After all the social media hype, I was expecting to love everything, but unfortunately was pretty disappointed with my experience here. I was really looking forward to trying these bagels, but didn't get there until around 4pm, so there wasn't a ton to choose from, which is understandable. My go-to at any bagel establishment is an everything, but they were out so I opted for cinnamon raisin, toasted with strawberry cream cheese. I also grabbed a chocolate zucchini bread. The zucchini bread was dry and had a spongey consistency. The outer edges were hard and the loaf lacked flavor and sweetness. I know it's GF, but I was just expecting more, because I've had many GF baked goods that were moist and delicious, and that you wouldn't know were gluten free. This was not one of them. Onto the bagel. It was decent, but again, not the greatest. I asked for it to be toasted but it was barely. The strawberry cream cheese was excellent, but the way it was put on the bagel was messy. Not evenly distributed and it clumped in the bagel hole and was spilling out everywhere, meanwhile the rest of the bagel hardly had any cream cheese. It was not suitable for walking and eating, although I tried! Ended up tossing the majority of it. Service was meh. Maybe things would have been better early in the morning when items are fresh, but I won't go out of my way to return here. If you are celiac, then it's probably awesome for you because it's a dedicated gluten free facility and everything in the shop is GF. So from a safety standpoint, probably awesome for those who absolutely cannot have wheat. Still, I wasn't a fan.

Another amazing Gluten free bakery in the area serving up many delicious options. I had the chocolate rugula and it was a nice pastry filled with lots chocolate and baked to perfection. Sister had the pop tart and said it was a bit chewy and if we toasted it many it would be better.

Oh no... ordered a Super Seed bagel toasted with plain cream cheese and it was the saddest excuse for a bagel I've seen in the last decade. So small, SO DENSE, no flavor. Yikes! What am I paying for here? What a disappointment. Ambiance was nice but service was also disappointing. The man at the register looked utterly confused because I asked if there were any low-fat options for spreads. Maybe it was his first day? Overall a poor product and I'll never return.

1000/10 they have figured out the GF bagel! We were floored by the delicious GF options and blown away by the flavors. We enjoyed the BEC and Sweet Billy, in addition to the Latkes and so many baked goods. I highly recommend the Donuts and Orange cake.

I was so happy I remembered that Modern Bread and Bagel opened their Midtown East location! I was in the office for our holiday party that was happening later on that night so I didn't want to eat anything too heavy, but I knew I wanted to try one of their bagels. (Sweet treat would have to be for another time). I decided to order a toasted everything bagel with tofu cream cheese. I am so glad I ordered because it was literal perfection. I can't wait to go back and try a pastry!

I can't stop thinking about this bagel, probably because I haven't had one in years being gluten free! Went with a cinnamon raisin with cream cheese and it was perfect. Also had a brioche donut which was different but very good! Not too sweet! Wish they'd open in Charleston!!

While I don't have a gluten allergy/intolerance, I have a few friends who do and wanted to test this place out for the next time they visit. The shop is conveniently located near a few train lines and seems to be built specifically for takeout since there's no seating and limited space to stand unobtrusively (the staff did a good job of moving the line along quickly so it wasn't too noticeable 6). Not that that stopped me from taking a few bites of the everything bagel with chive cream cheese I ordered before heading back out into the cold. I was surprised at the decently chewy texture of the bagel considering it wasn't made with wheat flour. The real winner of the day, though, was the cinnamon roll slice. Instead of being baked in individual rolls side by side in a shallow pan, the rolls here are baked in a long rectangular loaf pan, iced with a cream cheese frosting, and then cut into thick slices. The cinnamon flavor was excellent and the dough itself was quite moist, especially once it was warmed a little at home.

I came in on a very cold Monday morning at 8:00AM, it was pretty much empty. Soooo many pastries to decide from so I decided on the brioche donut and cinnamon roll. The donut was absolutely delicious, heavy, and bread-like. The cinnamon roll wasn't bad but kind of hard. I wished they had bigger cups for the drip than 12 oz. Will be returning to try more pastries.

The best gluten free babka! Their other pastries are delicious as well but the babka will always be my favorite!

This time we got the lox bagel with scallion lox cream cheese spread, bacon egg and cheese on everything bagel, and onion bagel with chipotle scallion cream cheese. The lox bagel had so much smoked salmon which was great. My favorite, however, is still the chipotle scallion cream cheese spread. By far my favorite and just getting cream cheese makes the bagel pretty cheap compared to those sandwiches. Strongly recommend!!

The bagel was nice and fresh. Doughy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I'm giving 4 stars because there was a bit too much cream cheese for my liking and I had to try to wipe some of it off. I ordered ahead on the Doordash app so it was ready when I arrived but there was no option to add a note for light cream cheese. I didn't spend too much time inside but I noticed there was plenty of seating. There were a ton of different spreads in the case and the menus on TV screens had a decent amount of options for salads, sandwiches, and breakfast platters. Plain Bagel with Cream Cheese: 4/5

FOOD: We ordered a bag of 3 bagels-- everything, poppy seed & salt. The bagels were cute, medium sized and served warm/hot. We chose the scallion cream cheese which came in a lil container. Apparently the bagels are not made in the traditional manner, but they were still delicious with great texture and taste. We also ordered the tea (ok) and strawberry lemonade (yum). We enjoyed our bagels on the little countertop area outside. OVERALL: Definitely recommend! A different bagel experience than some other places (as in, those places where you are served bagels topped with cream cheese and other things) but we enjoyed the simplicity of the bagels and controlling the amount of cream cheese.
