He's reasonable, quick and gives it to you straight. My car is always done the same day. If it isn't, he'll definitely let me know before I commit. I was warned his customer service can be ummm "untraditional" he just doesn't do Minnesota nice *passive aggressive. He's Straight shot no chaser. His shops reputation proceeds him. Parking is tight. He was so busy, I once got a ticket but he took it off the bill. Lol. Another time, I was in a hit and run accident. He walked me thru resetting a button located in my back trunk. The car started right up. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. It's great hearing about his wife and kids. I reserve what else the man talks about becuz his mouth is fresh! I had real quick and same day service and it was super affordable! I did walk away with a minor situation with my dashboard lights. They scratch your car and don't take ownership of it blaming it on a "hit and run." We live 3 blocks away and park our car in our driveway where there wouldn't be a hit and run. Scratches are clearly from them driving into their lift. Irresponsible, rude, not accountable. read more

Had to add an update. Nghia insisted I gave him 4 stars. Never happened. It was 5 from the start. Best place for auto work but good luck getting in. He's full all the time for a reason ...he's the best. My last interaction was a cooling fan replacement (I bought the part) and a trailer kit and wiring. Land Rover wanted $895. Nghia charged me $350. He doesn't rip you off but you will have to listen to his HORRIBLY NOT FUNNY JOKES and hear him complain about eating rice and vegetables because his prices are so low. Nghia is definitely the best in the metro. Great prices, excellent work and jokes so bad you laugh. Great asset to our neighborhood. Love you Nghia. I'll keep recommending you. read more

My hood latch malfunctioned and I needed it fixed asap.. When I tried to get an appointment Nghia was honest with me and told me he could not take my business as he was too busy. He did, however, attempt to fix my current latch with some lubricant, and when this did not work he grabbed a cable and secured the hood and showed me where the hooks should be attached; at the tow hood on the bottom and the hood latch. 5/5 read more

Environment - Clean Customer Service - VERY DISRESPECTFUL! He asked if I was going to leave the car there I said no I just wanted to him to look at it. I would have gladly paid for this but was waved away, no charge. I have recommended several people to them since. today, a friend was quoted almost $800 from the dealership for maintenance. Nghia's is one of those hidden gems! I'm so beyond happy I found this place through a friend who recommended the shop. That is the kind of place this is, it flourishes through word of mouth. Nghia, the owner, is SO good, kind, personal and has an amazing memory. And the best part, he really just wants to do the best work at the fairest price. I was in a situation where my 2008 160K mile Kia clunked out because of the clutch. I LOATHE car payments and don't like sinking my monkey into anything car related. The body of the kia is in great shape so I decided I'd prefer to fix the clutch over getting a new car that would come with silly car payments. I called some places and they all quoted me laughable rates to fix the clutch. But then I was referred to Nghia and life was good again. I was able to get it fixed correctly and at a very decent price. It runs great now! Nghia also showed me my bad clutch which was good to see and explained each part that was an issue. Nghia has a sign in the lobby that says: "Fast, cheap, or quality: pick two." He managed to get all three and was extremely personable. His rate is criminally underpriced; any other shop would have charged me no less than double for the starter he put in on the Mercedes diesel I brought him that was older than several of his mechanics. That engine is a Rube Goldberg device of rods and pistons that requires three things to come out for every one that goes in. Apparently, if half of the stories on this page ARE EVEN REMOTELY true wouldn't you complain to the Attorney General's office or better yet; the Better Business Bureau? I would have. If you look at HALF of these people's public profiles they spend more of less half of their lives bitching about everything....that being said...... Ahem, I have had many repairs on my Golf, my Avalon and I have sent people here to have their car repairs done. I can vouch for these guys on many levels because they are honest, hardworking and good people. ASC certified and Bosch certified means you are able to work on many if not most cars. I know their staff by first name and Nghia; he has a heart of gold. How many garages give you a ride home or pick you up when your car is ready? They try to save me money all of the time and let me know when my car is going to need a major maintenance or a repair to save for. They even let me bring in my parts I order online and charge me half of what most garages would labor-wise. I have seen this garage cut people breaks, give discounts or just make people smile. How many business owners with a brick load of customers still manage to make you laugh? Not many. Stay golden Nghia! read more

Nghia: Mechanic, comedian, possible superhero. This guy is the best. Gets the job done, and is extremely reasonable with pricing... and absolutely honest. Last time I was in he wasn't 100% sure the power drain in the door was the only thing causing my starting problems, so he didn't let me pay until I had successfully started it...the next morning. Yep. Let me leave without paying to be sure it worked. One thing - as his sign says, there's good, cheap, and fast - choose 2. I have had five different things done, so I thought it time to right a review. I had the tie rod replaced on my left front and the whole axel/cv joint on the front right. I have had the timing belt and water pump replaces, two oil changes, and tires replaced. Nghia's prices are always fair and he always does a good job. After the water heater the heat wasn't as hot as it was before, he took it back in and made and adjustment. My car is a 1994 Mitsubishi Expo LRV with 230,000 miles on it, but I've seen him working on all kinds of cars - late model American and old foreign hoopdies like mine :) I was referred by a neighbor of mine, and I'm glad because I never would have come across it on my own! read more

Very honest dude with a positive attitude. He was willing to stay late and fit my boyfriends car in quickly before close. He was willing to fix it, but discovered he needed another part. We took the truck home that night, but he completed the repair on Monday and waited to charge us until then. Good honest car shop in North Mpls. It always looks so busy here with plenty of cars, but appointments are not mandatory. The one down side is they are not open on Sundays. read more

I had my car AC compressor fixed from there recently. Everything went smooth and i thought this place was actually a pretty decent shop. But little did i find out, they ran my car into something and scraped my whole panel and rear bumper. I saw the color of their car lifts (blue) which matched up with the color that was scraped on my car. Ironic huh? They claimed and said it was a hit and run or something. But how?? I live literally 3 blocks away from this shop. I drove home that day and parked it in the garage. so tell me how? they said "we normally own up to things like this." but they didnt own up to this one. you can see how tight their space on their car lifts are too. I was beyond pissed. I'm asian too just like Nghia. I like to support my local asian businesses, but you can't be that twisted to not own up to that. especially when i just drove 3 blocks home, parked it in the garage. If youre fixing your car from there, inspect EVERYTHING before you leave. Because they won't own up to that, just like they did to me. Never again. read more

I brought my trailblazer in because it was stopping while driving or wouldn't start. It was my ignition switch. That said they'd replace it with new part so I paid them about $250 to replace part. Well less than 24 hours later after getting it back it wouldn't start again so I had to tow it back up there to re-fix it. I get it back again and two days later I'm on my lunch break in Monticello and it broke down again had to call my supervisor to come and get me. I had it towed to the dealership. They told me my ignition switch was never replaced but instead they bypassed it with a wire. The dealership replaced the part and my truck ran great. I went back to Nghias shop and demanded my money back showed him prove that they didn't do what they said they did. He denied that I was speaking the truth. I had my my lawyer write a letter that I was taking him to court for charging me for something he didn't do. At the end of the day he gave me my money back. This was the worst case I have ever had dealing with a mechanic shop. Hopefully he is treating his customers better with honesty and respect and not lies and deceit I mean ppl are bringing there hard yearned money and spending it with you at the least treat us like our business matters. read more

One of the best experiences I've had with an auto mechanic. My Pontiac Vibe was very hard to start, so I took it to Nghia for a tune up, he told me that the tune up was unnecessary for this issue and that my car needed a new sensor, which would cost $200. No problem, as I knew the price was already very competitive for the service. He later looked under the hood and found a wire not connected properly, hence the hard-to-start issue and the check engine code. He fixed that free of charge. I then requested an overall inspection, and the result was good. I am appreciative of his honesty. He's also very friendly and explains customers' issues so they can understand what's wrong and what needs to be done without trying to sell the services. I sincerely recommend him.. read more
