This is an easy 5 star review. In NYC there are many places to get a BEC sandwich, but so many do not get it right. Sal's keeps the beacon of goodness and hope alive with their spectacular version. Purist want the BEC on a Kaiser roll, but I prefer mine on a bagel. Some will disparage the bagel choice because many are poorly made where the fillings tend to smoosh out the opposite side of where the eater is taking a bite. When it is done perfectly the bagel, cheese and eggs become one making a cohesive sandwich with the bacon firmly ensconced in that delicious creaminess where everything is just working magically together. The trick here is getting soft folded layers of eggs that are not over cooked. To me Sal's makes the quintessential version. On top of this great New York breakfast classic sandwich, the iced coffee is money as well. Although off the beaten subway path it is worth the bus ride, or more conveniently, car or even still you can risk a criminal summons hopping on a bike. Small local deli. I parked on a residential street nearby, but I see people park up on the sidewalk all the time. It is a grab and go kind of spot. The owner(?) and staff were very friendly and they made sure they got my order right! They also made sure to package my order neatly. I got a classic BEC (ordered a 2 egg sandwich + bacon + american cheese, salt, pepper and ketchup) on a roll. I got lucky with a fresh batch of bacon, though it doesn't seem like ingredients sit for long as there's constantly people coming in and out or ordering on the phone. Fresh, hot and decently sized sandwich is all I need! Definitely coming back when I'm craving an egg sandwich! read more

Sal's is incredible in so many ways. Good food and friendly staff. We were visiting from out of town and they were great. My som and I had bfast sandwiches which were well priced and delicious. Took my wife back for an omelette later which she loved. Must go! read more

Holy smokes! First off, we were fortunate to have booked a hotel within 2 blocks of Sal's. Otherwise we would not know of this GEM! My wife and I are born and raised in Oregon(Orygun). We were in Sloatsburg, NY for my Gram's 100th birthday. An amazing woman still taking care of herself! We scheduled a day and a half in the city to take in what we missed on our last trip. One thing we never miss is bringing home some delicious bagals. We found Sal's close by and ventured in. First thing I said walking in was "I smell BACON!" My wife ordered a dozen various bagels and we pondered what we would have for breakfast....I honestly don't remember what Diana ordered, but I got the egg and bacon bagel sandwich. There were at least 7 pieces of bacon on the sand and he must have heard me...while Andrew (Sal's son) was heading out, for deliveries I assume, he said "give this guy some extra bacon". Seriuosly...there were like 12 strips of bacon! They didn't know me from Adam, but they hooked me up! Maybe he heard my western accent lol... The eggs with ham were AWESOME! Perfectly cooked! I have never encountered such a thing in my 47 years in Oregon. Take notes people!! Sal has done it right for decades and I sure hope I get another chance to enjoy their hard work! This place is awesome for breakfast. If you have never tried it, take some time and check it out. There isn't parking so people usually park on the sidewalk I have seen. But the BLT's are awesome. They shred their lettuce which I like a lot, instead of leaving it as a whole. Their Bacon, egg and cheeses are really good as well. The serve is good and everyone is super nice. Love this spot. Especially on the go, or if I want to eat it at home. My family enjoys it here as well. Cute little stop if you're working or on your way to work. I used to frequent this deli all the time when I worked nearby and it's one of my favorite delis. They're open very early and close early but the hours are more for the daytime workers rather than those who work late nights. I seriously love their sandwiches and hot plates and the rice pudding. I've had their sausages and peppers with rice before and wow it is amazing. I remember getting one of their chicken dishes and it was a bit salty, but otherwise everything else was amazing. When you order their eggs and ham or bacon, etc.. sandwiches, they always pile on the eggs so that's a plus! I recommend their Turkey club sandwich. It's the one that has eggs and bacon! This deli is very close by my job and so many people seem to order from here, the delivery guy sometimes shows up multiple times a day! I decided to order from here one time since everyone else does so I figure why not give it a try. One negative about this place is that they do not accept debit or credit cards, bummer for people who don't always have cash on them, like me. I ordered a simple sandwich, honey turkey, provolone cheese and mustard on a roll. It was reasonably priced at $6 and the sandwich was very big. I will definitely be ordering from here again for a day I feel like a sandwich. I came in here one day after ordering to get a coffee and this place is very tiny. There is no place to sit, it's pretty much just go up to the counter, order and go. They have hot plate options as well which I may consider one day. Great place for morning coffee and sandwich. Friendly staff and very attentive. The man and woman behind the counter remember your order. If you go after a certain time there is another gentleman there who will stutter and ask you 20 times what you want until he forgets again. Overall great place and quick delivery. read more

Walked in and was greeted by another customer who then paid for us since we were visiting! We placed our order and Andrew (Sal's son) took great care of us and later, we met sal. Anyway, the sandwich was excellent ! I had an egg cheese and sausage on an onion roll along with Sal's way brewed iced coffee . Perfect! Highly recommend. I absolutely love this place! I've been coming here since i was 12 years old (Im 23 now). They always greet me with a smile and treat me very nicely. Their food is delicious and its freshly made. The employees and owner are sweethearts, i have never seen them in a bad mood or rude to any customers. Parking sucks here but well worth double parking to get an amazing egg sandwich. Morning rush is insane but the lady and man behind the counter get people in and out with out a hiccup.
