As a tourist in NYC, I needed to get my bagel fix and I'm so glad this was the first spot I came to. If there's a long line, don't be intimidated. It went by so quick and the workers, while very fast-paced, are friendly. I got the leo because I love a lox with some egg and just wow, this bagel was absolutely amazing. It was cooked so well and was light and fluffy. The lox and egg came together so beautifully for an amazing pairing of flavors. My only wish is I got a bagel with some schmear but that'll be for the next time I go. read more

Was totally deceived as we approached Tompkins Square Bagels and believed there was no line out the door. Come to find out, the lines formed in the back of the store and looped around to the counter! The line did go by quickly though, and it helps to have a person take orders down the line. I picked something random to try to avoid ordering the same things in my group. While some of our bagels were standouts, there were some misses. My pastrami bagel, The Koch, included egg, scallion cream cheese & red onion. I thought the combination was mild and I would prefer a different cheese in the bagel instead of cream cheese, which I could swap next time if they allowed. My other friend's bagel, the MCA, was a veggie bagel. It was loaded with lots of tomatoes, a runny egg, and an avocado mash that made the bagel soggy. Overall, I'd stick to the specialties, if it's your first time, as I thought the Triple Crown bagel sandwich was the most flavorful because of all the ingredients in it. Really solid spot for bagels with quick service, so do not be intimidated by the line! Overall, a solid pick for NY bagels, but might take some tries to figure out what is your go to bagel. read more

Was busier than I expected but had a good flow throughout. There are multiple steps to ordering before paying at the register but we had help every step of the way. The bagels were good but the flavors were much more mild than expected. Ordered four bagel items (and 2 bakery items) with two of our bagel orders incorrect. Not a great look. The schmears and sandwich "toppings" were fantastic--sold flavors and generous amounts--but really wished there was more oomph from the bagels themselves. Our total was about $60 for a breakfast bagel, a fish and schmear bagel, two bagels with sweet schmear, and two cookies, before taxes and tip. Again, with two of our items incorrect (wrong bagel for one, wrong schmear for another). The wait was also quite long with others who came after us getting out significantly before us, and with a lot of confusion around our order name (I'm NOT Danielle). read more

There's menu displaying their sandwiches, bagels, coffee, etc that they offer. When you enter there's a sign of where to order. Someone takes your order and with that slip you pay and wait for it. I order the breakfast burrito on a wrap. I would say within 5 minutes I received my order. There was a decent crowd but they were handling orders well. Would definitely come back to try one of their bagels. read more

If there's two things about me it's 1. I love a bagel and 2. I love cream cheese. I came to satisfy both loves at Tompkins Square Bagels on Thursday morning. It was quite crowded around 10 AM but super efficient. A man was taking orders, then I paid, and within 2 min they had my food for me. The bagel was well toasted with great flavor. The cream cheese was well flavored and salted, and very generous, which is all I want in a bagel with cream cheese. The sandwiches all look very intriguing so I'll definitely be cancel to try one at some point! read more

One of my favorite bagel spots in NYC. A must visit whenever I'm in town. They have a massive selection of bagels and spreads. I love the service, the people are so friendly and helpful. A whopping bagel at 6.09oz for $1.95. The bagels have the same quality as their other locations-- dense, pillowy, soft, and flavorful. This new spot is welcomed in the UES and is going to be staple for me now. The line is bustling on the weekends and there is a dining area in the back but almost impossible to get a spot because people annoyingly save spaces before getting their bagels... a few spots inside and standing space, along with 2 tables outside. read more

Very excited for this new TSB location! Same fresh bagels and a variety of toppings. You can order your classic bagel, bfast sandwiches and other specialty sandwiches. They had some sweets that also looked tasty. I got the wheezer which was packed full of flavor. Busy on Sat with a long line but moved relatively quickly. I came here to try the french toast bagel and was satisfied. I was worried it was going to be too sweet but it wasn't and it paired really well with the cream cheese and bacon. I was also very satisfied with the amount of bacon they gave. I did a pick up order so I wouldn't have to wait in line but when i went at around 11:30AM on a Sunday, there were only a few people in line. Service is quite quick, the line moves fast and one staff member is coming to get your order so have your order by the time they come and pay after. We ordered the french toast bagel toasted with apple cinnamon cream cheese (recommended by staff member, tasted delicious - they really put a lot of cream cheese on it which is good), we also got a sausage, egg and cheese on a sesame bagel, toasted as well. There a few tables to stand and eat your bagel at, many beverages to choose from and same with bagels and cream cheeses! Staff is friendly and welcoming too! read more

Staff was super helpful and on top of handling a crowd. There's signage that lists out everything they have plus bagels and cream cheese and smoked meats/toppings on display in their cases/shelves. You order from a staff member who writes it on a ticket. THEN you take the ticket to the cashier, pay, and then wait for them to call out your order. There's plenty of outdoor, covered seating in the back! It wasn't too crowded in a Sunday morning on a holiday weekend so definitely a good stop for a chill bagel experience. As a native New Yorker, the OG location has been on my "to try" list for maybe decades now. Thankfully I had the chance to come to this location instead recently and all these years later, it was well worth the wait. I was in a time crunch so was a bit stressed when I saw the line. Fortunately they have a very efficient system where they take your order while you're on the line, so by the time you go up to pay - the bagel is there and ready for you! Phew, I was so pleasantly surprised because I thought I had to continue waiting after paying. But before I paid and was still waiting, I was joined by my nephew who was so excited to be there, watching the orders being prepared in the open kitchen. The nice man who had taken my order earlier noticed the kid and went to the back to grab him a warm rainbow bagel on the house! It was such a kind gesture and we are so grateful. We turned out to have enough time to quickly devour the fresh, delicious bagels in the back garden. It's not East Village but still worth the hype. read more

I was looking forward to trying this place. It was very busy and there was someone taking orders standing in the open area. Then you lined up to pay. I got a basic fried egg on a buttered everything bagel. It took forever to come out. I would have left had I not already paid. The place was uncomfortable while waiting. Just too many people inside. I took my bagel sandwich to go. I would later discovered that they burned the bottom of the everything bagel. So the only taste was a burnt flavor. And that was for almost 10 dollars. read more

Tompkins Square Bagels in my neighborhood location has been on my to go list since I added this location to YELP! Someone beat me to FTR but I don't care. I'm thrilled to see how busy this location has become. The reason I'm definitely not complaining is that they are one of the friendliest and most efficient bagel shops I've ever visited! Not only that but I found the outside patio in the back with tons of seating in the comfortable weather today made the experience so enjoyable. As for the bagel and cream cheese I had my favorite bagel anywhere which is Pumpernickel Everything. I had the Espresso Cream Cheese which I've never seen offered by any other bagel shop. It was a great combination and such a fresh delicious bagel. I can't find anything negative to say. The artwork with NYC scenes is amazing. The atmosphere is just perfect for a local business. I'm glad I don't live in this building because I'd be here way too often. Then again I'm envious of people that live closer than I do. I'm definitely going to try the Sourdough bagel. That's a flavor I love and I don't find often. I can't recommend this bagel brand enough! I see a Tompkins Square Bagel addiction in my future!! PS I do wish they would add stools to the Front Window Counters. It will be cold sitting outside in the winter. read more

So freaking good! We picked these up on the way to the US Open and no one there had better looking food than us. They were ready right on time when we picked them up at the to go counter. The stutto has chipotle chicken salad with avocado and bacon, and it is truly the best sandwich I have ever eaten. The bagels here truly are superb. We got a basic everything bagel with butter to test the bagel on its own and it does live up to the hype! The Taylor ham, egg, and cheese sandwich wasn't my favorite because of the cheese. I've had breakfast bagel sandwiches in town with better fillings. Tompkins Square Bagels just shows why New York bagels are superior. I visited on a Saturday morning and there was a decent line forming but it was moving pretty quickly. The staff takes your order before you pay at the counter. There is also a nice patio with a decent amount of seating perfect for a nice day. The interior is also quite spacious with fun decor. I ordered the Triple Crown on a jalapeno cheddar bagel and was super impressed. For the price, the portion was amazing and quality of the ingredients was great. It came loaded with bacon and I loved the sweetness from the maple glaze. This has definitely become one of my favorite bagel spots and I get the hype! read more

Immaculate!!! The French toast bagel with egg and cheddar was absolutely our standout. Also had an egg everything with avocado scallion cream cheese, pepperjack cheese and eggs. The iced vanilla later was no joke one of the best I've ever had. Line looks daunting but it moves fast and your order is pretty much ready by the time you get to the front. Staff is super nice. Love that a Tompkins Square Bagels popped up in my neighborhood! The bagels are pretty decent - I would say maybe not as fluffy as some of the other bagels I tried but still quite good. I feel like what you're coming here for are the specialty cream cheese flavors and sandwiches. I definitely have a sweet tooth so I've tried a few of the cream cheeses but their list is so expansive so I have many more to try! Big fan of the cookie dough cream cheese. Their sandwiches look great too but I haven't had the chance to try them yet - I'll be sure to report back. On a busy morning the wait can be a little long but their order-taking process is pretty efficient - just note you need to order your drink or other bakery items separately when paying for your bagel at the end. read more

Stopped by here before I went to Hunter College. I really enjoyed my bagel and appreciated the help from the lady who is working that register. I appreciated that she double checked that I was trying to order the tofu cream cheese when I ordered the jalapeño cheddar cream cheese. I actually have a soy allergy so that would've ruined my day so I super appreciate her double checking prior to adding it onto my bagel. There's a pretty large outdoor section to sit in that's nice and quiet and has cute chairs and tables. I liked that there was signage to be respectful to the neighbors and make sure not to be too noisy. I would really enjoy coming back here! read more

Went out of our way to visit Tompkins bagel while on vacation and we're definitely satisfied with the trip. The lox and everything bagel was incredibly tasty. My daughter had the rainbow bagel with birthday cake cream cheese and loved it. Theres places that you can get a cheaper bagel, but these were top quality and super fresh. 10/10 would recommend this shop. read more
