Surprised I never reviewed this place. I've been coming here on and off for many years. I don't dine at bbq place a lot since I smoke my own stuff. I can say this place is my favorite place for rib tips. They are always consistantly good, not like Famous Dave's Ordered some rib tips, pulled pork sandwich, fries, onion strings, and fried zucchini. Rib tip always good as usual, pretty tender and smokey. Pulled pork sandwich was also good, not too dry. I've had their coleslaw before and it is also pretty good. I do like their jalapeño Mac and cheese. Fries I ordered was big fail, they weren't crispy and it ended up big lump of semi soggy potatoes. Onion stings was pretty tasty, but the fried zucchini was also fail. First time ordering it from here. Huge slice and the corn meal batter did not go too well. Service was great as always, friendly staff. This is not my favorite BBQ place but never fails me on what I order. Hence why I've been coming here for years.. Forgot to take picture of the receipt but it was around $48 before tip.

Very disappointing. Don't know what's happening with with Toms, but they lost me as a customer. I stopped in for a Chicago dog on a Saturday morning. I'm looking at the menu on the counter and the price was $4.99. The young woman rang me up and said $6.50. I pointed to their menu and said should be closer to $5.50. She said we don't use that. Look above at the menu, it's $5.99. I told her lose the menu on the counter. She didn't. Then her point of sale machine asked for an 18% tip. The dog was brought out to me. No pickle spear, only 1 small pickle chip and 3 pieces of cucumber. Sorry, but a Chicago dog has a pickle spear, not sliced cucumbers. And it had way too much celery salt. You guys blew it.

Our experience ordering takeout from Tom's bbq for the first time fell short. We never dined here before so we thought we would give them a try and order take out. Food took a long time to be ready, chicken was undercooked and the brisket was dry and didn't have much flavor. Friday night, restaurant was very busy and the line was almost out the door after we ordered. We thought this must be a very good sign. We ordered 3 2 meat plates, brisket and chicken, upgraded one meal to corn bread, and got Mac and cheese, coleslaw, fries, potato salad for sides. Food took close to 40 min to be out. By the time the food got home, it was less than warm. We immediately noticed that the corn bread was not there despite paying more for it. Brisket was dry and had very little flavor. It was ok with the warm bbq sauce. Chicken as seen in the picture was all undercooked in all 3 plates so we ended up tossing it. Also, they don't have sauces other than bbq. We were hoping for a mustard based sauce for the chicken, as it goes really well with it. As for the sides, none were impressive but slaw was good. Fries were just ok, Mac and cheese was fine and the potato salad was nothing special. The dinner roll was store bought quality. Prices are somewhat similar to other bbq places but we were not happy with the food and the flavors were underwhelming. I'm sure it's still a favorite for many but it is not ours.

The onion is still crunchy and they are never greasy. This time I shared the Steak & Cheese sandwich as well. Wow! That is huge and delicious! No way I could eat a full one on my own. The meat was so tender with American cheese, onions, mushrooms and green peppers. My only adjustment would be lighter on the peppers and a little more mushrooms. The place is clean and friendly. Don't let the Mesa strip mall keep you away. After eating, check out the produce market across the street for some great deals!

First things first, it was hot in the restaurant, potentially the A/C was not working as well as it should have been or something, but it was not super comfortable. The service was good, I didn't get her name, a younger woman waited on me and she was very kind and did the best she could. The food came out super slow, I ordered empanadas to start, the waitress said they burned the first order (I appreciated that didn't just serve me overdone empanadas lol) once they finally arrived they were just unfortunately bland, and just kind of lacked authenticity. When she finally brought out my main dish, she even apologized for the wait and said "I had to go yell at them". For a main entree I ordered the French dip with onion rings, another reviewer mentioned they were the best they had had. The meat was kind of tough and dry (which is odd for a French Dip, and everything just lacked flavor. Even the au jus really had no kind of salt or much flavor to it. I really hoped after seeing how everyone else rated this place that I had found that little hole in the wall spot putting out killer food that we all long for, sadly this wasn't it.

The queso was rich without being too heavy, and the mustard added a nice contrast. For my meal, I had the Caesar salad topped with a bistro steak cooked a perfect medium rare. The romaine was crisp, the garlic-anchovy dressing bold, and the garlic croutons and parmesan tied everything together. The steak was tender, flavorful, and elevated the salad. At the table, we also ordered the cheesesteak with Angus beef, roasted peppers and onions, Havarti cheese, and garlic aioli served on a baguette, with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was hearty and satisfying, and the fries were really good The wagyu burger was another standout--topped bacon, Gruyère and smoky blue cheese, caramelized onions, tomato jam, and garlic aioli on a pub bun. The beef and bacon were fabulous and the fries cooked to perfection Jake, our server, was terrific--attentive, friendly, and helped make the whole experience even better. We finished with the butterscotch bread pudding topped with vanilla gelato and caramel sauce, which was the perfect ending--warm, comforting, and just the right amount of sweetness Overall, a great patio dining experience with flavorful dishes, excellent service, and plenty of variety.

Mason was on point with all aspects of service, he was attentive, welcoming, and really made us feel at home. I was also impressed with the new bartender whose name I didn't catch but it was her first night and I would have never known unless she told me. She was friendly personable and slinging drinks like she'd been there for a while. Great job to both of them! As for the food, it was phenomenal as expected but a special call out needs to be made for the butterscotch bread pudding. It was complementary for my birthday and I probably would have never tried it before but it turned out to be the best bread pudding I've had in ages. So tender and sweet delicious!! 5 stars. Highly recommend!

Much to our dismay, the restaurant was closed to focus on catering. Luckily, though, It reopens for pop-ups. This morning I saw an Instagram post announcing that there would be a brunch pop up today, so we got up and got ready to go. It really is tucked away in the corner of plaza and goodbye Safeway. Inside is a small dining room with a bar, and through the rolling doors is a patio with outdoor seating. You can see the kitchen through the plexiglass divider, and there is bar seating along the divider so you can watch the cooking. There's a great, colorful mural on one wall and some fun lighting fixtures and art. Today's pop up was packed when we arrived. We grabbed the last two chairs which were on the bar overlooking the kitchen. The menu had seven choices. Of course we ordered two different things so we could share, but we skipped cocktails. We ordered: *Steak chilaquiles Christmas style (both red and green chile) served with a side of beans and talked with an egg *Green chili pork hash served with a side of beans talked with an egg Both were delicious! We both ordered scrambled eggs, and I'm pretty sure it was more than an egg. I'm not sure how they cook those eggs but they were the best ever. The pinto beans had green chili in it and was so good. I'm from New Mexico, and these tasted like the beans that you rarely find outside of New Mexico. The steak on my chilaquiles was really good - - thin sliced and tender. I was able to easily cut it with just a butter knife. The pork in the hash was so yummy. What are scrumptious brunch! It was nice to sit overlooking the kitchen, as it was quite a show to watch the chef. I was amazed at how over easy eggs were tossed and caught in the pan without the yolks breaking. Heck, I can't even flip eggs with a spatula without breaking the yolk! Anytime I've overlooked a chef cooking, I'm totally in awe of their amazing skills, and this was no different. I really recommend Tucked Away, just as I did when it was a regular restaurant. Follow them on Instagram to be alerted to pop ups. You won't regret it!
