Japanese fried chicken is a lot like American fried chicken, but the batter is a little different. The dipping sauces are similar to American sauces, but, they are a little different. Different is good. You can get said chicken in the form of wings, chunks, 1/2 a bird, or, in a donburi bowl. The menu also has some American (fries, coleslaw) and Asian (kimchi, edamame) sides. Mochi for dessert? You bet. Drinks? Pop, beer, etc, and sake! Service? The service was very friendly, fast, and accurate. Tommy and Sam run the place when the Main Man is elsewhere. They do a great job overseeing the service and the cooking. The atmosphere is similar to Kengo's other places on the same street. Intimate with bare brick walls. Seating is designed more for quick service and higher throughput. There are a few tables, but most people sit at one of two bars. But in all seriousness, this place had a very large menu with many different options to choose from, which I always love. I ordered the "club classic "with french fries and a side of the smoked Gouda mac & cheese. As you can see in the photo of the sandwich is a serious sandwich that was very large and I could only eat half of it. The ingredients were fresh and I loved how toasted the bread was.
