Was craving a sandwich from a local spot (not a local) , found this place on Yelp & decided to give it a try. Upon pulling into the parking lot , it seemed packed already. To be fair , it was right at lunch time. & it was busy inside , but we got our sandwich's pretty quickly , & was able to find a table by the time we got our food. Came down to St George for vacation and needed a quick bite to fuel up for our adventures. We found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I ordered a Barnes and it did not disappoint. The sourdough bread was tender. The fillings plentiful and I'm a sucker for a pickle slice. Also, we got water cups and our cashier filled it with the best pebble ice. They also had their own condiment station and they had anything you could wish for on a sandwich. The location is clean, a bit on the older side but it just adds to its charm. We stopped by for a quick sandwich in between soccer games. The interior of the restaurant was a little warm, but we got our food to go. Ordering was easy and staff was friendly. We loved that they don't put any condiments on your sandwiches and instead have a condiment station. I loved that they had pickled onions in the condiment station! Tried the pinup and it was super yummy. All 4 of my picky or particular kids all gave their sandwiches a 10/10. My most particular eater loved their thinly sliced lettuce. We had heard about Tom's from a local and decided to try it out today. We ordered the Leslie and the Redneck. Both were great and the homemade mustard was awesome! We stopped by for a quit sandwich. We ordered the trap, which sounded delicious, with ham, pastrami and salami, but the ham was the dominant flavor. We were home for more pastrami. We Got the sandwich to go and when we get home we realized they didn't put any lettuce on it. Lettuce definitely would have made the sandwich better. read more

I ordered the Barnes sandwich on sourdough, the potato salad, and Arnold Palmer. The sandwich was delicious, the bread is really soft. The potato salad was good but needed more salt and pepper. New York style deli. I don't how it stacks up to actual New York delis, I've never really been. You try to talk about deli sandwiches and some random NYer always jumps out the bushes with "VUDDA YOU KNOW FROM SANDVICHES?" I really don't care dude the relative quality of NY sandwiches is pretty irrelevant to me when it's 3000 goddamn miles away. Anyway. Three sandwich sizes ranging from about $7 to $10, even the smallest is a decent size. You get some meat combination with lettuce and tomato and then you go over to a fixins bar to add sauces, onions, pepperoncinis, etc. to taste. The only suggestion I would make is, when they wrap to go they place the tomatos in such a way that you have to put fixins on top of them, but then when they wrap it up tight the tomatos burst out of the bread and push everything you put on top up out of the sandwich making it kind of a sloppy mess. I don't know what the technique is to fix that but there's gotta be something. Also good because when the little high school / middle school mutants are flooding the local restaurants off South Bluff between 11-12 (seriously I used to get detention for that shit and they just let them roam free, Utah is crazy), they don't come up here and bother with this place, they only go to fast food places. read more

When I order a pastrami and Swiss cheese sandwich, I have the expectation that I can find the pastrami with out going on a dense forest hunt through lettuce and the bread. I got a roast beef, ham, and salami sandwich on sour dough bread. So good! There's just something so fresh and good about layered lunch meat. They had a good drink and chip selection and a condiment bar where you could dress your own sandwich. Lots of choices of meats and you can get a hot or cold sandwich. Visiting St George on vaca, I was running an errand with my Dad and we popped over for a quick bite at Tom's. Bam! This place rocks it!! Super plentiful with their meat portions, the spread amount was perfect. The bread was crusty and flaky on the outside, with that soft, slightly chewy inside. The way sandwich bread was meant to be! I would avoid this place despite some of the good reviews. I had what I call a bread sandwich. Very little meat and a couple of tomato slices which I think is unusual for a deli. The cashier was unfriendly and the place wasn't all that clean. While I like to support local businesses I would definitely suggest Jimmy John's or Subway at least you'd get a real sandwich with a respectable amount of meat. read more

It's hard to mess up deli sandwiches and Tom's did not disappoint. The breads were fresh and soft which made a nice base for the sandwich. I really enjoyed my sourdough. The meats and veggies were also fresh. What I really loved more than anything was being able to add my toppings myself. I hate going to Subway and asking for more or less of this and that. This place is tucked back in a strip mall with packed parking lot. The choice meat cuts is good and the sandwich bread is soft and fresh. You get a lot of meat and cheese for the size of the sandwich, but a little too much lettuce. They have red onions, peppers, and a couple dressings you can add to your sandwich after they make it. Menu features hot and cold sandwiches, many featuring pastrami.For better or worse, this location does not put condiments on sandwiches and instead directs you over to a condiment bar with different types of mayo, mustard, relishes, and additional veggie toppings to add to your sandwich to your liking. This concept is not great, IMO- if I wanted to fully customize my own sandwich, I'd make it myself. When I go to a deli, I go for high quality meats and cheeses paired with the appropriate condiments by someone far more knowledgeable than myself. Pastrami sandwich with Swiss and a very bland sauerkraut was unremarkable and on the small side with a meager portion of meat and heap of 'kraut. Not balanced in proportions, not balanced in flavor. Interior of store itself is basic and plain. If other reviews didn't tell me they'd been here for years, I would have cut them some slack for being new- looks like they just moved into an old office building, dragged in some tables and hung up a menu.
