Seeing as Colin's from Dunfermline, from time to time we always head there for the day and when we were here early this week, we decided to go to Carlucci for lunch, as it's located right in the town centre and was handy. They also did a lunch menu which was 2 courses for £7.90 or 3 for £9.90, which was also appealing.
The restaurant is quite small inside. There's Italian music playing and the atmosphere was nice, and the staff who took our order and brought out the food were lovely. But the food wasn't overly impressive.
To start with I had the caprese salad, which is impossible to do wrong and tasted fine, although the plate was dusted with what I think was paprika, which I found odd. For my main course I had carbonara, and although it was a lunch menu, the portion was tiny and left me hungry, even though I've tasted much better carbonaras. That plate was also dusted, as was Colin's bolognese, so I think they do it just for effect but it doesn't really add anything and looks a but silly.
The food was fine. It's a decent place for lunch, but their dinner prices looked a bit pricey for the quality of food they were producing. I'd probably come back for lunch but not much else. read more
