A modern update on the classic diner, Tom's provides quality customer service and great food. There's a very large menu, with a lot of comfort foods. Order at the counter, and then find a seat. Staff bring your food, any condiments you might like, refill your water and your coffee cup. Tip: Ask for a coffee cup to go before you leave. The portions are very generous. I liked the french toast, which was not too sweet. The big hit at our table was the breakfast burrito--more like a egg scramble that just happens to have a tortilla around it--had a good balance of eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, and veggies. This place is huge, nicely decorated and super friendly...but best of all super affordable and they are not cheap with their servings. So if you're super hungry then come here. Just tired to place an order at the drive thru but no one answered the intercom. Drove up to window and workers were inside. I have been there twice. Once I got a hot dog. It was grilled and super salty. The bun was crumbly as if it was old and dried out. Worst Ice Tea I have had anywhere. I'm jumping it back to 4 stars. I heated up my half and half in the oven the next day and the quality of the food did not diminish so for that I am happy. I eventually finished the half and half in 3 seatings but anyway, hubby and I went here (AGAIN LOL) and I just ordered the classic burger bec I wasn't that hungry and I still had some zucchini sticks and onion rings from the day before waiting at home. Hubby orderes a double classic cheeseburger. Their burgers are DELISH. idk what it is but it tastes soo FRESH as if it was straight off the grill. I love how the drrssing meshes well with the veggies too. Yum. I only ate half bec I wasnt that hungry but hubby was more than happy to finish the rest. :) and yes....we will probably be back to try out more. This was my first visit to a Tom's. The inside is very bright and new. It's kinda surprising that they don't do table service, bu the service is really friendly. It would be nice if they provided creamer at the tables...that way you don't have to get up or ask for more on coffee refills. Have driven past Tom's since they started building it. Waited a long time for them to open. We waited a week after opening to work issues out that opening places always have. My boyfriend and I split the Ham and eggs breakfast and an order of Biscuits and gravy. The Ham slice was large and had a nice smoky taste, the eggs were done correctly over medium and the hashbrowns were cooked so nicely (I am really picky about those) and the sourdough toast was great other than it didn't have butter on one slice. The biscuits and gravy were good. I like it didn't have a heavy taste. We had coffee and a Large iced tea. Both good. The place has a cheerful look and I am not a TV person but if you are they have a few. Will be back here again as most the food we saw that others were being served looked good. read more

On the positive side, the customer service here is great. Help staff regularly walk around making sure that you're doing well and offering to get you refills. It's not quite as fully staffed as a sit-down restaurant, but they reach out to you more than I'd expect for the type of establishment that it is. The prices are also affordable... comparable to Denny's or IHOP. Parking is ample and the restaurant is clean. The reason I'm giving this two stars though is because of the food. I've eaten here twice. The first time I ate a strawberry pancake combo. The eggs and sausages were fine, but the strawberries tasted pretty bad. "Artificial" would be putting it kindly. They tasted like they'd been kept beyond their expiration date and then had sugar added in order to offset the flavor. It wasn't very palatable. The second time I ate there I went with regular pancakes (which were fine) and decided to try the biscuits and gravy. A half order still gives you two good-sized biscuits and a LOT of gravy. While I appreciate the generous portions, I would have preferred a smaller size and better tasting biscuits. The biscuits lacked the warm fluffy-ness of well-made biscuits and almost didn't appear to have been fully cooked. They were tasteless without the gravy. The gravy was thick and dry by the time I got it and lacked the tanginess you expect with gravy. At the end of the day I finished 3/4ths of one biscuit and left the other behind because it was so underwhelming. Tom's also needs more 1 and 2-person seating. Most of the seating is designed to sit 4-6 (or more) people, so if you're there eating by yourself you're forced to selfishly take up an entire booth often times. It's not an efficient use of the space they have. They also could benefit from a proper queue system. The cash registers are placed in the middle of a long table, but there's no clear way to line up (do you line up along the table? or towards the door?). On my second visit I noticed people shifting their location, seemingly not sure whether they were in a line or not. Tom's is the type of restaurant that gives you a lot of food for what you order. But I wish that the food tasted better. Nothing that I ate across my two visits was especially delicious and at least one thing each time was just downright bad. I really wanted to like this place, but even the friendly customer service can't make up for its mediocre food. read more

I was looking for a place that was open late and found this place saying it closed at 11pm. (I walked in at 9:45pm) I ordered a pastrami since it was one of their signature plates. They served me the scrapes and I asked to give me a club sandwich instead because it was awful. I also received French fries that were cold. When I asked for fresh ones they brought them and the server said they were "technically closed" and she could give me a to go box for my dinner. It was 5 after 10pm. When I asked to speak to a manager to complain they told me there wasn't one.First and last time here. I never write bad reviews but in this case I made an exception. This place has all the potential to be a great place. You can see this place as a fast food diner one step below Denny's. I had the bfast burrito and it was quite big. This review is based on both the quality & taste of food and of course their service. I give them 3 stars because their food is really good and fresh, which is why it takes longer than the typical fast food spots. But they need to up their quality control before giving customers their food. We ordered their Big Boss burger (50% beef+50% bacon, with pastrami on top). I liked it, it was different, my husband didn't like the bread, and his order was wrong. Then we tried their breakfast burritos (Tom's), I enjoyed it (because my order was correct). They got my husbands order wrong, again. And just now on my quick lunch break. I called the order in advance and repeated myself too many times (once on the phone placing my order, again at the drive thru, and once more when paying for my order) , I made sure they knew I needed one polish dog "without sauce". And of course there was sauce! So I want to like these guys, but they have messed up my order 3x in a row now. Just for that fact alone, my husband is done patronizing this establishment. Service: A+ Food: C We came in craving a good burger and fries. Sadly, we were pretty disappointed. We ordered the 50/50 burger - half bacon, half beef - couldn't really taste the bacon. Cheeseburger was average. The buns were cold, not even slightly toasted. The fries were soggy and the onion rings had no flavor. We did order an Oreo milkshake, which was probably the highlight of the meal. While food here still needs some work, the restaurant itself is really nicely done. There are plenty of booths, the bathrooms are well kept, and the art on the walls makes the place look very bright and welcoming. Staff was definitely the highlight of the entire experience. We were greeted as soon as we walked into the restaurant. The cashier was super patient with us while we were placing our order and once we sat down, we were checked on at least four different times - that's more attention than we get at nice sit down restaurants. Great ambiance, great customer service, definitely family friendly. That's the good part. The not so good part is the food. Ordered the hamburger combo but wanted a peanut butter shake too. No peanut butter. What? It was only mid day. The hamburger was ok & the fries & onion rings were too much for me. My partner ordered huevos rancheros. Looked pretty good but I noticed that the Mexican rice on the plate was actually rice pilaf. The salsa on the eggs looked store bought. My partner said it tasted ok. Disgusting stench of bleach on my stainless steel utensils at the restaurant and now all over my fingers as a result. Tom's Pasadena - if you're reading this, please use the proper amount of bleach cleaning solution on your dishes as this is just disgusting. I just got home from having brunch at Tom's. When I received my food everything looked normal. The taste of the food was ok but nothing special. One thing that kept standing out is this disgusting and rancid stench of bleach as I began to eat my food. At first, I couldn't quite put my finger on where the odor was coming from. It was intermittent and I noticed that the odor would get stronger as I would bring the food up to my mouth. Since there were a couple of lady employees cleaning and wiping down tables next to me, I figured the cleaning solution they were using was likely the source of the putrid stench. I tried to dismiss the smell. As I continued eating, I still kept getting large whiffs of the bleach stench. I noticed that the workers were no longer near me at this point so it couldn't have been them. The smell was so strong that I couldnt even finish my food. Upon the last bite I was able to tolerate, I had gotten another big whiff of the smell. I finally decided to inspect closer. I smelled the food then smelled my fork. Sure enough, my fork smelled like it had just been bathed in gallons of bleach. The smell was so strong that I instantly got nauseous. I didn't bother finishing my food at this point. I just got up and left. As I got back in my car and started driving away, I noticed the smell was still persistent. I smelled my fingers and sure enough the disgusting bleach smell had rubbed off from the utensils and unto my fingers. This is one of the most unpleasant eating experiences I've ever had. The only reason I didn't give this review a one star is because the staff were actually nice. I will never be coming back here again though. I highly urge that if you decide to eat at this restaurant, that you smell your stainless steel utensils and/or plates before you begin eating as this may save you from a very unpleasant experience. Either Tom's staff is using an inordinately amount of bleach on the dishes or Tom's management doesn't have the right proportions in their cleaning solution. It's possible that it was only this day that they had a mishap when washing their dishes. Either way, this was a very unpleasant eating experience and I won't be coming back. read more

The food is (mostly) fantastic diner-type food. The grilled chicken salad, grilled chicken sandwich (with extra crispy fries), and the club sandwich are my favorites! Never been inside, but the drive thru is always on point, has given me anything I have ever asked for regarding condiments, and has never messed up my order or given me less than acceptable food. Drive thru times are a little lengthy during high traffic times but I would rather that and get my order correct and extremely fresh than to get it wrong. That reminds me, the food is always fresh. Fries don't sit around like other fast food places. The best part of this is that every time we pull up to the window, we meaning my two large dogs that go with me everywhere, they get slices of bacon. I'm only giving 4-stars because any time I go to a drive thru my dog now things its getting bacon (wink wink) and because the prices are pretty steep. read more

Good standard American diner food and huge portions. If you have three people at the table, only one needs to order fries. Today I discovered that their chicken filet sandwich is delicious but way too gloppy to hold in your hands to eat. Between the sauce, the lettuce, the tomato and the nice soft bun.... Yeah, easier to eat it with a knife and fork. Also found that the kids' PB&J can only be made with crunchy PB. Our three year old guest prefers creamy. We distracted her enough that she ate it. Kind of a noisy environment, especially when the lunch crowd is there. The staff is super friendly. Pros: + Parking is free, fairly plentiful, and the parking lot is brand new and clean. + The manager was friendly and enthusiastic, and was available to answer questions about the menu prior to ordering at the counter. + Good variety of foods from Mexican to American to breakfast to Greek gyros and salad. + Prices were fair. + Restaurant is clean and well lit with big windows all around. + Greek salad was big and flavorful. For $9 you get meat (gyro or chicken), lettuce, cherry tomato, kalamata olive, red onion, dressing, feta, and a very nice hot fresh baked pita bread. + Patty melt was on fresh rye bread, cooked well and had flavorful crispy fries. Cons: - No ability to refill your own drink, but the servers come by with regularity. I'd prefer to be able to use the soda machine, but I guess they have their reasons. Overall Toms is a good deal and a nice dining experience. They have long hours, 6 AM to 11 PM, and serve their whole menu at all times, so you can have dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner if you want. read more

They offered refills on my drink and more than twice asked me if they could do anything else with a genuine smile. This crew was trainned very well. Id like to congratulate the Management.
