I usually don't eat Italian out but the reviews on this place was good so I had to try and I'm glad I did. I got an app, bread, pasta and dessert and I wasn't disappointed at all. The bread to me Was probably the best. They make all their bread from scratch and u can tell. I had just the plain Focaccia... I could tell it came out right from the oven to my table. Usually places like they only give you like 4 pieces but this bowl was full of bread. The pasta was good... I wish it had more meat in it. The dessert was different: lemon ice cream with frozen limoncello inside of it!! Overall I would recommend checking out this place.

First class food and service We had bottle of Sicilan Nero red wine, bread, arugula salad, eggplant appetizer, seafood dinners with ice cream dessert. We made a 4:30pm reservation, arrived earlier 4pm. Very relaxed meal and great food "Mangiacapre" Just like eating in Italy or NY/NJ Italian food.

On this night we snagged the last Cannelloni, was so delicious!

Solid Italian food: linguini with clams is my go to and it was as good as i had it in Italy. The waiter staff/service was timely and good.

Strigoli zucchini e gamberi- with king prawns and zucchini

Such great food!! We were recommended to go here from a few friends. From the states and they were willing to explain what some dishes were.

Clearly, I hated the Linguine Saportite

We give it 4.5 but Yelp won't let us. Food was delicious. Service was good. They let you try the wine before you commit to it. Atmosphere was warm and inviting. I got the linguine saportite. The seafood in the pasta was plentiful and fresh.

The 8.50 aglio olio. I count 19 pieces of pasta.

I ordered via the justeat app. meal was 24.50. I ordered aglio olio. I received approx 15-20 pieces of pasta that cost 8.50. much of it has spilled out into the plastic bag used for delivery. I had to pour the contents back into the container before putting it in the microwave. I could have made a better aglio olio from the contents of my cupboard, it would have been cheaper, but wanted a treat. the calamari was a bit better, but the salad that came with it was wilted, and had one quarter of a tomato with two pieces of wilted lettuce. the garlic bread with cheese was the only thing that filled me up somewhat. just shocking. I reckon the restaurant sees the address, and knows it's unlikely I'll turn up at their door, because they're so far away. My meal of 24.00 fitted onto a small plate!

    Very yummy spaghetti carbonara....Soooo good

We walked in 9:45pm, and they were super friendly and said u have plenty of time., dont worry. They have quite big meun, and free wifi. Alot of Itantian customers here too,so hopr it wd be good. We ordered garlic cheese bread...Was not great. Wasnt hot or melted.....Now i started to worry about my main course. Amzginly, my spaghetti carbonara .....It was sooooooo good, super hot and creamy. sooo yummy. We also ordered scloppine(veal) al marsala. It was soo good too, but i really love my carbonara. highly recommend it

Slow service. Food was fine. Not sure I would rush back even though it is straight across from the playhouse

I had lasagna and my friend had a chicken dish. Both were full of flavor. Then we decided to treat ourselves to dessert since they are famous fir their gelato. Wow! Dessert was even better than the meal. Not sure when I will be back to Edinburgh but I will definitely return here if so.

The guy behind the…read moredessert counter was nice but the rest of the crew seemed rushed and not to happy to have us eat in with just desserts. I ordered the Haggis Ravioli as it was on my list of delicacies to eat in Edinburgh but the rest of our orders were the sweet stuff. We got the Affogato served with espresso in a moka pot which was a first time for us. The crepe and the chocolate caked served with gelato were even better. The main restaurant has Italian caricatures and murals which was a nice touch. The secondary dining area (The Hispaniola) had feels of a Spanish pirate ship which was odd for an Italian themed restaurant. The latter was the site of the Rutherford's Bar (1834-2007) frequented by famous clientele and then was transformed into a Treasure Island themed restaurant. Food was really good. I'll even come back when in Edinburgh. Service could use a little work though.

We tried on our first week in Edinburgh and failed, but were able to make reservations 3 weeks out for our last night in Scotland, and we are glad we did. Pork cracklins were a bit hard and crunchy, but everything else was perfect. We had fresh bread and langostinis for starters, along with a smokey whiskey cocktail, the Smoked Indiscretion! For mains we enjoyed the poached Cod, and the Pork with Barley. Service was very good, and wine selection was extensive. Atmosphere was loud with music and locals' chatter in the bar below, but dark tables and heavy wood panels made it a perfect place for a couple celebrating 3 weeks of travel. Highly recommend a visit to the Devil's Advocate, if you can book a table in advance.

But they call these lessons, "character building," apparently. No matter, the Devil's Advocate is worth the search. Located in an old Victorian pump house halfway up (or down) Advocate's Close, the Devil's Advocate is known for a killer whisky shelf of more than 300 different bottles from various distilleries across the Highlands, Lowlands, Speyside, Campbelltown, the Islands, and Islay. I finally sipped on a 15-year Tamdu that has convinced me to keep a bottle at home. Then there's the Clydeside 2024 Limited Edition Cask Strength that was wicked impressive. The bartenders are class at making and serving seasonal and regular cocktails that have their spin and character. My wife enjoyed gin-based cocktails such as the Clean Slate (with St-Germain, citrus, and sugar), Rose Garden (with Yellow Chartreuse, Cocchi Rosa, apple, lemon, and mint), and Bee's Knees (honey and lemon). I went full speed ahead with the scotch cocktails, which are essentially classics with a scotch-substituted twist. The Double Shot is an Espresso Martini with Dalmore 12 in addition to Kahlua, espresso, and demerara -- quite smooth without being too sweet. The Scotzia is a Negroni with Fettercairn 12, while the Boxcar is a Sidecar only with Aberfeldy 12. We enjoyed the bar for a few hours, watching the bartenders make magic while sipping on cocktails, while listening to 80s pop tunes. A great evening indeed.
