I chose this shop because of it's high reviews. They even have printed fliers on the walls about being highly rated on Yelp. So, I hope this makes a difference for anyone in my place. On Saturday (3/10/18) I called this shop and told them my Prius for sure had exhaust damage and I don't know what else. I asked if they could handle stuff like that. They said yes. So, I had my car towed here and waited to hear back. Tuesday (3/13/18) I got a call. They said the catalytic converter was smashed and I was looking at about $4,600 for the job. The mechanic even confirmed this with me and to my disbelief he simply remarked, "Priuses are expensive, bud." This didn't sound right so I looked it up. Besides the fact that google clocked in the typical replacement being between 1,300 and 1,900, I even called a dealership to ask how much it costs. They said the part was $1,700 and the total job would be about $2,200. So, I called Tony's back up and said, "A dealer will do it for around 2 grand, why is yours 4,600?!" Without hesitation he cut his estimate in half and said he might be able to do it for $2,300. ***This shows the first estimate was complete bullshit.*** So now I push him a little more, I asked him for an estimate on the part, he did not have one. He said, "We don't handle this kind of stuff." To which I reminded him that I called in advance and told them I had an exhaust issue! And he said 2,300 was the lowest they could go. There was no way I was going to trust them to fix my car. So, I go to pick it up. When I get there, the mechanic cannot find the estimates he previously quoted me nor explain where he got any part estimates from. He asked where I was taking my car and I explained that at this point I would trust almost anywhere else because a dealership is cheaper. He then said, oh well we can probably do this for around 1700. So I reminded him that over the phone (and yes this is the same guy, Will) he said 2300 was the lowest he could go and 4600 was the initial estimate. He then exclaimed, "Oh I would never say something like that!" and went on to blame his secretary and explain they would have to outsource welding on my car. Anyway, I had my car towed to a friends. We jack it up and look at it. We take some pictures and go to a dealership. Talking to their parts department we see the blueprint and look at the part. It does not look like welding is required. It looks like the only damage is to the part. To end with some reasonable remarks: 1) They get 1 start for not being trust worthy. This is the number one quality people want in a mechanic. I had to tow to and from their shop because they couldn't be honest about their knowledge and capabilities in the beginning, and their price quotes seem to be based on nothing but what they think they can take me for. 2) It's understandable that Tony's auto wouldn't know the specs on a Prius exhaust and to them it would look like welding is required. That said, one call to the Toyota dealership would have cleared it all up. They have the vocabulary and knowledge to discuss parts over the phone. They had all of Saturday, Monday, and half Tuesday to diagnose the issue and get a quote. The fact that they didn't even call a dealer shows how little effort they put into my diagnostic. 3) By the time I was leaving, they seemed to be much more reasonable. They even offered to let me obtain the part and they would install it. But that's just it, their behavior and estimates are erratic. Why would I trust them at this point? read more

I absolutely LOVE this place!! The guys always try to get things done as soon as possible, they are totally honest, and don't try to up sell you like the chain mechanic type places. They are friendly and they take care of you! I've been trying to find a mechanic for YEARS and I've finally found mine. Even after I moved across town, I still drive 25 minutes to them for whatever I need. During covid they are a little lax with the mask thing but other than that I have no complaints. It's hard to work in a garage with a mask on, I understand and the desk in their little office gives that 6 foot distance that is needed. read more

Just took my 2002 Honda Accord into Jeff and his crew for regular maintenance needs, new tires, fixing my AC, and replacing a shattered back window. Not only did they get it all done in less than a day, Jeff went out of his way to contact and confirm what needed to be done and the cost of it, which was AMAZING, he then ensured it was done promptly and efficiently! Even made sure my new window has the same color tint as the rest which would typically cost more. Right away I could feel the difference they made in my car to the point it feels like a completely different car and drives so much better. I cannot recommend a shop more and am thankful to have a shop I feel safe, respected and truly cared for to take my little old car into regularly as a single female. 10/10 recommend. read more

I have been going to them for 4-5 years now. Rob and Fabian are the mechanics you want to ask for. Whenever I had problems with my BMW they always got it fixed right away much cheaper than the dealership quoted me for. Now, I have a Nissan and take it to them. They are not like some of shady mechanics looking for work that make up problems that are wrong with your car..they have enough work. I just took my Nissan for a check up and thank goodness nothing wrong with it. I'm so happy they always help me out. Thanks guys!!! read more

My husband had an issue with his vehicle getting stuck in park. The dealership would not and could not tell him over the phone what was even wrong with the vehicle, he would have to bring it in and be charged nearly $200 JUST to get looked at. Brought in my grandmas 2012 Toyota Corolla for an inspection. The car has been sitting for a few months and I was planning on driving her to Los Angeles for The holidays. I flew in from Cali Thursday. Had the car checked out on Friday. Was on the road and home by Saturday. The inspection was done and all was good. That's not necessarily what this review is about. I needed an oil change in my Prius and saw the Groupon for Tony's. It is close to home so I bought it. Called and was able to schedule a time right away which was cool. Took it down and although funky the place was full of cars. I checked in and was told it would be an hour or so and the best place to wait was Subway across the street. Only had to wait an hour vwfore he called to say it was ready. Did a great job and the headlight cleaning looked great. He then showed where I had a small radiator leak and gave me a reasonable estimate on the work. ( We haven't taken it back as we are getting more estimates but the estimate Tony's gave is comparable to other places.) I was very happy with the work I had done there and the staff was very pleasant. read more

The garage gave a quick fix since we were limited on time... told us to come back for the same until we could permanently fix the issue. Didn't gouge us. So I went to bleed my brakes and coming from Chicago they where rusted. This place could have easily pressured me in buying new calipers but instead warned me that they could break the bleeding system due to rust and if I wanted to continue. I told them to do what they could. In an hour they had my brakes bled and I was back on the road. The price was fare for the rust. Plus I had my 2 1/2 yr old in the back. I appreciate it guys. Didn't have a great experience here. Called 3 times with no answer or returned call before I stopped in. I live very close by so I figured they would be a good option. Dropped my car off around 1pm and was told car would get looked at and they would have an answer to me within a couple hours. Never received a call. I called back the next morning and was told the car needed about $3500 in repairs. First question he asked me was "how much do you like this car?". I originally brought the car in because it was leaking coolant. The upper house had a good tear and I didn't have time to replace it myself. The 3500 included them replacing the lower and upper radiator coolant hoses and reservoir. Along with some odds and ends and an oil change (which I had done about 2 weeks prior... so obviously they didn't check). I asked how much it would be to just replace the upper hose and after him hemming and hawing for a few moments as he said he was recalculating he quoted me at $650 for the upper house to be replaced. The EOM part retails for $65-80 depending on where you buy it. I hopped off the phone with Scott to confirm I had the right price for the part - I just told him I would let him know. Once I confirmed the price I walked down to the shop and told said I would just like to just pick up the car. First thing he said was "so you just decided to get rid of it huh?". I didn't say anything back and after they adjusted some things under the hood. Scott came back inside and handed me a bill for $78 for the analysis. I just got a quote from a mechanic who does some free-lance labor that I have used before. To do everything they quoted me $3500 for including parts for $600. So lesson learned. Another random sidenote, when I first arrived at Tony's I tried to enter the office but noticed a ladder with a guy painting on it behind the door. He was an employee based on how he was dressed, not a hired painter. He saw me try to enter and then just went back to painting. About 3 mins later of standing outside the door a younger employee who was in the car bay noticed me and when in the back way to the office and told the guy to get down and open the door. All in all, just a lame experience that cost me a day and a night without my car and $78. Plus a lot of ire towards Scott who apparently thinks I should pay him 3500 or throw away my car. Check engine light was on on my Hummer H3. I took it to Tony's and he told me it was a minor issue and he will only charge me for the diagnostics and will not charge for the repair. The check engine light came on on my car and I wanted to get a diagnostics on it but didn't want to pay a ridiculous amount for that. I looked online and saw that this place ran free diagnostics if you got the repair done with them, and $75 if you decided not to fix it with them. I thought that was reasonable so I took it in. I contacted the phone number that was on the website at about 9 pm, they have an emergency phone number you can txt, which is nice, and they responded right away. They told me I could take my car in the next morning first thing. I took my car in and the men were very detailed in what it is they were going to do with my car. They ran the diagnostics and I was able to know by the end of the day what was wrong with it. I decided to get the work done with them but I was worried on how long the repairs would take, but low and behold they told me they could have it back to me by the afternoon the next day! I was so surprised and thankful! The next day I picked up my vehicle and everything seemed to be in working condition. They went over what it is they did and even saved the old part for me. They made an appmnt for me to go in the following week to make sure very thing was well with my vehicle which i appreciated. Most people just want to get you in and out. Needless to say my vehicle is doing great almost two weeks later. They fixed the problem in record time and I felt the pricing was very reasonable. It's a small shop but I think that is why they are so quick to do repairs and great at what they do. Mind you, my vehicle wasn't the only vehicle they were working on, but these men are hard working I'm sure they work long hours to get these cars back to the owners.
