If a walking talking donut existed, you likely would not find it at Gourdough's food trailer…read more However, they do have some mutant large and incredibly creative sweet and savory donuts. The hubs and I decided to split the Big Elvis donut with house made peanut butter icing, fresh grilled bananas, grilled bacon and honey). What is not to like about this combination of ingredients? This savory donut's base was Gourdough's (play on words) signature sourdough donut and then layered with each of the ingredients. The layering of ingredients and flavors created a 5-alarm palate explosion. The donut was delicious...better and better with each bite. Wow, wow, wow! Crunch...flavor...smokiness...crunch...flavor...smokiness! We have not had a donut quite like this one. Maria, our donut chef, boldly told us that it was going to be best donut we had ever eaten. Such a bold claim...however, Maria came with "receipts". Total donut nirvana... Gourdough's is in a food truck park with ample seating outside and a few of cushioned love seats. Superb experience...

Crazy novelty donuts!!…read more This place has over the top donuts that still taste good! Unlike some of the other Austin donut locations like VooDoo or The Salty, I feel like Gourdoughs is at the intersection between unique style and good taste. I enjoyed both, but def preferred the Naughty or Nice! I will say the Gummy snake on the baby rattler was a little dry. It is a food trailer, but they do have seating outside. They have Christmas lights which are very pretty, but I went at night in mid October so I wasn't facing the brutal Texas heat. They have really good hours, perfect for a late night snack. The workers were quick with our food. They call it out and you go pick it up from the trailer. I will say it looked mostly like paid parking, but we risked it & didn't pay as we were probably there for less than 30 minutes.

One of our favorite post-pool summer treats! The kids especially enjoy the Violet Crown and Brown…read moreSugar Milk Tea soft serve, which they wish were a full time menu item. But perhaps best of all in their eyes--the icy cold patio self-serve water. "No one else gets their water so cold! " Will be back often and recommend to friends!

First time checking this place out last weekend. A couple things that immediately put us off had to…read moredo with sanitation. Their patio area was FILTHY: tables with dirt and crumbs, napkins on the floor, grime. It was just gross. Then, in the very small space inside where you order, somebody brought in a massive slobbering dog (NOT a service dog) and the staff were completely blasé about it. So not so much into health codes here apparently. We each ordered a taiyaki, and also got 3 macarons and 2 donuts. The ube macaron had great flavor but was completely stale, so it sucks that they are serving old food. The vanilla-passionfruit and yuzu were much better (and fresher). As for the chocolate donut, we liked the flavor but we're not the biggest fans of mochi because something the texture makes it feel like you're eating something raw. Same issue with the pumpkin donut. We do have to say that the taiyakis were awesome. We had recently tried SomiSomi and these ones were definitely better. The "fish" has a great balance of chew and crisp, and we loved the consistency of the soft serve. One of us got the pumpkin and it had such a pleasant light flavor to it that wasn't cloying or artificial. So good. One of us had to get ube and black sesame in a cup because you couldn't swirl them and both flavors were delicious, as was the unique red bean paste (which we fell for when we were in Japan this past summer). If not for the sanitary conditions and semi-catatonic workers, this would be four stars. We can see ourselves coming back again at some point, and hopefully they can train their staff to clean up, smile, and not let customers bring filthy animals into a confined space. Three stars for now.
