The staff were excellent and Tracy was very patient with us at the end when we were the only ones left in the establishment. The food was excellent, the ambiance was perfect. It was a great place to celebrate our anniversary and I recommend this restaurant to anyone on the area. It is "out in the sticks" but well worth the taxi drive to and from there.

The hotel only has two rooms, a small bar, and two separate dining areas, with a beer garden outside. On our four day stay in one of the rented nearby cottages we where literally two minutes walk to the bar from the house, with three of the days we ended up here on most days at lunch time till close. Food is served at lunch times and the evenings and also we ate here three days out of four, and the food was pretty good serving the likes of Fish & chips, macaroni cheese and burgers to name a few. The bar area is small, and choice was limited, but I think this was due to the location, and locals didn't seem to go out drinking. Overall we had a great time here, and would recommend The Inn at Kingsbarns to anyone that was passing through or staying nearby.

The drinks arrived promptly with the menu. 'No rush, I'll be back in your own time'. Impressive. Bread arrived, delicious fresh bread and a bottle of water, and that without asking. After about ten minutes he came back asking if we were ready and then mentioning the specials of the day. There were two starters and two main courses on offer but our ears only heard lobster bisque and freshly caught lobster. Impossible not to order. The bisque was subtle but extremely flavoursome. The lobster arrived, in the style of thermidor, on a bed of salad. That lobster was extremely fresh as the sea could still be tasted. We were totally full and when a dessert was offered we asked for a short break. At this restaurant there was never any rush. When ready we ordered a 'simple' three scoops of ice cream and two spoons from the lovely young lady serving the desserts. It arrived in a very tall glass with whipped creams and biscuits. The server had a smile on her face. I think she made this dessert special. All in all a wonderful experience. Glad we tried The Waterside again. Thank you to the Maitre d' who received us, he is a 'good choice' (that's an in joke between us). All the staff who serve and we mustn't forget the chef and his helpers in the kitchen. The Waterside is a MUST visit if you are in the area but, I feel, with that quality of food and service very soon a reservation will need to be made. Thank you one and all.

The chicken was beautifully juicy for general pub grub and the bacon was lovely, sweet but slightly salted which gelled all the flavours of the breaded chicken and the toasted roll together. Thinking about it now, I'm getting hungry again. Every time I have a pub burger, the side salad always lets it down, every time, it's like the bars expect people not to eat it, but not this bar. The salad was crisp and fresh, served up with a deliciously sweet vinaigrette that was perfect for dipping a wee bit of the roll in. The spirit measures were 35ml and the guest ales on offer covered breweries such as Innis & Gunn and The Inveralmond Brewery (who do beers such as Lia Fail and Ossian) which justified the bar being about 60-70p more expensive than the others we visited.
