    Meatballs

I'll give our server grace since it seemed like her second day on the job, but that was probably why the food/bill took so long. The squid ink risotto was super pigmented/rich and the original carbonara was so amazingly creamy, almost too much so where I couldn't finish. The cheesecake was said to be blackcurrant but I'm relatively certain it was just chocolate, but the gelato was great. Meatballs were amazing as well.

Vittoria checks all boxes for food, service and ambiance. The restaurant is very appealing outside and once you walk inside it's even more appealing. I ordered the Vittoria pasta which was recommended. The portion was a bit small but still filling. My pasta was very good and I enjoyed it with their hot chili oil. For dessert I ordered the rum raisin ice cream which was also very good. Our server was very sweet and made our dining experience enjoyable. My boyfriend really enjoyed the pizza here. I can't wait to return to Vittoria for great Italian food when I visit Edinburgh again. Highly recommend!

    Pesto pasta, burrata pizza

So yummy, and the staff was incredibly friendly! We got the chicken pesto pasta and the burrata pizza, among other fun dishes! A wonderful end to our day in Edinburgh.

We had such a lovely dinner here. The venue is so much bigger than you would think walking in. We were seated downstairs near the bar. The food was served so quickly and it was delicious. It was so nice to see actual Italians talking to each other Italian (coming from Southern California). We had pizza and pasta and they offer a half pizza and smaller serving of pasta already split between two people. Perfect for my husband and I who shared the capricciosa pizza and the tagliatelle bolognese. My son had the Diavolo pizza and my other sons had the margarita pizza. Everyone was so happy with their choices.

Yum! One of the best meals we've had so far this trip. The calamari was okay but not amazing. I liked my vittoria pasta. My husbands pizza was good but we'd probably try another pizza next time. Would recommend to anyone who's visiting town.

    Sticky toffee pudding

HIGHLY recommend. Fun vibes; amazing, fast service; friendly wait staff. And the food. Was. Spectacular. Tagliatelle pescatore was absolutely phenomenal. Might be some of the best pasta sauce I've ever had. The flavors were just fantastic. And get the sticky toffee pudding. TRUST. It is so delicious. Also the gelato is so smooth. 10/10, definitely go here!

Superb experience in this clearly family run place that could be in Bologna or Venice. This has a cool modern vibe with nice lighting, bench seating along the wall and purple led light over the middle part. The service was excellent but the star is the food. I had a passable minestrone but the daily pasta special was incredible. This was a black pasta with a ton of very fresh shrimp and a wonderful tomato sauce that had a slight kick to it and wa based on a seafood reduction. Truly special. They have two types of carbonara the wife had the traditional version and loved it. They have quite a selection of aperitivos, scotch, beer and mixed drinks. The wine list is small but well curated.

If you're in the mood for Italian food while in Edinburgh, then Vittoria is the place for you. I loved the modern chic interior. Service could have been friendlier, though I did appreciate the efficiency when my food came out fairly quickly. I ordered the chicken and pesto pasta, which was pretty good overall - the chicken was on the dry side but the sauce was amazing. I've never tried red pesto before, which gets its vibrant red color from sun-dried tomatoes or roasted red peppers, and has a richer flavor profile than green pesto made from basil. I have to say, I am definitely a fan. The raspberry mojito was also solid. Overall the meal was fairly satisfying.

I've been craving some Italian since I first came in Oct of 2023. My excitement was killed pretty quickly. Not sure if they were short staffed or just didn't care. Took longer to pay than to eat our meal. Off the starter menu we got some Bruschetta and Insalata Caprese. Bruschetta was the best part of our meal. The tomatoes in the Caprese just looked sad. I miss the bright red tomatoes that used to come with this dish. The Chicken Milanese looked amazing as presented but the favor fell completely flat. While the chicken was nice and crispy it had no flavor. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Was really hoping to have the same experience we had in 2023 and it just disappointed this time.

The food here is SO GOOD! I'm sorry I had to say that right off the bat. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and swiftly seated and served. Food came out very quickly, but the quality was nevertheless excellent. I went with the Mac and cheese croquettes and the burrata pizza. Both were steaming hot and tasted very fresh, I was worried that the Mac and cheese would taste oily because it's fried, but it was actually very well balanced and delicious. I had 4 slices of the pizza and couldn't do anymore even if I wanted to. I loved how thin but flavorful the pizza was, and it was cooked very well. Not soggy and the perfect layers of sauce and cheese, topped with vinegar. This is what I call AUTHENTIC Italian food! It definitely exceeded expectations!

    Italian Fish Stew

Had a good dinner here while staying in Edinburgh for a couple days. There was a 5 to 10 minute wait, so not bad. This was a nice restaurant just a block down from the Royal Mile. For food, we ordered the focaccia appetizer, Raviolini Gorgonzola & Pear, and Fish Stew. The focaccia was excellent and my wife loved the raviolini. I thought the fish stew was good, but not great. Had good flavor, but was a fairly small serving. Service was good and efficient. Definitely worth a visit for good Italian food.

Not a bad option, but I was just disappointed in a few things so I don't think we'll return. First, lots of burning on the crust. I'm happy with some char, but burnt pizza makes me feel like I'm not getting what I pay for. The toppings were minimal and haphazardly added, but that's a small note. The sauce is decent, but for a thin crust, it was incredibly flimsy. A bit soggy. Good, crisp pizza should hold its shape when you lift it up! I think the oven is maybe too hot? Or they aren't rotating the pizzas? Because it's burning on the edge but not fully cooked on the bottom. I'm also confused on the mozzarella stick dipping sauce. Marinara is what you would expect, but this is a garlic aoli... so basically just mayo. Garlic was not strong. It wasn't horrid, but not great, and it's a weird combo. THOUGH, I will add the mozzarella sticks were beautifully crispy and the breading was nice and thin. I really liked the mozzarella sticks themselves. Overall, I would unfortunately not recommend this location.

He made great wine recommendations and treated us very well. This restaurant has a certain hustle and bustle of a busy Italian restaurant, but still captures the intimate feeling of closeness with their seating area. We decided to start with Focaccia and it wasn't disappointing! It had a crisp exterior with a nice, fluffy interior. The Focaccia had just the right amount of oil and salt to make it the perfect starter. Despite having a delicious line-up of pasta, I just had to go with the pizza. Once again, I wasn't disappointed in the slightest. The pizza had some of the most delicious sauce I've had in a while. The cheese was perfectly melted and the crust featured a similar structure to the Focaccia. What really set the pizza apart was the chili oil our waiter drizzled on top. I'm so glad I took him up on his offer because it added a pleasant spicy kick to the pizza. I was also able to sample my wife's vegan pizza. She also decided to go with the chili oil and her pizza was some of the best vegan pizza we've experienced together. It was packed with delicious vegetables and the mozzarella vegan cheese wasn't too heavily applied, nor did it give the extra gooey mouth feel that vegan cheese often has. Combined with the chili oil, it was a wonderful experience. I'm so glad we made it out to Vittoria.

We did that...but pizza is life...especially NYC-style pizza slices...so when Civerono's showed up on our radar a 2-minute walk from our hotel...there was nothing to consider...this was inevitable. One of their pizzas was listed by Timeout magazine as the 13th best in the world. Okay. Count us in even more. Now, we didn't get that one because it wasn't a vegetarian slice, but if they ranked so highly, surely the basic cheese slice would be at least acceptable. Spoiler alert: it was. My wife and shared a single margarita slice, split in half for the two of us. We were between lunch and dinner, so the main goal here was to try this pizza, not necessarily to fill ourselves up before resuming our Scottish-appropriate adventure. It was good. Super thin as a good NYC slice should be. If it were the local slice option for us back home, I would be happy with it. We thought the dough was a little bit undercooked, so not quite as chewy or crisp as we would have liked. It had a good mix of cheese and sauce, and the flavor was great. So perhaps not the best slice we've had, but miles above the chain pizza spots. The staff was really nice. We were there at about 3:30 in the afternoon, so it wasn't really very crowded. I was happy to find an Italian restaurant in Scotland since I was looking for some comfort food. The interior has lots of seating space in separate little rooms. It's all one connected space, but there are separators and barriers around the sections, if that makes sense. There's seating for larger and smaller groups, and I was immediately seated at a table by myself. The staff was very friendly. I ordered the arancini and seasonal risotto. I told you, I wanted CARBS. The arancini was gooey and cheesy and fantastic and came with a spicy tomato salsa. The perfect appetizer. The risotto was divine! It came in a parmesan cheese crisp bowl and had a parm cheese base, pears mixed in, and balsamic vinegar drizzled on top with some arugula. Everything came together for one delicious, decadent meal. The portion was also huge and I had plenty left over for another meal. My server and I talked about cats and I instantly felt welcomed in Edinburgh and at La Favorita. Not least because the twinkly-eyed waiter called me "young lady" - this kind of complimentary talk earns anyone an instant tip as far as I'm concerned. This eatery is the kind of classic, traditional Italian experience which has to produce at least a smile from visitors, even if you've had the worst day at work ever/been dumped/dropped your favourite ornament/are a generally grumpy individual. I opted for the Risotto Imperiale, a tasty, well presented, affair, which came with jumbo, juicy prawns and a langoustine with one claw perched on top of a generous portion of rice and champagne sauce. My very critical fellow diner, definitely a pizza enthusiast, went for the Pizza ai due Salami, which after a few minutes of careful munching he announced was "very good", definitely high praise for him, before continuing to devour the rest of his meal, (only offering me a small slither). La Favorita has a pretty extensive menu, with all the dishes on offer you would expect from an Italian restaurant, so if you've got a craving for decent pasta and pizza somewhere different, where you're not paying over the odds, take a wander away from the centre of town and get down to Leith Walk.
