Highly recommend the rib eye steak dinner 10/10. A co-worker recommended me here and they blew my mind. Great price the service was great and the place is so clean and newly remodeled. Great place all around

Always a great place for brunch! Good food and good service! Grab a table and know your number!

Great breakfast spot. The food was great. They are very generous with their portions so be ready to stuff your face :) I'm mad I really thought I took a pic of my food :( I only took a pic of my pancakes. I ate an omelette which was delicious. Pancakes were also very good! The service was awesome. Friendly staff & very attentive. The place is very clean they do have private parking and street parking is also available.

March 2026 Menu - No Prices

I eat here more than I should. So many good choices. Today was a cheddar cheese and jalapeño omelet, hash browns and grilled rye toast. So filling - had to take half home. The service is always top notch. Even though you order at the counter, they always come by your table to make sure everything is OK and if you need anything.

French toast bacon and eggs really good I love to come here, fast service and great customer service!!!!

Lately I have noticed a very big change in terms of service, they receive you very kindly and very attentive as to whether you are missing something or want more coffee, etc etc!!! Well done TOM's Team

Friendly face greeted me, looking for a cheeseburger to see if it is good enough to talk or write about, quick answer not really but the name Tom's Family stuck with me, prices are decent I'd say family affordable! Liked the Pasadena based murals do if you have friends that live nearby snd you don't want to break the bank yeah sure . One quibble , didn't like the cheese they use.

WOW! What a Deal!. Everything was fantastic, prepared and presented very well. I'd give it all a 10+ Excellent service by excellent people and the Ambiance is very welcoming.

Club Sandwich

This place always hits the spot -- I love club sandwiches and theirs is pretty tasty. Bacon could've been a bit more crispy but delicious nonetheless

Waited 15 min the line didn't move. There was 4 cars piled up. This is why no one hardly comes here. The food is ok, just go to tops.

What is the point of a drive thru if you cannot hear a single word I am saying? I screamed strawberry pancake no less than three times. I asked for hash browns and you said orange juice? You try to pass over a bag that is four containers tall and impossible to pass thru to a car window.... And of course I got NO strawberry pancakes. Never again.

beans are delicious, the rice is amazing and the Chilaquiles were nice and crispy with good flavor.

So why the 4-stars instead of the 3 I gave them nearly a decade ago? Because that burger was freakin' good! $40 good? Probably not. And their fries were pretty bad. But man... It's been a couple of days and I'm still thinking about that damn thing. PS: It seems like they're hit-or-miss, so I guess proceed at your own risk. I must've just gotten lucky that day.

Pie N Burger has always been one of the places on my list. When we were taking a walk, I purposely took a detour here. It's a no-frills diner spot that has been around since 1963 - it is what it is. **This is a cash only restaurant. They have an on-site ATM that will charge you fees. I recommend getting cash at your bank ATM before stopping by. We were trying to divvy up what we could order with what we had on us until we discovered the ATM. We ordered shareables, so we started with an one of the egg breakfasts combos, and added a side of pancakes and a lemon merengue pie to go. What stood out is the jams/preserves were house made, as well as their salsa. The salsa has a kick but it is good. I couldn't say anything bad about what we ate because it was SO good. I am craving on going back for the preserves and pancakes. I know we'll have to go back for the burgers for out next visit. We sat at the counter but our waitress was above average/excellent service. It's so nice to be somewhere so welcoming and local.

Friend, now I know what food is like in prison. The gravy was a bland, featureless runny liquid (no, even runnier than you're thinking), devoid of any seasoning whatsoever. I legitimately believe they dug a pan that used to have gravy in it out of the dirty dishes, swished some water around in it and poured it on my plate. The "biscuits" were hardly any better, lacking any hint of butter or flake, instead seeming like someone stirred up some Bisquick and threw it on the flattop grill. This meal was an insult and a punishment, and as part of a $70 check it felt like I was being personally invited to a fistfight by the dumpster. Alas, I had somewhere else to be. And somewhere else, anywhere else, is what I'll choose next time when breakfast is due. For reference, biscuits and gravy should include round, buttery, flaky biscuits using dough that was rolled out, cut, and baked. Gravy in this context is a richer, creamier milk gravy with substance, at minimum seasoned with fresh cracked pepper and perhaps some paprika. Offering a sausage gravy wouldn't hurt either. Or don't offer biscuits and gravy at all if you don't know what the f**k you're doing.

We ordered the Mac and cheese, tomato Creole soup, catfish poboy, blt, and pastrami Reuben. Then we got a peace of derby pie. Here are my thoughts. Mac and cheese: great! Super flavorful and cheesey Tomato Creole soup: so flavorful and delicious. Very comforting Catfish poboy: the fish was too bland, I think it had been frozen because I really missed out on that dirt catfish taste. Got the sweet potato fries with it which were amazing. Blt: loved the addition of bell pepper Pastrami Reuben: loved the rye bread and really good, even if a little dry Derby pie: no notes I LOVED it Want to come back some time to try the dinner menu. They were pretty busy at 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday but did not wait for a seat. Ordered the $17 burrito and was expecting something to be handheld but they do it ranchera style with red sauce and cheese topped all around it and on the sides and I'm glad they did because it was delicious. Well worth it; I eat burritos half this size for the same price in downtown LA. Ordered a side of hash browns they were solid as well. Only gripe would be that there wasn't much bacon or sausage in it (comes with both but needs more of both.) Melaniya served me proper. This was a great start we'll definitely be back to try the waffles always a gamble finding a crisp one, but they claim it so we will find out soon enough. It's a bit stuffy inside and loud as hell strange for a diner to be this loud but just saying. Still for what I ate it's an easy table pounder five star. That's a sign of a great restaurant. When we went in, the servers were welcoming and it was packed on a Friday morning. We waited a few minutes before getting to our table and our server Gabby was the sweetest. She suggested the omelette (I forgot what specific type) and I'm so glad I took her suggestion. My food was awesome, a lot better than I was expecting. At first, I thought my portion was a little small, but I couldn't even finish my plate! The food is filling, flavorful, and everything was perfect. The positive ambience is a reflection of the quality service, food, and overall perspective of this restaurant. I thought it was so beautiful to see a bunch of elderly people coming for a morning mimosa, having coffee, reading, newspapers, and just mingling with each other. It gave me something to look forward to when I get older. I got a little sad when I seen a few elderly people alone. But when I realized maybe they go to Shakers because this is where their community is, I really felt the love. Go check it out, see what I'm talking about. I promise you won't regret it.

So far, I've tried their coffee. It's not exactly the cheapest coffee out there but at least it's cheaper than Starbucks. Yesterday for lunch, I also got the turkey and cheese pita sandwich (priced decently) which was pretty good. For dinner I got a Chinese Chicken Sandwhich which was okay....but I would only eat it again if i was in need desperately for fiber. Today, I started off with the same coffee routine, but for lunch I got their Italian combo which was lasagna with salad and garlic bread stick. WOW. That lasagna was super dry. It was one of those frozen lasagna that you can buy at Costco...but even if I were to make it it would come out better. The food wasn't even kept in a steamer, but a tin foil tray so it was cold and dry. BLEH. The salad was okay, but they piled it on with ranch dressing :( And the bread stick. my GOSH! The roof of my mouth is still trying to recover from the flavorless dry plank of carbs that I was given. All that for ~$7. RIPPPPP OFFFFFFF. There is still the Chinese selection and the grill that I have yet to try. Chinese doesn't look too promising...for sure worse than Panda Express right across the street. The grill though looks good considering they actually make it for you on the spot. They also have a fried popcorn chicken and french fries you can grab and go. It looks good, but I have mainly 2 issues with it 1) It costs ~$6.50 and 2) it's WRAPPED IN SARAN WRAP IN A STYROFOAM TRAY SITTING UNDER THE HEAT TRYING TO KEEP IT WARM!!! uh...HELLO?!?! Isn't that just WAITING for cancer to happen with MELTING PLASTIC?!?!?!?! YIKES! For the sake of being on campus, it's 2 stars. They also keep the place pretty clean. But.....I'm starting to think about bringing lunch from now on....
