Solid quick Italian meal. The garlic bread with mozzarella and caramelized onion was a great starter to share and delicious. We also ordered the spaghetti bolognese, which was good (was missing a bit of flavor) but still hit the spot. Got a sweet cider for us to also split and sadly had to pass on dessert. Good tasteful Italian food over lunch special. I had the 3 courses - 13.95 and he had the 2 courses - 10.95. We started with the garlic bread (topped with garlic butter and rosemary) and insalata caprese (creamy bufala mozzarella, tomatoes, basil and baked dough sticks). I like the little tomatoes but we ended up eating the dough sticks with the chesse. Next, he had the spaghetti bolognese and and I had the ZUPPA DI FAGIOLI (a hearty soup with cannellini beans, pancetta, tomatoes and pasta pieces. served with dough sticks) I was craving for soup because I was feeling a bit sick that day. The soup was a bit thick with alot of beans. I wished that the salad part came with dressing but they provided olive oil on the table. Lastly, my favorite, is the tisamisu (espresso and liqueur-soaked sponge between layers of mascarpone and cocoa). I eat every spoonful. Bathroom is downstairs in the basement. read more

This Zizzi has a gigantic dining room. Our group was cold and tired when we visited St Andrews on a rainy day. We were greeted with smiles. They have free wifi here which is fantastic. They are a chain in the UK but they have great food specials. I only had Earl Grey tea while my friend ordered the fresh mint tea. It was so pretty, I had to take a picture. The service was great. You are served at the table and you pay up at the register. They even have a bar which was kind of cool. It looks like a cool place to study if you go to the local university. By the way, the university here is where Prince William met Kate Middleton so it has had an uptick in student applications. I can't imagine why. Zizzi seems to be a cool place to grab a bite and drinks. read more

So I went to Zizzi's for my birthday with a large group of 16 people and Zizzi's was totally cool about and acomadated all of use super easily. I choose Zizzi's because it is Italian and I have a few fairly picky friends who probably wouldn't do so well at Indian or Thai but no matter I still enjoyed myself and my food at Zizzi's. They had run out of mussels as a starter which was really annoying because that was my favourite thing that they make. I eventually got over it though, but seriously guys... your a restaurant you should be able to predict how much of a certain product (especially during Valentines week) that you need to order. Instead I got bruschetta as a starter and Carbonara as a main. Bruschetta is one of my favourite things in the world and I would have to say that Zizzi's makes a fairly good bruschetta.... (though I still much prefer my fathers....). The Carbonara (my favourite Italian pasta dish of ALL TIME) however was really good.... with tons of scrumptious sauce that I just couldn't get enough of. The whole table got 4 or 5 bottles of wine too and there was PLENTY of wine to go around... by the time the meal was over my friends sung me a slightly loud and rowdy version of happy birthday and insisted that I make a speech (and to my embarrassment I did). The restaurant staff took our boisterousness in good stride and were still attentive (though probably happy to see us leave). There where a few other birthdays also celebrating along with us so it was Apparent that Zizzi's was well able to accommodate multiple large groups. Surprisingly enough the bill came to only £148 for all 16 of us which considering how many starters and bottles of wine we got was fairly cheap. All in all I say that the company was OUTSTANDING (so really no matter if we ate shit I probably would have still had a good time since it was with my 16 closest friends and it was my birthday...) but the food was good too! Zizzi Zizzi what can I say. Dining outside in a sunny afternoon in the heart of St Andrews, and we are off to a good start. Food served and finished with the girls voting for a eight from ten , the boys five from ten. So pretty much a mixed reaction. Hands down the best meal I have had during my brief holiday stay in Scotland; a delightful surprise of tasty deliciousness! The Scene: Date night, late night hankering for pizza and chocolate cake. After stopping multiple pub-departing students for their choice recommendations and trapsing back and forth across Market and South Streets, only by a process of elimination did we decide upon Zizzi's. We arrived 20 min before closing and the manager kindly allowed us to come in with a request for pizza only orders -- hey, no problem that's what we came for. The Locale: Fully stocked bar upon entering (wine, prosecco, beer, etc.). Spacious, modern, wooden floors, large comfy booths with throw pillows, rectangular tables across the length of the restaurant, candlelight table side, and an open kitchen area toward the back. The Service: Our superb server, Kat, seated us in a private romantic area and made us feel welcome, unrushed, and appreciated. She was extremely knowledgable of the menu, shared her favorite dishes with us, accommodated our requests, and was engaging, funny, and a delight. The Bits: AMAZING! Wood-fired pizza, half and half toppings served table side on a plank with bubbling cheese and a crispy/chewy crust: creme fraiche, shrimp, zucchini, goat cheese on one side & red sauce, pepperoni, portobella mushrooms, cured black olives, and mozz on the other. The pizza toppings in general are pure British (think crazy combinations like chili, eggplant, and arugula) but they happily accommodated my plebean Italian need for recognizable ingredients. Ohhhhh, the first, second and subsequent bites were flavor-filled, fresh, warm, and delicious. Chocoloate hazelnut torte for desert with a solid cookie-like crust, chocolate mousse-like filling on top with a dab of whipped marscapone that was a perfect compliment to the richness of the chocolate. 2nds: Can't wait to return for more pizza but also to explore the numerous pasta and risotto dishes, the starters such as Tuscan potatoes, garlic bread, and fritta mista, and of course the other melty chocolate thingy for desert. It doesn't get any better, fantastic food, beer and service! I'd recommend the bread fondue starter and the calzone was immense! Oh and you MUST try their own chilli infused olive oil (bottles on table) drizzled on EVERYTHING, it has a kick though. Another must try is the (stronger) Peroni, lovely! Overview: Popular restaurant, can be noisy, but will definitely be returning for their vegan and gluten-free menu. I actually ended up eating here two nights in a row - first with my parents, then with friends. First night I ordered a pizza, second night I got ragu - both are very flavourful and filling. They have fantastic options for vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free diets; I was even able to get a vegan dessert, which is a rare treat. If you are planning on dining at a regular meal time, reservations are a good idea, but are not necessary. Friends and I had to wait about 10 minutes for a table at 7pm on a Sunday. The only drawbacks to Zizzi: First, the restaurant can get very noisy, especially at peak meal times. I found it took effort to converse with people across the table from me. Second, the restaurant is popular, meaning staff are bouncing between many tables and sometimes take awhile to return to yours. Waiter on the second night forgot to bring my drink, but apologized and removed it from the bill. Overall, I will definitely be back to Zizzi! read more

Same food as every other Zizzi in Britain. It's not bad for a chain. Consistently decent pizza and pasta dishes at reasonable prices. I particularly like their pizza with marscarpone cheese and ndujda sausage. I've also had good mushroom risotto there. read more
