We were introduced to Tony's by friends about 8 years ago. It is a long drive 45 minutes with no traffic from my home, but all these years it was well worth the long trek.
Tony has been in business a long time and works along side his two sons and a small but loyal crew. They repair all make and mfg of cars and do especially good work on pick up trucks /SUV's. We had them evaluate our beloved '96 Cadillac Seville with over 100,000 miles on it: He recommended getting rid of it because of age computer problems -- especially high costs repairing that North Star system. He has also taken care of our daughter's 2000 Honda Accord.
I keep returning for these reasons:
- excellent experience training knowledge of complex inner working of cars. The BEST, most thorough and in depth analysis of a vehicle we have ever found with a mechanic in four states and 38 years of marriage.
- no BS, simple straightforward answers and extremely honest. You can say, "I have a limited budget, what do I need to do now, what can I postpone and for how long before it can get dangerous/ serious."
- gracious, no hustle, extremely accommodating and kind sincere good people to boot.
- clean excellent work
We have taken outstanding care of our cars. We do not like to be ripped off, do crazy unnecessary work. We have never had any problems of any nature with Tony.
The best final testament is the extensive analysis then work he did for two long long trips (2010. And 2012) from minneapolis to Toronto (2 days 2 nights 24 hours of driving EACH way via Chicago) transporting our elder daughter w all her stuff for grad school at U of Toronto.
We first took our 1996 Tahoe to a local mechanic who came up with a short list totaling $300. I then drove to Tony and waited as they did their own analysis . ( today the Tahoe has 250,000 miles-2015). They found some significant problems but the bill was very reasonable considering the depth of work. We could NOT break down. There are stretches on this trip in northern Michigan etc of many miles of farmland with no mechanics and skilled garages for emergencies. It is a terrible trip ( we are in our 60's now) and both round trips -- starting grad school then graduating --The Tahoe made it. We recently, this past year 2014, had him do another analysis. Then fixed it. Today the Tahoe drives better and smoother-- the ride is similar to the early days of ownership -- a bit incredible at 250,000 miles. I called Tony a month ago and told him how shocked I was at how wonderful a ride and how well the engine/ entire vehicle was performing.
We love this '96 Tahoe also because one terrible day after only owning it for 3 months, my very young daughters and I became lost in the western mountains of virginia in a blizzard -- no cell phone reception, no husband , no houses. Towns . I saw only two tire tracks from a truck in the deep snow -- over a foot deep in some spots -- as we drove up down these steep slopes. Somehow we got out of there ( no gps in those days), and the Tahoe made it through the deep snow. I was scared out of my life but was forced to remain cool for my daughters . I will forever take great care of this remarkably built vehicle.
... And thanks especially to Tony read more
