The portions are very good and the tonkotsu pork was perfectly cooked. The ramen a tea were exactly what I needed after my flight.

Great hearty ramen. Everything is so tasty but I've made a huge mistake to order the spicy one…read morebecause it was unbearably spicy. We also tried the chicken broth one but it's definitely not as intense as the pork broth. If you don't have any dietary restrictions, highly recommend the pork soup. Chicken karage is very nice as well! We mixed the soy sauce and vinegar together for a dipping sauce and it cuts down the oiliness so it was perfect. Wait staff is nice and alway accommodating our request!

I had to wait a little to get in but it was still under like 15 mins. They seemed to be busy but…read moreits to be expected as they are only about a 10 seater restaurant inside with a few tables outdoors. The server was really nice and it looked like he was the only one working at the time so he was doing everything and trying his best to get me seated asap. Once I was seated, placing my order and getting my food was very quick. I ordered a lunch set and I got to say the soup base was kinda bland for a ramen which I feel like is pretty flavorful and the dumplings were just okay. The frozen ones I've had at home have more flavor...The chili oil definitely helped with the flavor though. This lunch set was a great deal though for all that and a cocktail I paid under 20 pounds. 'Asta' (as I like to simply call it) - I have no idea of the '3' moniker, or indeed where the first…read moretwo went - is as genuine a Japanese canteen as you'll find in London. I was lucky enough to, along with a colleague, be taken here on several occasions for a quick lunch by a client (indicative of how welcoming the Japanese are!) By 'genuine' I mean no dumbed-down menus, no super-slick interiors to detract from potentially average food, and no gimmicks of any kind. The place is staffed and run by Japanese nationals as any self-respecting Japanese restaurant should be - and perhaps more importantly, frequented by them regularly, too. Service is smiling and attentive and no more that it needs to be. The food is inexpensive (~£6-8 for a bento, £7-11 for ramen, udon or donburi) and so tasty. On my most recent trip I had beef ramen with tan tan (sesame paste) soup base, and my brother had salmon teriyaki on brown rice. Both dishes had generous proportions of meat/fish, and the donburi came with a side salad and pickles. The unagi (eel) is also lovely, and the place does an extensive line in pick-your-soup base noodle bowl dishes where you have the option of shoyu, miso, and sesame as mentioned above, among others. I can't speak for the takeaway bento, but they looked pretty solid and of a decent quality. Drinks come in the familiar (Coke etc) and the more, um, 'traditional' - aloe vera juice, Pocari, cold bottled green and black teas and others. This place is rather hidden away on the fringes of the City, behind Aldgate station on the Petticoat Lane side. In many ways it's a great location as it's very much a local haunt, and in others a little frustrating as even if you're working in the City it can be a fair walk to get there and back! My advice would also be to get there early (between midday and half-past) to ensure a seat, as well as before some of the more popular items on the menu disappear. In brief summary, I couldn't really recommend this place enough if you're in the area. You'll get multi-kudos from any friends Nippon friends (or appreciators of their incredible cuisine) and have a lunch to beat the hell out of an uninspired sandwich / soft-drink combo whilst spending a similarly scant amount of your hard-earned cash. As your fellow diners would say: "itedakimas!"

Their rice is so delicious I could eat it alone without any other dish. The chicken was tender and flavourful and I really liked the fried potato thing that came with the side. Another great thing about Asta is that with bento boxes you can pick a variety of cold side dishes. I recommend the cucumbers and the rice noodles. Will be back!!

please take know that the address should read as:…read more 8 Station Parade Uxbridge Road Ealing Common London W5 3LD also the map shown is indicating a wrong location! and the nearest tube station is ealing common and not kew gardens! our original plan was to try out sushi hiro nearby. unfortunately hiro was fully booked for the evening and we settled for kiraku. basically, kiraku builds itself as an izakaya restaurant. lot's of japanese patrons which is always a good sign. comprehensive menu with a bit of everything. the sashimi moriwase special was surprisingly very good. very fresh and nicely cut. the shoku carpaccio was a nice sashimi salad with garlic and olive oil. their kaki fry was well fried. the salmon porridge was simple and comforting. the grilled eggplant with cheese and miso was a little over salty. kushiyaki was ok but not outstanding. i like their crispy chicken skin. their beef tongue was nicely crunchy and chewy. the pork rolled with shiso leaf was slightly too porky in taste. the chicken ball was ordinary and so was the chicken. as for the chicken wing, one was burnt and the other was under cooked. maki wise, the ones we ordered were the kiraku special and soft shell crab. kiraku special had a generous serving of ikura but i couldnt taste any crispy salmon skin. the soft shell crab one was ordinary. in both, the rice grains seem too starchy and big. the biggest led down, food wise, has to be the special of the day which was a deep fried iberico pork. too oily outside and too dry inside. definitely not worth the money and long wait! for dessert we struggled to make the staff know what we wanted. bascially, 2 macha ice cream with azuki beans and 1 kuri ice cream with azuki beans. after going back and forth for 10 minutes, she finally understood what we wanted! sigh. my biggest complain for kiraku has to be their wait staff! very slow service and no promptness in refilling our tea despite many reminders to do so! also the food took ages to come. so much so that we even forgot we had ordered them. having said that, they must be doing well as they were packed by 8pm. i'll be back but i'll be more careful what i order in the future. Opening Hours: Tuesday - Sunday (Monday Closed) Lunch: 12 - 3pm (Last orders 2:30pm) Dinner: 6 - 11pm (Last orders 10pm)

Camembert and fried pork sushi roll?…read more Stop and imagine that for yourself. Gooey smelly French cheese, fried pork cutlet and a little bit of chutney all wrapped up in seaweed and rice and then served with the usual dish of soy sauce and wasabi. How do you think that combination will go? Hint, don't dip it in the soy/wasabi stuff. So I think from the start of this review you'll realise that Kiraku are not the traditional sushi sellers that nearby five-star Atari-Ya are. They do sell some good cuts of raw fish as sashimi, nigiri and donburi but they also do a whole lot more - salads, roasted tofu, crispy crab and the aforementioned cheese and pork maki. I'm pretty sure I still prefer the conservative sushi three doors down, especially as the mackerel at Kiraku is annoyingly the pickled kind. But Kiraku must be doing something good as it's very packed every night and usually with young Ealing Japanese having fun with the many sakes.
