The food was absolutely incredible, staff was terrific and the whole theme was very unexpected to see in Dunoon. We had ordered a Calzone (with a side of chips) and the Cajun Chicken with chips, both of which came with a wee portion of coleslaw. The chicken melted in your mouth and was seasoned beautifully. The calzone was baked instead of fried and was the BEST calzone I have ever had. The chips were perfect and even the coleslaw was delicious (and I don't even like coleslaw!). We spoke to who we believe is the owner and he was very friendly and approachable and our server was a woman who could not have been better. Her service was as perfect as our meals. We highly recommend The 51st State Bar & Grill and will definitely be back next time we are in Dunoon.

There are definitely lots of restaurants or cafes, but very few worth visiting more than once. Duo, however, I simply can't get enough of. Duo is the Italian little sister of Perth's well-known French restaurant Pig'halle, and they sacrifice none of the quality. Everything is made in house, including the pasta and pizza. Knowing this, I have found it hard to resist having pasta here. The egg linguine with mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes is excellent. On my most recent visit I had the pumpkin and pecorino ravioli in honey and orange jus. It was an incredible plat du jour that was almost sweet enough to be a dessert as much as a main course. Speaking of dessert, you really need to have one here. It's worth it just to stop in for dessert with wine or coffee or tea. Or it could be worth stopping in for one (or 10) of their famous macarons (the best in Perth) or an eclair. They also make arguably the best pizzas in town. They even have a haggis pizza, how Italian-Scottish could you get? And it's also worth noting that they do 2-for-1 pizzas to takeaway on Tuesdays... but if you MUST plan ahead. This is such a popular deal that I recommend phoning at least an hour ahead. I'll often phone in the afternoon for an evening pickup.
