sandwich board. Having struck out on my last few Cubans, I was confident Tony's description of roast pork, ham, Swiss, pickle & mustard would deliver. After taking my order, one of the many guys behind the counter dipped into the back for 15 minutes, which seemed like an exceptionally long time for a sandwich. I took my sandwich to eat at home. The sandwich was pressed and toasted as a Cuban should be, and it was filled with about half a pound of ham, no roast pork. In addition, there was so much mustard on the sandwich that it upset my stomach. Had I wanted a ham and cheese panini, I would have ordered one. If the person who took my order told me they were out of pork, I would have happily changed my order. read more

It's always so wonderful to "yelp" a food place nearby when you're hangry and are pleasantly surprised by the gem that you just uncovered. This local deli shop is not just any deli shop over saturating New York City. We stepped in huuuungry and they provided their suggestions. "Try anything pressed". So we got pressed caprise sandwich and a suggested sandwich special by the server on the counter. Extremely friendly and took his time with us. The sandwiches were spectacular, please add vinaigrette as they advise. While we waited we had samples of their frozen cappuccino. Overall such a great lunch for us. A neighborhood gem I've grown up on that has been consistent since the beginning of time. With delis all over, I find myself always coming back and going out of my way just to come here. With their family like atmosphere that makes you feel like you're one of them, it's the vibes that make you want to stop in just to say hi if you're in the area. A bit overrated and overpriced. I'm not sure this is even the best deli in Whitestone, let alone all of Queens. Sandwiches are perfectly fine and very filling. But the prices reflect that. A bit clubby inside. Newcomers have to wait it seems, while others walk in and get serviced immediately. The guy with the blondish/brown 10 day shadow, just walking around behind the counter, looked at me standing there at least five times and never asked what I needed. I drove an hour to find this deli & it did not disappoint!! My husband & I were greeted by Tommy, he was incredibly kind & patient with us as first timers!! A couple of us drove out to Tony's off the recommendation of a local. I'm so glad we listened. Let's start with the staff. You get a show with them. They are all Greta, have great conversations with the customers, and are all characters. It was my first time visiting and they treated me like I grew up down the street from them and went through CYO basketball with them. I ordered a small sausage and peppers and a Tony's special as it is on the board. The sausage and peppers screamed of mamas kitchen. Peppers we're still firm and the sausage was perfectly sweet, juicy, and the portion was perfect. My special was awesome. Asked the counter man to make it how he liked it. Perfect. The vibe is so chill. They make you feel like a cousin. They knew about a fighter from my hometown and it sparked a cool conversation. The lead guy comped us some home made frozen cappuccino. When you walk into Tony's, you are instantly greeted and you feel like you're a regular. "Hey love, what can a getchu." The hardest part of your day will be narrowing down what to order. I couldn't make up my mind so I got the Tony's Special and The Classic Italian. This isn't a place where you'll be in and out within a couple minutes, so pack your patience . Making art takes time. Everything is delicious and fresh, everyone is beyond nice ( all 5 guys behind the counter asked if I had ordered and asked how I was during my visit), when I was paying I was given a sample of the iced cappuccino. If I wasn't already mega caffeinated at that point I would have 1000% took one of those with me. Tony's sets the standard for customer service, I will happily give them money. read more

I was in the Bronx and there was really nothing good to eat so I went over the bridge and found this spot based on yelp reviews. First of all, the service is so spectacular. Lots of guys behind the counter taking orders and making food. They gave me a sample of their frozen cappuccino while I waited for my order. I don't even drink coffee, and this thing was insanely good ...lots to choose from. I ended up ordering a Panini, which was basically half the size of my leg. So great portion size. i came here just a few minutes after 5:30am and there were already customers there/arriving soon after. it seems popular with locals. i ordered a pollo e proscuitto panino, which was massive. definitely enough for 2 meals if you don't have a massive appetite. it was delicious! the chicken cutlet inside was great, the mozzarella was really fresh-tasting (i think they make their own) and had a perfect texture and chew. i loved the tangy sun dried tomatoes, they rounded out the sandwich perfectly. it's a small deli that also stocks some italian imports. there were 2 gentlemen behind the counter preparing orders. they were very nice, not over-the-top friendly/chatty which was just fine by me because i didn't have the energy for small talk at 5:30am lol. i'd like to come back to try the pasta alla vodka and some of their other prepared foods! read more

Based on the all around 5 stars reviews on yelp and my friends recommendation, I knew that I had to try this deli and get their famous Tony's Special. So before leaving for my trip hiking with a couple of friends, I grabbed my own lunch sandwich/coffee and food for all of my friends here too. TONYS SPECIAL I personally came here to try their famous Tony's Special. It's a monster of a sandwich with all kind of deli meats. Honestly, it's pretty similar to most delis that offer that same thing, but the one thing that Tonys Deli does better is adding the peppers. I personally got the sweet peppers. The blend of the sweet peppers to the sandwich elevated the quality. Big fan of the pepper addition! All the meats packed high into one sandwich, I found it hard to finish a hero by myself. So I ended up sharing half the hero with a friend and it was honestly the perfect amount for me. FROZEN CAPPUCCINO I got myself a large frozen cappuccino. It's almost like a slushy ice coffee. I'm a big sweet tooth and love my coffee sweetened, but to be honest, I did find the cappuccino drink way too sweet. It was a super sweet kick from the first sip. A bit too much. So I will skip next time, but I definitely wanna go back to try their regular iced coffee. Above all, a big reason why they deserve a 5 star in my books was because of a certain incident that I had and the way they handled it. When I was later trying to figure out how the split the cost of the food with my friends, I found that I was charged $6 extra. I really had no idea where the extra charge came from. I calculated everything multiple times and still came up under. So I had called them up and visited the store to get an understanding. The person who served me remembered me. I spoke with one of the guys from the store. I explained the situation and figured maybe they charged me for a coffee that my friend personally bought with her own card. Tony's Beechhurst Deli is a family-owned Whitestone institution. I stopped in for the first time on Christmas Eve and was blown away by the quality of the food and phenomenal customer service. Tommy was very friendly and welcoming, even shaking my hand and saying "I hope we don't let you down!" ...well, you didn't let us down because my entire family inhaled all of our sandwiches in about 12 seconds. Probably one of the best eggplant paninis that I've ever had in my life! Fresh ingredients. I've heard they make their own mozzarella and you can't beat the flavor of true fresh mozzarella. Tiramisu was amazing and, staying true to its name, was a perfect pick-me-up. Awesome customer service. The staff seem to know the customer's names and their "usual" orders. There's a "family" feel to this place with customers walking in and out just to chat ("How your dad?" "Tell Mary I say hello!" etc. etc.). Whoops, meant to post this a while ago but better late than even later! I found Tony's on Yelp of course. With that near perfect rating, how could I not stop by when in the vicinity? Most of the customers looked to be locals and regulars, and Tony's seems to be popular with the after school crowd too. Though we were all clearly newbies, the incredibly friendly staff put us at ease and even offered samples of their amazing cappuccino slush drink. Definitely going to order a full size of that when I make it back. There was a small dining room off to the side for eating there; however no restroom was available. My meatball parm really hit the spot after a long morning of travel, and I gobbled it down. Tony's sure is doing something right if they have been around for 30+ years! read more

I saw Tommy (because I read a lot of reviews and everyone talks about him and has pictures so I feel like I'm meeting a local celebrity and I'm stunned haha) and he checks to see if I'm being helped while on the phone- so nice! Customer service and respect comes from the top and reflects on their employees so you know they keep it classy. I order my ham and cheese hero, a pollo e prosciutto panini, and small iced cappuccino. As I'm waiting, I look around and they have a seating area which is pretty big for a deli. There's a great amount of Italian groceries and goods on top of deli chips, candy and snacks. The place is clean and well-kept which reflects the love they put into their foods. The iced cappuccino is delicious, a bit too sweet but very nice mix of ice, sugar and caffeine. I dont drink coffee but my husband and I are hooked now. My hero was bomb! The bread was fresh and just soft enough to bite into to catch some ham, cheese, lettuce and tomato. There's a generous amount of ham and cheese in that chopped up way I like. Food: Got the chicken parm on a hero and Penne a la Vodka. The Penne here is to die for! The best taste and texture I have ever had even compared to very high end Italian restaurants. So fresh so delicious. I don't think I'll ever leave here without at least a small to go haha. The chicken parm was okay. This didn't have any wow factor. It's not bad but not spectacular either. The sauce could have been a little more rich. The bread was a little too moist from the sauce. Maybe because I asked for the sesame bread. While waiting for the food preparation I also got a sample of their iced cappuccino. For this also Wow. 100 times better than your typical Starbucks/Dunkin (mean no offense comparing franchises to this but I just don't have as much experience with cappuccino elsewhere). It was a perfect balance between coffee and milk/sweet. Neither overpowered the other while you can still enjoy both. I normally don't drink coffee but if I did then their Iced Cappucino would definitely be another staple when coming here. Service: The workers here are Amazing. They are super friendly with every single customer in the deli. It feels so nice seeing them chatting with everyone and knowing them by name. Had to pull over stop the car and wrap both hands on the monster. 1/2 is enough by itself for most, to eat both in a sitting would be death by food coma. Not the first time trying this but each time I get, it invariably leads to eating sweats, messy vinegary hands and the final bite with the thought 'how can they make something so goddamned good?'. It's a great Italian sandwich with good quality ingredients and executed by people who know their business end of a meat slicer. Other choices looked good as well, chicken cutlet, pasta, sausages, sauces etc. I shityou not, it's that good and a real deal at $10. My husband and I have been coming here for over Ten years, They're always consistent, and they've always welcomed us like family. No matter who helps you, their dad, Tommy, Mario, or Angelo. They're all so nice. And I've never not left there cracking up. I've never not seen them happy. Till today... Today our hearts were absolutely smashed to find out that Mario ( or as my husband likes to refer to him as "The sizzle") has passed away. We've been in tears since we've found out. When I tell you they treat you like family here, I mean it. We had a special bond with Mario. Especially for me... Let me tell you, for Ten years this man not only remembered my name, but also, that I'm Muslim from Pakistan, that I don't eat pork, that my husband is Italian. He congratulated us on our marriage, fed me thru two pregnancies, congratulated me once I had my babies, and if I went in without them asked "how are the girls?". He told us stories about how much trouble he got into when he was growing up haha. He told me about how he'd met his wife Tanya and glowed about Gianna, sharing stories about the funny things she did and how he almost broke down on her first day of school.
