I've used Tommy's so many times and I don't want to go anywhere else! Over the years growing up I would come here with my dad while he was picking up supplies and paint; now that I'm a homeowner I find myself doing projects as well and always order my paint online through Tommy's. Before we started going here for our painting projects, we assumed we'd probably get a few things but get most of our paint cheaper at a big box store. However...it's not that much of a price difference AND the experience, the friendly nature of the people working there and the overall vibe of the place make you want to keep coming back! I went into this dreading anything about paint, but through my own research, practice and talking to the folks here, I actually ENJOY going to the paint store (helps that they have good coffee) now. I think this place is a Eugene gem. I haven't been to many paint stores, so I don't know what my other experiences would be, but Tommy's is just fun and enjoyable (oh, and they have tools and paint things you might not have thought of that can make things easier, and someone knowledgeable to tell you about using it). If you buy paint from them and need it later shaken or stirred (we got some big 5 gallons containers) you can easily just pull your car in up front and they'll come out with a dolly to grab a heavy 5 gallon bucket out of your car and load it after it's been dealt with. While you're waiting you can get some coffee or tea and hang out at one of the color selection tables or on a stool at the front. Tommy's Paint Pot is fantastic. We needed to match an interior paint for our remodeling. The staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. He spent some much time explaining to us the differences of paint type. They also have this tool that can do a reading on any old paint chip and suggest a color sample. Their staff is consistent since we got the help from the same guy when we bought some deck stain about 1.5 months earlier. We had a complete opposite experience with Sherwin-Williams Paint Store in Woodfield Station. The first time we went there the staff seemed nice and told us they too have a tool to test our color sample. The second time we walked in the stairs and presented an old chip sample, this Hispanic worker didn't even bother to help us and find the closest color same chip. First he said they don't have a tool. Then he told us we can do just as good as he does in finding the color sample closest to the color. I moved to OR last December, and one of the mailings that I got soon after was a $20 off certificate from Tommy's as a "welcome to the neighborhood" gift. So, when I finally got to the room that would need a gallon of paint, I went to Tommy"s to purchase it. That was in March, just as Covid was hitting. It took a while to get around to painting the living room because I was distracted by the job of putting in a garden. Anyway, I finally got around to the painting, doing one wall at a time. That first wall, I kept wondering why it was so light. It was more of an off White I had purchased, wasn't it? But I had left the swatch behind, and Covid was in full force, so I just went with it. Fast forward to today, when I thought that perhaps I needed to purchase another quart, just to make sure I had enough to cover the last, largest, wall. Luckily, I took the original gallon with me, thinking this way I could just get them to add the quart in, and mix it all together in the shaker. That was good thinking on my part. They had never added tint in the first gallon. So, now I am faced with the choice. They would give me a new gallon, this time with tint in it, or give me a quart, sans tint, and give me "a deal" on the quart. $10 off. I had spent countless hours painting the first three walls. I had spent hundreds of dollars purchasing new cellular shades to match the paint color. I had decided to purchase fabric to make curtain panels to give a pop of color to one wall, because the color was so stark, and something needed to be done to liven it up. Buy, hey, they gave me $10 off. I just want to cry. After posting this, Craig reached out and completely made things right. Even went above and beyond in a way I did not ever expect. This is a stand up guy with a phenomenal sense of customer service, and they now have a customer for life. read more

I go to Tommy's for all my painting needs. The show room is so inviting and even has a playroom for the kids while you explore! The huge wall of color samples is fantastic! Their color selection, product selection and expertise are unsurpassed. I can bring in ideas for a project and their specialists help me look at options by analyzing the lighting in the area, usage and desired effect. I leave with color swatches and paint samples to paint on the surface to see what it really looks like.They are pros at color matching and have state of the art computers to give you an exact match. We keep working together until I find what I'm looking for. This depth of customer service in comparison to picking up paint at the local hardware store, or other paint stores doesn't come close. Tommy's also carries all the tools I need to do my projects and they can help me select what's best for my specific needs . At home I have children and my business is filled with people ...both places require a durable paint that is low VOC. Visitors are always asking me about the colors we use.
