Slim's Auto Repair - Anoka, MN…read more Slim's came highly recommended by a close family friend, Dave Marrs -- a man who, even after moving away from Anoka, still drives back just to have Slim's work on his vehicles. That alone told me everything I needed to know about the kind of trust and loyalty this shop inspires. I showed up at Slim's tired, stressed, and honestly just needing someone real -- someone who'd talk to me like a human being, not a problem to rush through. I'd been through enough breakdowns lately (cars and otherwise), and I needed honest communication, fair pricing, and a genuine sense of care. Slim's delivered all of that and more. They explained what needed to be done without condescension or fluff, kept me updated, and finished my "blower motor surgery" along with a few other diagnostics quickly and efficiently. When I picked up my car, I slid into the driver's seat, turned the key, and just knew. You know that feeling -- when the engine hums smooth and steady, and your gut says, "She's good." That's the Slim's difference. It's not just about fixing cars; it's about restoring trust -- in the work, in people, and in the idea that good businesses still exist. Slim's Auto earned not just my five stars, but my respect, gratitude, and repeat business for life. -- Christina Evers #AnokaMN #AutoRepair #FiveStarService #HonestMechanic #CustomerForLife

They are so honest, they'll tell you when you don't need something done to save you money. They don't try to "upsell" everything by telling you 20 other things you should have them do to your vehicle. They will tell you if something truly needs attention though. They have always done super high quality work, and at a very fair price with good turnaround time. They are prompt with communication and never go silent. All around, this is the best place I have ever used. I put my trust in them with all my vehicles, and they never disappoint. You can't go wrong here.

John's Mobile Repair Service to the rescue - 4 stars!…read more I inherited a nice riding mover that smoked and blew oil out of the bottom. And as a smaller issue, I have a cheap push mower that I couldn't get started. I just wanted to know if the push mower was trash or worth salvaging. But my main concern was the rider. John really came to my rescue. Unfortunately, as a result of health issues and then spinal surgery, hauling my rider to a repair service was out of the question. I've been hiring a mowing service, which has been pretty expensive since I have a full acre of land. John communicated well and he arrived early. He got my rider all fixed up - fast! He pumped up my tires, he told me I needed a new battery (I knew that one already, my cheap trickle charger never worked), he cleaned out my gas lines & carburetor, and he tightened my oil drain coupler spigot...but I still need a new one...but no more blowing out oil, just small drips until my part arrives. He gave me part numbers for an air filter, a battery, and a spigot. He got my push mower going too...in only seconds. Nice! The whole thing cost me $240 bucks...plus a short punch list of parts I needed to order...which I can install myself. I really appreciate that he discussed money, in advance, before he started work. I had NO IDEA what to spend. But he wisely suggested I shouldn't exceed 300 bucks because I can buy a similar used riding mower for 500 bucks. Makes sense. John is a nice guy but he has some severe health issues, which he freely discusses. There were a few minor glitches during his visit but all-in-all, I'm very happy and I'm impressed that he's still hitting the pavement and running a business, despite his obviously painful disabilities. Thumbs up! -Maxx

We called John's Mobile Repair service because our John Deere Riding Lawn Mower stopped running…read more We took it to a local shop who had told us that it wasn't worth repairing. when John came to residence to diagnose the issue he had spent 15-20 on it and found the issue, it was a bad head gasket. He was able to replace along with a tune-up, oil change and he sharpened the blades. The riding lawn runs like new. John was on time and very professional and he had good humor, which was a plus for us. We certainly are to recommend his service to anyone who has small engine repair needs.

This is the ONLY shop I ever bring my automobiles in for repairs PERIOD!!!…read more I've never had such honest, affordable and yes, FAST service as I've experienced here. I trust them with all my vehicles and know I am not getting any FAST one being pulled on me like I've felt places elsewhere. I am always pleased about the service received and dollar spent even when not always happy with the auto issue itself. I've had everything from transmission replacement to ball joints, shocks & struts, brakes, AC, Janky Chevy door handles fixed, various check engine diagnosis' and other repairs to regularly needed oil changes. Like cars do, they need TLC and their components do not last forever and require work and upkeep. And every time something is needed, there is ZERO question where my ride will be repaired. For me, it's a no brainer and I recommend this place to anyone who wants to be treated like a friend or family member with honesty and respect and to just want to be back on the road, feel good and safe again and not have to take out a second mortgage God bless honest shops like this and keep up the great work Brian, Gabe and team! After bringing my Trailblazer here I would feel completely comfortable making the decisions on my own. (see photos) They give a comprehensive file with pictures and additional insight to the problems, which is extremely helpful. There were a few questions I had about a couple recommended issues and Pete (who completed my inspection report) was able to clarify them with ease and honesty, so I was able to save money on not having to do that repair. It was more of a riding comfort suggestion so it wasn't a big deal since it doesn't bother me. I received a link to the reports via text and e-mail. For the estimate, you can go down the list, which included each cost, and just click "approve" if you want it done which is very convenient when you are at home. If you have questions call! Like I said above they are very easy to talk to and there was never any feel of pressure. Being pregnant during COVID is a concern but the inside was very clean including the shuttle service vehicle and I was very comfortable being there. They have a drink station there or Dunkin Donuts is next door. I also thought it was neat that they have a big picture window with bar height stools and counter that you can watch the mechanics in the shop. I don't think I've ever seen that before. After the repairs, I called around for other pricing estimates and CBA was around what others were. Some areas were less and some were slightly more. One being the fluid flushes. CBA was about $20-30 more expensive. I am a fairly frugal but I would still choose here versus saving $20 somewhere else, especially if you are getting other work done which could equal out the total price. Plus, you have the photos to prove why the repair needs to be done versus someone basically telling you to trust them.. This is now our first choice for automotive repairs.
