Great food, good prices and nostalgia atmosphere. It's always a great stop when in Toledo.

Hot dogs were lukewarm Macaroni & Cheese dry & pasty Pepsi etc etc flat, had to wait at the bar to get it there. The best part? Listening to the waitress scream our orders to.our faces while the workers were standing almost shoulder to shoulder with her. $75 wasted! The Packo Family must be rolling over....sad what's happened at Front St. location. read more

It's been well over a decade, but ever since Bennett Enterprises bought Packo's in a commodity play, the quality has gone downhill. Across the board, other than the pickles, things just aren't as good as they used to be. While the classic - original locations still have the spirit and vibe of the brand intact, these bizarro fast-food versions of Tony Packo's fall short. The food quality and flavors just aren't there, and the seasonal items like the pickle bread are just awful. Combine it with a plain interior and completely apathetic staff and you have Packo's in 2025. read more

Incredibly delicious local Hungarian fare! I honestly didn't know how much I loved this cuisine until I tried Packos. Doesn't matter which location you choose, they're all excellent, as is everything on their menu. The servers and staff on Secor were tremendous. Very friendly. Very focused and they made sure we didn't leave with unanswered questions or the ability to sample things we were curious about. That ended up being a win-win. Can't actually do the food justice by describing it here. Right amount of spice, served warm, flavourful and the snap of the sausage made it all memorable. The laid back atmosphere is also great. Plenty to see on the walls and several autographed buns by some pretty famous folks. Story I'm getting was Burt Reynolds was passing through Toledo in 1972 and started this tradition. Pro Tip: Don't be afraid to try the paprikash. Over dumplings it's a triumph. Get your fill of pickles, too! 08/24 read more

They advertised lake perch which I took to mean Lake Erie yellow perch, but I don't think it was. Whatever it was, it was bony, overcooked and didn't taste very good. read more

First time ever going to Tony Packo's and was really looking forward to it. Not knowing how things worked there, figured we first order what we wanted to take home, so went to the "Take out" order line; Was told by lady there we just needed to order take-out as we ordered our eat-in food in the regular ordering line; did that only to learn the lady there did not know we could do that and questioned it, even though we pointed to the lady who told us we could. She looked so confused. Turns out, you just tell the cashier at the end of the eat-in line what you would like to take home after eating in, pay for it all there, get the take-out items by showing the receipt when you leave. Why did the one worker not know that? Especially when they work closely together and do this every day. Got the chicken paprikash which was good. Others ordered the chili which was so-so but tasted like it was made with chopped hot dogs rather than actual chili meat. The pierogies were good, but the coney dogs were marginal, German potatoes are ok if you like it heavy with pickle juice. Ordered the two chocolate chip cookies as a dessert for home. For $3.29 for two, I thought they would be those large-size home-made style cookies....nope. They tasted factory made (i.e. from someplace else), and were only about 4 inches in diameter and somewhat thin. Not worth it for the price. The place appeared clean but under-lite. Bottom line, certain foods OK, others not worth it. The experience was not what I expected. Lots of nostalgia, but doesn't seem to live up to it. read more

I bumped into a girl, one of northwest Ohio's very own daughters; a blond with a beautiful Slavic apple shaped face and a demeanor warmer than a bowl of grandma's goulash. She was back home from D.C. where she works as a staffer on Capitol Hill. She recommended Packo's. What a concept this place has! Hungarian fast food. To a Californian, that is wild. The food wasn't great. Of course not, its fast food. Although it does come with a lot of fanfare: merch galore, floor to ceiling. People must love their Packo's around here. What I had was the paprikash. The sauce was bland. The spätzle like dumplings weren't hot enough. The chicken breast (you wish it was chicken thigh), was tender, actually perfectly cooked. I wish I could have tried the stuffed cabbage and the perogies. I wish I could have lingered longer with that Capitol Hill staffer, but time is short and life is cruel. read more

Great service, very friendly and courteous. Great dogs but... I ordered 3 of them loaded with no cheese. I was very disappointed when I saw that I got 2 very tiny Pacos great pickles (1 was hidden under the 3 dogs). Not in a real hurry to go back for a while. read more

Always try to stop at Packos everything I'm in Toledo. The snap is jusr so fun to listen to. And they've perfected fried pi ckles.

Stopped in here today to try the pickle bread. It is great a must try. It comes with orig packo pickles and banana peppers but you can request different pickles or jalapeños. Next time I am getting bread butter pickles. As usual great roast beef just wish they still had rye bread. Pickle bar is such a great touch! Very clean in here. Service was fantastic as well ‍ read more

Tony Packo's is a must stop as we drive through the Toledo area. Normally we go to the restaurant on Front Street, but Secor rd is right off 475 and we found this location closest to our route. Food is typical Packo's--chili dogs, soup, goulash(chili on top of dumplings...) as well as cabbage rolls and paprikash. We got chili dogs, veggie soup, and goulash. All were very good. The food is served in a cafeteria style method. We see the food as it's being placed on the plate. Service is fast and friendly. Portions are reasonable. I enjoyed the comfy chairs in the restaurant and some of the Tiffany style lamps hanging from the ceiling. The restaurant is bright--quite a contrast from the original location. Parking is easy as this is set up like a fast food restaurant in a strip mall. Yes, they have a drive through. Restrooms were clean and easily accessed. Prices are reasonable. A selection of pickles are available near the beverage station and they are pretty good!! Good iced tea is one of the beverage options. Although this restaurant lacks to coziness of the original store, it has some features not normally found in a fast food restaurant. read more

Hot dogs were marginal, German potato salad was just okay. Not what I expected. Lots of hype, not up to it..

We Stopped here today while passing through Toledo. Wanted to try as I heard their food was awesome. Really disappointing. Son had chicken sandwich which he described as OK. I had a chili dog. Chili was gritty, cold and truly inedible. Got two orders of fries. Looked good, but fryer oil was rancid, making them inedible as well. Could not believe they sold their canned chili in the mini store inside the dining room. Had to go to the counter to ask for bathroom key. Dining room attractive and clean. You guys have so much potential. You can do better read more

Ok, I love that this is Klinger's favorite restaurant. Obviously. But this was a great place to eat! I live elsewhere and I am a travel nurse so I get to taste a lot of new stuff. The dogs and sausage were delicious! Cabbage roll and chicken chili were also great! We were seated immediately at dinner time and had great service. There is even a Packo's gift shop. Will return during this assignment. read more

My daughter and I were hungry and jumped off the I-90 for a quick lunch mid afternoon. She had the cabbage roll and I had the meatloaf special. The cabbage was fast and ready, while the meatloaf needed to be heated up in the back kitchen. The food was above average. The free pickle slices at the drink/condiment/utensil counter were a nice bonus. Disappointed that no mention of the 70's TV show M.A.S.H. at this Planko outlet, unlike the main original restaurant. Five stars for what it is, better food fast. read more

I stopped at the Tony Pacco drive-through on Secor to pick up dinner for myself and a friend. When I went to unpack the food, everything I ordered was not edible. I have a attached a picture of the German potato salad. The hot dog was water, soaked the chicken Paprikash was burnt and dry. We had peanut butter sandwiches for dinner. I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. read more

As a loyal, consummate M*A*S*H fan, I had to try Tony Packo's since I was passing through on a long road trip. I was not disappointed (bought a T-shirt too!). There was a lot more variety to the food than I anticipated, but I was here for the dogs. A tiny bit more like a Kielbasa with a definite hot dog snap and taste, the dogs, topped with the finely diced sweet onions and special sauce (lots of cumin) were a savory and sensory delight. Pickles were really, really good (and on the spicy side.) Would really like to return to try many of the other dishes like the Chicken Paprikash and Stuffed Cabbage. And, by the way they even ship their hot dogs and sauce...check out their website for more info. Better yet...just stop in and enjoy. read more

Went to this place is our parting luncheon Sunday before our kids went back to Ohio Hudson, Ohio and we went back to Frankfurt Illinois. It's an experience that's for sure. I don't eat pork so I couldn't eat any of their hotdogs which they're famous for chicken chili was delicious And I ordered a chicken sandwich but it was fried so I didn't eat it. It took them three times to get french fries crisp but they were good. It's an interesting place and someplace everybody should go once I went back. The only thing I would order is chicken chili. My wife had a bowl and I had a cup and we both agreed it was delicious, but everything else was kind of weird that stuff on their menu. They said they never have like diet Dr Pepper and one of the dishes wanted to order and the waitress said they were going to reprint the menu without those things but was a weird place enjoy the buns on the walls which I've got pictures for you. read more

Surprisingly good food, especially for fast food. Fast Hungarian is not something you see often and I had to try it. The stuffed cabbage had a lot of flavor. A little heavier on the sour/vinegar than I prefer, but not bad--just different. Good pricing. Good portions. Helpful staff. Fun new-to-me concept. read more

What a great local fast food place. First time in the area and this will be my go to every time I visit. Roast and gravy had lots of flavor.

Good spot to stop. I had the chicken/dumpling soup and others had the chili dog and the chicken paprikas, all was very good. We had an elderly person on a walker and the staff was very helpful in helping to bring out the food. The pickles are good too. read more

Minute we walked in door we were warmly greeted and felt like long lost friends. Tony Packo's - Great Comfort Food! - Fast Food Near Me - Toledo, Ohio

I was a little apprehensive about trying this location after reading through some of the previous reviews. Crummy food, not enough food, and overpriced. I used to live in Toledo and was excited to see a fast food Packo's option close to my hotel. I'm glad I didn't listen to those other reviews and went. This location is set up counter style as they prepare what you order on a line in front of you. And then you pay at the end of the counter. Service was fine. We were promptly served and paid for 5 of us in less than 5 minutes. I ordered combo number 1 for $7.99. It came with a hot dog, soup, and drink. If you add a hot dog to a combo it's $1.99 extra. That's what I did and I made my hot dogs chili dogs. That's a lot of food and a drink for $10. That is certainly not overpriced and I didn't leave hungry. The hot dogs are sausages cut in half and have a snap to them when you bite into them. The coney sauce has a bit of spice to it and is very meaty and good. The chili was also a bit spicy with a lot of meat to it. The food is exactly as I remember it when I lived here. Only complaint I have is the chili and my wife's soup were lukewarm. And those were the first things we ate when we sat down. Otherwise, it is worth a visit if you don't want to go all the way to Front St. to enjoy this local gem. My wife also ordered stuffed cabbage and said it was delicious. My kids got chicken paprikas and ate it all. For $10 per person this is a good value. And the food is exactly as I remember. It's worth a visit. read more

A taste of home. Sorely missed. I live in Florida and there is nothing like this anywhere so I appreciate every meal I get here. Do get the no 1 combo with chili. I think it was an off night. I waited well over twenty minutes to place an order. An amazing discovery! You no longer have to go to East Toledo for Hungarian specialties. Not that there's anything wrong with East Toledo, but I'm more often around the University. We had the very fine stuffed cabbage, and I wished I was around for more meals. They have the famous Hungarian hot dog and chicken paprikás and a couple of other signature dishes. Also they had a Maumee Bay Brewery IPA, the Glass Hopper. Dinner for two, a really nice dinner under 20.00. Thank you Tony Packo! read more

I am not really sure what to make of it all. The restaurant is nice and clean, the staff was really nice. They were running a special that was pocket book friendly. The parking is a little odd. I think you have to zig zag through some other parking areas to get this store, but i may have gone in the wrong entrance. I have had the canned chili/hotdog sauce, which I really like and I am relatively new to Ohio. So when in Rome. So i got the special, 2 chili dog all the way with a side and drink, 7 bucks. So I was a little surprised to see that they cut their hotdog / sausage in half. But i guess given the size and the need to add the sauce it is needed. As a side, i got their chili, not to be confused with the chili sauce. Then to the pickle bar and other condiments. I love the pickles, especially the spicy ones. The cup of chili is okay. Some of the better stuff I have outside the Great Republic of Texas. But, i would rather saddle up next to a bowl of the chili sauce to be honest. No beans and much heartier flavor I think. I think they would be better off with smaller sausage so that they would not need to split them, but they have been successful longer then I have been alive, so what to I know. Just seems awkward. All of that being said, it is really good. it is straight forward and old school. Unlike the Cincinnati place, they are not afraid to heap on the chili sauce. read more

Been a loyal customer my entire life since I grew up by the original. I don't regularly visit but often enough to recognize that there are some awesome employees working at this particular location. They seem to be lead by a super kind, personable gentleman than engaged in conversation with us and appeared to really enjoy being here. I could tell the staff also appreciated him as a leader. when you order a hotdog, you only get a half. I don't get it. I think the pickles are way too spicey.

I would like to say that this restaurant had one of the best customer service I have ever experienced. From the moment I entered til the moment I left, it was superb service. I believe the person that was helping me was the manager but if he wasn't, he should be. I didn't catch his name but he was a built black guy. Haha sorry for not being able to be anymore descriptive than that. Not only did he offer me samples because it was my first time there but he also made sure that everything was good. And it was!!! I would had to say the fries were my favorite only because I really do love fries. It was crispy and had great seasoning on it. Pricing is normal and there were plenty of different options. I would highly recommend this place to any of my friends. Thank you so much for the experience Packos! read more

I love Packo's and have never been to this location. Went in and an employee was in the prep area with her mask down below her chin. Same with the cashier handling people's money and taking orders.
