Tompkins Square Bagels has been on my to go list since I first joined YELP! I finally made it to their locations. Here's my overall opinion...... Tompkins Square Bagel is one of the friendliest and most efficient bagel shops I've ever visited! The employees are knowledgeable and professional too. As for the bagels and cream cheese I thought I died and went to heaven. They have lots of great combinations and such fresh delicious bagels. I can't find anything negative to say. The atmosphere is just perfect for a local business. I'm definitely going to try other flavors and get them delivered if necessary. I pass the UES location on my way home from the doctor. The line is long and the place is always crowded! I see a Tompkins Square Bagel addiction in my future! AND I can't wait to try a bialy. There's a lot of choices here......
We stopped by Tompkins Square Bagels earlier this month. It was a Saturday morning, so it was lively inside. There was a longer line, but the staff were incredibly efficient with serving guests in a timely manner. I was truly impressed! There were loads of bagel and cream cheese options. We opted to try the Weezer sandwich. It was absolutely delicious! I would definitely recommend stopping here for a bagel!
2/18/2026 They say the bagels in NY are amazing, I can confirm this is indeed true. The aroma of food cooking is mouthwatering while ordering. Had a bacon, egg, and cream cheese on a French toast bagel. 1000/10 no complaints at all you really get a meal! Seating area out back.
Top recommended spot from our local friends, and Tompkins didn't disappoint!! There are a million shmear options, house-made by the way! Delicious bagel options, including sourdough which I feel like is a rare find. The service was a little slow but it was slammed to be fair. I would definitely come back here again.

Was totally deceived as we approached Tompkins Square Bagels and believed there was no line out the door. Come to find out, the lines formed in the back of the store and looped around to the counter! The line did go by quickly though, and it helps to have a person take orders down the line. I picked something random to try to avoid ordering the same things in my group. While some of our bagels were standouts, there were some misses. My pastrami bagel, The Koch, included egg, scallion cream cheese & red onion. I thought the combination was mild and I would prefer a different cheese in the bagel instead of cream cheese, which I could swap next time if they allowed. My other friend's bagel, the MCA, was a veggie bagel. It was loaded with lots of tomatoes, a runny egg, and an avocado mash that made the bagel soggy. Overall, I'd stick to the specialties, if it's your first time, as I thought the Triple Crown bagel sandwich was the most flavorful because of all the ingredients in it. Really solid spot for bagels with quick service, so do not be intimidated by the line! Overall, a solid pick for NY bagels, but might take some tries to figure out what is your go to bagel.
Great bagels, great breakfast sandwiches, tons of cream cheese choices, mediocre coffee. Fast service, I like how they take your order early in the line so they can start making your food while you wait to pay. There is an outdoor seating area but it is not heated so it's not a great option during the winter.
Best bacon egg and cheese bagel ever!!! Look at the cheese pull - even if there is a line just push through bc it is totally worth it! Still dreaming of this bagel

There's menu displaying their sandwiches, bagels, coffee, etc that they offer. When you enter there's a sign of where to order. Someone takes your order and with that slip you pay and wait for it. I order the breakfast burrito on a wrap. I would say within 5 minutes I received my order. There was a decent crowd but they were handling orders well. Would definitely come back to try one of their bagels.

As a tourist in NYC, I needed to get my bagel fix and I'm so glad this was the first spot I came to. If there's a long line, don't be intimidated. It went by so quick and the workers, while very fast-paced, are friendly. I got the leo because I love a lox with some egg and just wow, this bagel was absolutely amazing. It was cooked so well and was light and fluffy. The lox and egg came together so beautifully for an amazing pairing of flavors. My only wish is I got a bagel with some schmear but that'll be for the next time I go.
First off, the bagels aren't square; their namesake is (the East Village park near the OG location). In every other way, these bagels will more than meet every one of your lofty expectations. TSB deserves its reputation as one of the best in the NYC (ergo the world?). Go figure that the secret is to hand roll and bake each bagel in-house and onsite. The freshness comes through in airy, pillowy goodness. And yeah, like you'd expect for a bagel that's in the conversation for the best in the city, there will be a line. But it moves pretty fast and the payoff will indubitably be worth it. read more

YAY UES location!! I came here on a Monday morning and there was still around a 15-20 min wait. I got the chief preeth on an everything flat bagel and that flat bagel was life changing. It was so unique and one of the best bagels I've had. I liked it because 1) it was more crispy/crunchy 2) it was less doughy 3) it was easier to eat because of how thin it was. Definitely a must try especially for bagel sandwiches. I loved everything the chief preeth came with, avocado, chorizo, egg, and the cheese pull was insane! They have some seating inside the store, but definitely is a gamble on a busy day. I want to come back to try the other options!! read more

If there's two things about me it's 1. I love a bagel and 2. I love cream cheese. I came to satisfy both loves at Tompkins Square Bagels on Thursday morning. It was quite crowded around 10 AM but super efficient. A man was taking orders, then I paid, and within 2 min they had my food for me. The bagel was well toasted with great flavor. The cream cheese was well flavored and salted, and very generous, which is all I want in a bagel with cream cheese. The sandwiches all look very intriguing so I'll definitely be cancel to try one at some point! read more

Was busier than I expected but had a good flow throughout. There are multiple steps to ordering before paying at the register but we had help every step of the way. The bagels were good but the flavors were much more mild than expected. Ordered four bagel items (and 2 bakery items) with two of our bagel orders incorrect. Not a great look. The schmears and sandwich "toppings" were fantastic--sold flavors and generous amounts--but really wished there was more oomph from the bagels themselves. Our total was about $60 for a breakfast bagel, a fish and schmear bagel, two bagels with sweet schmear, and two cookies, before taxes and tip. Again, with two of our items incorrect (wrong bagel for one, wrong schmear for another). The wait was also quite long with others who came after us getting out significantly before us, and with a lot of confusion around our order name (I'm NOT Danielle). read more

Great Bagels! A lot of choice for spreads as well as the bagels and sandwiches. My son can't have dairy, the dairy free cream cheese was amazing. The crew was super accommodating and nice. Love the heaters in the outdoor eating area. Will definitely be back Juan is the best read more
A whopping bagel at 6.09oz for $1.95. The bagels have the same quality as their other locations-- dense, pillowy, soft, and flavorful. This new spot is welcomed in the UES and is going to be staple for me now. The line is bustling on the weekends and there is a dining area in the back but almost impossible to get a spot because people annoyingly save spaces before getting their bagels... a few spots inside and standing space, along with 2 tables outside. read more

This location of TSB was bustling and for good reason! Food at TSB always top notch. Bagels are perfect taste and texture-classic NYC bagel. The front end staff and kitchen managed a long line very well. Nice NYC-themed, fun original art entertained while waiting for order. The cream cheeses on display are a work of art too! Nice garden patio seating out back. Prices are very fair for quality of food. read more

All I could do after having the most surreal smoked salmon with chipotle cream cheese sesame bagel, is write a five golden stars review. The plethora of ingredients available are extremely fresh and flavorful. It's sad to think I can't have such lunches, unless visiting NYC again. The service is very efficient and friendly. Ambiance on the low casual side, but hey it's a lunch on the go. Left with a bag of variety of bagels for later. read more
Very excited for this new TSB location! Same fresh bagels and a variety of toppings. You can order your classic bagel, bfast sandwiches and other specialty sandwiches. They had some sweets that also looked tasty. I got the wheezer which was packed full of flavor. Busy on Sat with a long line but moved relatively quickly. Staff was friendly and were taking orders while I was in line to expedite process. They have patio seating in the back. Would order ahead if you don't want to wait -- but it's def worth the line. read more
I ordered a Scottish double smoked salmon bagel with regular cream cheese, and it hit the spot for my craving. The cream cheese is creamier than other places I've had, but it's still a 5/5 bagel. The staff were really patient to explain the differences between the smoked fish, and there was a huge garden patio that gives you some quiet from the city. read more

I came here to try the french toast bagel and was satisfied. I was worried it was going to be too sweet but it wasn't and it paired really well with the cream cheese and bacon. I was also very satisfied with the amount of bacon they gave. I did a pick up order so I wouldn't have to wait in line but when i went at around 11:30AM on a Sunday, there were only a few people in line. There isn't much seating in and around this location so it felt like more of a grab and go situation. read more

Staff was super helpful and on top of handling a crowd. There's signage that lists out everything they have plus bagels and cream cheese and smoked meats/toppings on display in their cases/shelves. You order from a staff member who writes it on a ticket. THEN you take the ticket to the cashier, pay, and then wait for them to call out your order. There's plenty of outdoor, covered seating in the back! It wasn't too crowded in a Sunday morning on a holiday weekend so definitely a good stop for a chill bagel experience. The bagel itself was perfect, but the real star was the schmeae! There's so many fun ones, you can't go wrong. read more

Service is quite quick, the line moves fast and one staff member is coming to get your order so have your order by the time they come and pay after. We ordered the french toast bagel toasted with apple cinnamon cream cheese (recommended by staff member, tasted delicious - they really put a lot of cream cheese on it which is good), we also got a sausage, egg and cheese on a sesame bagel, toasted as well. There a few tables to stand and eat your bagel at, many beverages to choose from and same with bagels and cream cheeses! Staff is friendly and welcoming too! read more

There was a good amount of cream cheese but by it was more melty than I prefer. The line was pretty long and went fast and wrapped around the whole store so sitting inside was a little cramped. An NYC MUST!! The staff here were sooo amazingly knowledgeable and sweet. Offered us samples of their wide selection of cream cheese. All bagels are made in hour fresh daily. We sat outside. We also witnessed the food pantry van come in for their one day old bagels. Coming back everyday of my trip. read more
Great bagels! Had the triple crown bagel breakfast sandwich which has two types of bacon, cream cheese, egg, cheese and honey. The honey made it! They have many of options of bagels and cream cheese. Larger store with some seats. I think they had seating in the back! read more

So freaking good! We picked these up on the way to the US Open and no one there had better looking food than us. They were ready right on time when we picked them up at the to go counter. The stutto has chipotle chicken salad with avocado and bacon, and it is truly the best sandwich I have ever eaten. My husband had the breakfast burrito sandwich and said it was spicy and full of flavor. Just visiting NY and we are going to miss these bagels! read more
