The weekdays are easier to get a table or bar seat. I love all the burgers, wings, hot dogs and shakes (Boozy or regular). Cons: I basically love everything on the menu EXCEPT the crinkle fries and the taco salad. (The crinkle fires I never liked but I am starting to see them more in some bars. They seem to not as crunchy as the regular fries and hold more grease including being more mushy then crunchy as mentioned before. The taco is like a Salsa salad which greens and Salsa. The taste is not bad but it becomes a wet salad). Pros: Everything else on the menu fantastic! My favorites: Turkey burger , mushroom burger, providence burger bar special, chili cheese hot dog, fried Mac and cheese, Strawberry Shake with a frozen fruit INCLUDING the Garlic Parmesan Buffalo wings. The only place I know can do hot dogs this great besides wieners from Olneyville and Babbas! Service: Incredible and friendly service. The keto bowl looked as promising as anything else so I grabbed that and an order of wings. I also noticed the menu was a bit smaller than your average "buy everything frozen and throw it in the deep fryer" kind of place, so I saw that as a good sign. I've got to say that it was not the ho-hum, utility delivery place you get when ordering from some random new place. (The battered fries in the picture are definitely frozen and onion rings probably are, too... but really good fries from scratch, don't hold well in closed containers, and are a PITA and tough to do at delivery place volume.) The wings were a bit pricey compared to other spots, but if I was that picky I'd have ordered delivery direct. That said, they were actually totally worth it. Not too many people realize that making a good buffalo wing is a pretty technical process-- the wings hell to dry out, easy to make tough by not cook/par-cooking them enough, etc. Traditional buffalo sauce is tricky because butter sauces break really easily, so most places just use something straight out of a bottle. This was better than that. Skin wasn't super crispy but if you have sauced wings with crispy skin delivered, you will also either have dry-as-hell meat, have to smell wings all day long because you live immediately next-door to a great wing spot, or get guff from the genie for wasting one of your three wishes on perfect delivery chicken wings. That said the wings: were naked weren't rubbery weren't dry either were sauced with (approximately) traditional buffalo sauce flavor-wise (I did taste a teeeeeny bit of garlic which worked great) which was rich but not broken-- if that's bottled wing sauce I want to buy some, but I doubt it is. The keto bowl was also very good. Great amount of meat for the money. Must have been 12 ounces post cooking weight? They said steak, but I'm betting it's shin or another flavorful cut like that which they slow cooked in a CVAP or similar. Was steakier in texture than a pot roast or something, though. Topped with a generous amount of cheese, grilled veg and greens. The finely processed guac was simple, fresh, clean tasting and straightforward.They weren't cheap on the cheese either. The beef was a tiny bit dry, though that probably had more to do with it being delivery than anything else. I would have dug the options of getting a drizzle of vinaigrette or some other kind of acid on those greens. Definitely want to try one of the burgers when I'm eating carbs.

The beer selection is another reason I enjoy Chomp. There's enough variety to make choosing a beer part of the experience rather than simply grabbing whatever happens to be on tap. Prices are also pretty reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, which is increasingly something I notice because restaurant prices have a funny way of creeping upward when you're not paying attention. The location is another part of the appeal. Chomp sits in a great little part of Providence where you can easily make an evening out of being in the neighborhood. There are plenty of other restaurants, shops, and places to wander around nearby, so it doesn't feel like you're making a special trip just to eat and then immediately getting back in the car. Tonight, though, I have to give a special shout-out to Bella, who was our server. She was outstanding. Friendly, personable, attentive without hovering, and genuinely helpful. She suggested adding bacon to my Smokey and the Bandit, which I probably wouldn't have thought to do on my own. I'm very glad she mentioned it because it was an excellent call. Sometimes the best recommendations are the simple ones, and she nailed it. One piece of advice if you're planning on coming here: make a reservation if you can. Chomp can fill up quickly, and given how good the food is, that really shouldn't come as much of a surprise. It's the kind of restaurant where people come back because they already know they're going to have a good meal, and I'm certainly part of that group. Five stars from me. Great food, good beer, reasonable prices, a fantastic Providence location, and genuinely good service. I've tried enough of the menu over the years to know that Chomp has plenty of options, but apparently I'm still incapable of walking through the door without ordering that Smokey and the Bandit. The food here tastes really good but the sandwiches I just had a steak sandwich for 14 bucks and I would even pay half price there's barely any steak and the cheese was smushed to one side still did taste good . I did have a large calzone before pepperoni sausage and cheese and maybe a dozen pieces of sausage and pepperoni throughout the whole thing not asking for tons of it but that definitely was not worth 26 bucks more like 15 simply just because a very lack of toppings the sandwich more meat not 3 oz I could literally go to Market Basket and I did last week for a good steak sandwich six bucks or seven I can't remember and I am picky about my sandwiches if the prices of that high add a little more cuz it is cheap if you don't do that considering what I just had still though pretty tasty halfway there . read more

Best pizza in Warwick. They swore to it. They wouldn't accept any other explanation. But I lived in Hoxsie. I had never been there. I had never seen it. So for years, Little John's existed mostly as a story other kids told me about a pizza I couldn't try for myself. It was Bigfoot. At my house when I was growing up, my mother or my grandmother cooked dinner every night. Pizza was the very rare night off. A few Saturday nights a year, we'd get takeout pizza, and Don's was four minutes away. Perfectly good pizza. Great meatball sandwiches. In my parents' minds, our pizza problem had already been solved. Pizza was pizza. Unless it was Twins. Twins was Destination Pizza. We'd drive there for that. But even at fourteen, I had already decided that "pizza is pizza" was not a serious position. Little John's was only a few minutes farther away. It might as well have been 5,000 miles away. Nobody in my house was casually driving across Warwick because a fourteen-year-old had developed opinions about pizza. But, a couple of years later, Dougie Almeida got a Volkswagen Beetle. And Dougie lived right over by Little John's. The floorboards had rusted out badly enough on that car that down by the pedals you could watch the road move underneath you. But none of that mattered. It was transportation. It was freedom. It was what we had. So we went. I don't remember every detail of that first pizza. I remember the verdict. The stories were right. More than forty years later, now, the keys are mine. My parents can't drive anymore. Once a week, I pick them up and take them out to lunch, and the job of deciding what we're eating became mine. Usually pizza, because that's what I do. So on Columbus Day, I took them to Little John's. I did so mostly because it filled a square on my Rhode Island: The Pizza State bingo card, an important one, actually, but that's not the point. The whole thing felt more than a little Back to the Future. They had the keys when I was a kid, and dinner was always their decision. Now they were sitting across from me waiting to hear what I had ordered. Then the pizza arrived. A rectangle cut in a grid. A spatula standing in the middle. Pepperoni curled into little cups. Black olives everywhere. There was a lot going on there. I flipped a slice over. The bottom was crisp, a golden brown so even it looked painted on. And the crust held other surprises. Light and airy. Soft through the middle. A very pleasant, unique chew. Toppings are piled on, but the crust carrying them never feels heavy or dense. The sauce is sweet enough to announce itself right away, and it stays with you from the first bite to the last. The pepperoni crisps and crunches around the edges. The olives bring salt and that darker, earthy note that keeps the sweetness in check. A loaded pizza riding on a surprisingly light carriage. Somewhere along the way, I stopped comparing every bite to try to recall something I ate when I was sixteen. Memory doesn't keep pizza that way. What it kept was the feeling that some pizza is worth passing a bunch of other pizzas to get. Little Johns is still one of them. On the wall behind us was a sign that said, "All you need is love and pizza." I had gone there wondering how much Little John's had changed in 40 years. The pizza hadn't really changed. But we all changed around it.

Foo see psychedelic sign for pizza from some kind of acid trip. Sign kinda say Little John so the sad Foo go across street. "Hi, name Foo!" "Sit anywhere." So Foo take nice booth and look around. Little John is bistro John. So nice, so bistro with a big window for the take outs. "What'll it be pally," said polite server. "Foo have Bud Light and small cheese well done and garlic sauce to dip! Foo loves to dip!" "Okay, grunt," says friendly server. When Foo pie arrives it is Greek Foo thinks. IFoo pat down some grease on the top and grab a slice. So hot Foo have second thought and take swig beer first to cool mouth. When Foo eats pie Foo says, "7.3." Half pie gone and beer gone and Foo gets check given and lays down the AMEX Black to impress at Little John's. "You want a box?" "That would be nice." "Here." "Xie xie," says Foo with nice head bow. Foo, me, the reviewer of this review gets to parking lot and it is really hot out. Foo sad he leave no stack of grat like Foo do James Bond swagger style but then Foo look at box and say to Foo self, "7.2 now!"

Because I know about this little hidden gem already, I was driving home after a long day and I wasn't going to pass it without stopping. This is what I'd call emotional support pizza. Not a pilgrimage. Not a revelation. Just a really solid pie from a place that knows what it's doing and doesn't need to make a fuss about it. Pepperoni and black olive for me today. The crust had that chew you want, cooked through, some golden brown color on the bottom. The sauce was rich tomato with garlic running underneath the cheese, present enough to know it's there without fighting for attention. The olives were generous and distributed like someone thought about where they landed, not just dropped from a height. The pepperoni is cupped and charred slightly at the edges. The toppings-to-cheese ratio was right. It arrived fast and it arrived hot. This is what a revered neighborhood pizza place is supposed to be. Maria's does it. It's primarily takeout, four tables, busy foot traffic in and out the whole time I was there. They do good business and they know what their business is. I sat down anyway because I tend to be an iconoclast, and it was a fine visit. If you live nearby, you already know about this place. If you don't, that's between you and your neighborhood. Maybe you should move.

The staff was very courteous and the whole ordering/paying process was as it should be - easy! I took it home and it had just cooled enought to eat it. This is the type of pizza I love. A thinker crust, loaded with mozzarella, and a nice sauce that was not overwhelming. The sausage had a nice spice to it. (For the record, I am not a fan on New Haven style pizza, which seems to be popular in RI - this is not that. Nor is it New York style - which I do like BUT not over the style that Maria's serves.) I aslo added some wings to the order (this time spicy BBQ). Those were good as always. It also should be said that I had left over pizza and it reheated nicely! They now are my go to pizza place.

Their prices are very competitive compared to others; For example See Below: Large French Fry (From Sammy's) was $4.25 Large French Fry (From PVD Pizza) was $5.75 Almost every item I ordered was almost a full $1 or more cheaper from Sammy's than It's other competing stores and the taste was well-delivered. I had placed an order around 9:14PM and accidently selected "Pick-Up" when ordering not realizing the mistake I made later on. Sammy's calls me up 10 minutes before they're closing and asked if I was picking up my order. I was confused and said I believe I ordered Delivery, but the receipt had been marked for Pickup after double-checking. I made the mistake. Even though it was only 10 minutes before closing they offered to deliver the food I ordered. It was still nice and hot, and delivered to me even after I made the mistake of marking it as pick-up instead of delivery. Ultimately Sammy's went above and beyond to make this customer happy and I wanted to show the gratitude with this review. P.S The Pastrami Grinder is one of the best I've had in a long time.

Apparently Lauren's birthday is a pizza festival now…read more For Day Two, I met up with her at The Pizza Nomad in the Center of New England because they have a new pizza called the Detroit Slim. I had questions. Mostly about how something this thick gets to call itself slim. We ordered one cheese and one pepperoni and settled in. Then we saw the pizza, and suddenly Detroit Slim made sense. The answer is geometry. It isn't slim from the side. Not even close. It's slim from above. Instead of the big rectangular Detroit-style pizza most of us know, this thing is long and narrow, cut into four substantial pieces. I immediately loved the size. It gives you everything I want from Detroit-style pizza without requiring what sometimes feels like a contractual obligation to an enormous pan of it. Four pieces. Manageable. Plenty of pizza. But the crust is what got me. Look at the picture of Lauren holding up that cross-section. That's the story. The inside is almost absurdly soft, smooth and airy. Big pockets run through a light, pillowy structure that looks nothing like what you're expecting from the weight of the slice in your hand. Then turn it over. The bottom is golden brown, blistered and crisp enough to make noise. That's the trick. You bite through this loud, crunchy shell and immediately hit something soft, smooth and almost delicate inside. Crunch, then pillow. The two textures shouldn't occupy the same piece of dough this comfortably. But they do. And around the perimeter, things get even better. Cheese escapes down the sides and meets the hot pan, leaving behind those dark, crispy pieces hanging off the edges. The stuff that looks almost burned in the pictures? That's treasure. The sauce has enough presence to survive everything happening around it. You still taste tomato beneath all that cheese, crust and rendered pepperoni. The cheese itself is really good, with enough flavor to be more than just the thing holding everything together. And that pepperoni was fantastic. Some cups. Some curls. Some lies flat against the cheese. The edges go dark and crisp while the centers render their fat into everything underneath them. There is a point with pepperoni where "burned" and "perfect" become separated by about thirty seconds. I like living dangerously close to that line. Pizza Nomad does too. There is also, for reasons I cannot explain, a full-sized medieval knight standing guard over the pizza. I respect this. If you're going to make an inch and a half thick pizza called Detroit Slim, there is no reason a knight can't stand guard over it. The Detroit Slim is a collection of contradictions. It's thick without being heavy. Soft and seriously crunchy. Small enough to feel manageable, substantial enough that nobody is going home wondering what we're having for lunch tomorrow. But I keep coming back to that crust. That soft, smooth, airy interior. The blistered bottom. The cheese cooked hard against the edges. Crispy pepperoni on top of all of it. Every layer has a different job. And somehow, every one of them makes noise. Day Two of Lauren's birthday pizza week is in the books. At this point, I've accepted that her birthday lasts a week. I see no compelling reason to challenge this.
