I've given this restaurant 5 stars as it's very good at what it does and the market it aims for.
In terms of ambience and decor, this is an upper midscale eaterie.
Pleasant, yet casual surroundings with comfortable seating and an open kitchen.
We chose from the Presto Menu which has a great choice of dishes from noon until 18:30 on a weekday from a bargain £4.95.
The four meals enjoyed were the Pollo Milanese - Chicken Breast in breadcrumbs with Penne Arrabbiata. This looked delicious and wasn't too spicy for my typically less adventurous dining companion.
The Salmone - Scottish Salmon with a White Wine, Grain Mustard & Cream Sauce served with Rice. Again well presented and tasty (I'm told).
The Pollo Funghi e Salvia - Chicken Breast in a Creamy Mushroom & Sage Sauce served with Rice. I tried some of this after my meal and the sauce was somewhat similar to a Stroganoff if that's something you favour.
I had the Pollo Pizzaiola - Chicken Breast with Olives & Capers in a Tomato and White Wine Sauce served with Rice. It was very good indeed. A decent sized portion for a lunchtime and the sharpness of the Capers was an excellent contrast to the sweetness of the Tomato Sauce.
The staff were very welcoming and there's a wealth of experience at this restaurant with some of the senior staff having previously worked for many years at a long established and well known Italian restaurant in Edinburgh.
I will definitely return to try other items on the Presto Menu such as the Salsiccia e Fagioli - Italian Pork Sausage and Green Beans in a Tomato & Red Pepper Sauce served with Garlic Bread.
They also include in the menu any choice of Pizza from the A La Carte selection. read more
